Additional Persecution News from China – February 23, 2013 (11 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 9 cities or counties in 7 provinces. In this report, 10 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 2 practitioners were illegally arrested.

11. [Daozhen County, Guizhou Province] Mr. Tu Jian Sentenced to 3.5 Years in Prison

1. [Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Liang Kuiyan Sentenced to 7.5 Years in Prison

Ms. Liang Kuiyan, 55, from Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province, was arrested on April 10, 2012. She was put on trial at the Ganzhou City Detention Center and sentenced to 7.5 years in prison on September 20, 2012. She is being held at the Jiangxi Province Women’s Prison.

Previously, Ms. Liang had been sentenced to 2 years of forced labor in January 2000, to 3 years of forced labor on October 23, 2001, and to 1.5 years of forced labor on July 11, 2005.

2. [Beijing] Ms. Yu Guixiang Arrested

Ms. Yu Guixiang, from Daxindian Town, Penglai City, left home and remained homeless for 3 years to avoid being arrested. On January 7, 2013, she was arrested by officers from Bejing.

3. [Beijing] Ms. Ning Baofeng and Ms. Song Laoba Arrested

Ms. Ning Baofeng, from Du'erbote County, Daqing City, was arrested at Tiananmen Square on February 21, 2013. Ms. Song Laoba was also arrested.

4. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhang Xianyin Detained

Mr. Zhang Xianyin, from Qixingpao Farm, Jiusan Branch, Heilongjiang Province General Bureau for Land Reclamation, was arrested on the morning of February 7, 2013. His home was ransacked, and officials extorted from him 10,000 yuan. He was taken to the Jiusan Detention Center on February 17, 2013, and has been held there ever since.

5. [Yinan County, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Ailing Arrested

Officer Wang Yanbin from the Mamuchi Township Police Station broke into Ms. Wang Ailing's home and arrested her on February 20, 2013. He also confiscated Falun Gong books and materials, as well as an MP3 player. He then extorted 2,500 yuan from Ms. Wang's family.

6. [Changle County, Shandong Province] Mr. Qin Xueqing Arrested

In February 2013, officers form the Qiaoguan Town Police Station in Weifang City broke into Mr. Qin Xueqing's home and arrested him. They confiscated the photo of the founder of Falun Gong from Mr. Qin's home.

On February 21, 2013, they also broke into the home of Mr. Zhao Yancheng and confiscated Falun Gong informational materials.

7. [Shijiangzhuang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Hu Guiqing on Hunger Strike, Force-Fed

Ms. Hu Guiqing, from Qingyuan, Hebei Province, has been on a hunger strike for over a month at the Shijiangzhuang City Women's Forced Labor Camp. She has been force-fed twice a day on a daily basis.

8. [Beijing] Ms. Zhao Yanqing Arrested

Ms. Zhao Yanqing, 65, from Fengtai District, was arrested when she spoke to people about Falun Gong on the afternoon of February 21, 2013. She is being held at the Nanyuan Police Station.

9. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] Ms. Zheng Shunlan Missing for Over Six Years

Ms. Zheng Shunlan, from Shushan District, went to Beijing with fellow practitioners to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong in September 2006. She has been missing ever since.

10. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Family of Three Held at Brainwashing Center

Mr. Jiang Zonglin's wife and daughter went to the Xinjin Brainwashing Center on December 22, 2012, to ask for Mr. Jiang's release. They were detained by Yin Shunyao, director of the brainwashing center, and officers from the 610 Office. The family of three are still being held at the brainwashing center.

11. [Daozhen County, Guizhou Province] Mr. Tu Jian Sentenced to 3.5 Years in Prison

Mr. Tu Jian, from Yuxi Town, Daozhen Yilao and Miao Autonomous County, Zunyi City, was arrested at home on September 5, 2012, by Yang Xiaoping, director of the Daozhen County Domestic Security Division, and other officers. His home was ransacked. He was later sent to the Daozhen County Detention Center.

On December 10, 2012, he was tried at the Daozhen County Court and sentenced to 3.5 years in prison. At present, he is still being held at the Daozhen County Detention Center.

Previously, Mr. Tu had been sentenced to 3 years in prison in July 2006. He was incarcerated at the Duyun Prison.
