Kindhearted Ms. Chen Guilan from Chaoyang City Illegally Detained

(Minghui.org) Ms. Chen Guilan, 61, is from the Zhongxing Residence Area in Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province. She is known for being a kindhearted and caring person. If you mention her name in the residential complex, people immediately say that she is a good person who often helps others in times of need.

When one of her colleagues became disabled, Ms. Chen took care of her for a long time, including buying groceries and daily necessities. When her colleague had to go to a hospital, she stayed at the hospital to look after her without expecting any kind of compensation. As time went by, the colleague's home became her second home.

Then, for several days, Ms. Chen did not come to help. Her colleague eagerly awaited her return every day. She wondered what happened to her kindhearted friend.

Here's what happened. The Chinese Communist Party was about to have two big conferences. The Chaoyang City Political and Legal Affairs Committee, 610 Office and Police Department used the excuse of “security” to illegally arrest many innocent people, including Ms. Chen.

Ms. Chen was arrested at 9 p.m. on March 3, 2013, while distributing Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs near a local market. She was taken to the Qianjin Police Station in Chaoyang City.

Police station head Zhang Zhiqiang detained her for 15 days. However, she was not released thereafter. Instead, officer Wang Zhiren then colluded with the prosecutor to “officially” arrest Ms. Chen, intending to send her to jail.

After she started to practice Falun Gong, Ms. Chen became very kind and considerate of everyone around her. No one can understand why such a kind lady would be sent to jail.

The Whole Family Affected

Ms. Chen is the central caretaker for her family. Now, her family has been left in dire need.

Ms. Chen's husband, Bai Hejun, has cerebral thrombosis and femur head necrosis, and needs constant care. Her mother, who is 83 years old and has spinocerebellar atrophy, and mother-in-law, who is 85, both require support. Her 6-year-old granddaughter relies on her for daily care, as the child's parents work out of town. Plus, her disabled friend also relies on her for shopping and support.

Ms. Chen has been subjected to the persecution many times. She was sent to the notorious Masanjia Forced Labor Camp twice, where she suffered inhuman torture. She was forced to stand still for long periods of time, not allowed to sleep, subjected to death bed torture, and more.

Ms. Chen was also forced to perform slave labor for 17-18 hours a day. Guard Gao Yuntian kicked her in the chest, injuring her lung. Ms. Chen coughed for over three months and occasionally vomited blood. She was eventually sent to a hospital for a checkup, but was told that she would have to pay the medical fees herself.

Ms. Chen is very steadfast in her belief. Falun Gong teaches her to be a good person and treat others with kindness. What crime has this elderly lady committed by being a good person and helping others?
