(Minghui.org) During a recent visit to the Hebei Women's Forced Labor Camp, Ms. Li Shanshan's family found out that Ms. Li's prison term was extended for 15 days. Ms. Li was originally in Division 4 but has since been transferred to Division 2. She is forced to do slave labor during the day and is brainwashed in the evening until 10 p.m. Ms. Li's family is asking the labor camp to immediately stop the brainwashing.

Arrested for trying to rescue her husband

To rescue her husband from being tortured in Gangbei Prison in Tianjin, Ms. Li filed a lawsuit against Gangbei Prison in Tianjin (renamed to Binhai Prison) and was arrested by the Tangshan Domestic Security Division on October 29, 2011. Ms. Li was sentenced to two years of forced labor. She was sent to Kaiping Forced Labor Camp in Tangshan, then transferred to Hebei Women's Forced Labor Camp in Shijiazhuang.

Background

In 2003, to rescue Mr. Zhou Xiangyang, her boyfriend at the time, Ms. Li submitted to the prison authorities her request to marry him. To stop the prison from persecuting him, Ms. Li appealed on his behalf despite a tremendous amount of pressure along with the risk of being arrested. She was arrested and sentenced to 15 months of forced labor. Ms. Li resumed appealing for her husband after she was released. Mr. Zhou also put forth his best effort to resist the persecution in prison. He went on a year-long hunger strike and was eventually released. The young couple finally reunited after spending seven years apart as a result of the persecution.

However, less than a year later, Mr. Zhou was again arrested and sent to Gangbei Prison, where he was brutally tortured. Ms. Li began another round of appeals and rescue efforts. She wrote an open letter, “A Young Couple's Journey: Zhou Xiangyang's Fiancee Appeals Seven Years for His Release,” which touched thousands of people, many of whom were moved to tears. Many of them started a petition to rescue Mr. Zhou: 2,300 residences in the nearby 10 towns and villages signed the letter asking that Mr. Zhou be released and those responsible for the torture be investigated.

Right before Mr. Zhou was released, Ms. Li was again arrested on October 29, 2011, and sentenced to two years of forced labor by the Tangshan Political and Legal Affairs Committee officials.

No visitors for a year

After Ms. Li was sent to squad No. 4 in Hebei Women's Forced Labor Camp in Shijiazhuang, she was kept in solitary confinement for a long time because she would not renounce Falun Dafa. She was also forced to do slave labor. Her husband had asked to visit her several times, but the labor camp did not allow it. Ms. Li was not allowed to have any visitors for a year.
