(Minghui.org) ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) recently aired a report titled “Organ Harvesting Links Pressure to Australian University” on its prime-time program on April 29. The report covered Professor Maria Fiatarone Singh calling on the University of Sydney to revoke the honorary professorship of Huang Jiefu, a key figure of Chinese organ transplantation and a former Deputy Minister of Health.

The report had a strong impact. Medical professionals, lawyers, academics and others joined the petition effort. Australian mainstream media including Channel 7 News, The Age , The Sydney Morning Herald , The West Australian , as well as Sky News and Yahoo Australia , carried or reprinted reports on the case.

BBC also reported on April 30 “Organ Harvesting in China”. The moderator phoned Prof. Singh in the program and invited Mr. David Matas, one of the authors of the book Bloody Harvest to the broadcasting studio. The program provided further insight into the Chinese regime's live organ harvesting.

Australian media focus: The Chinese regime's organ transplantation causes protests across the globe. ABC news reported, “Every year in China thousands of prisoners are executed and their deaths provide kidneys, lungs and livers for the country's organ transplant program.

“The practice is hugely controversial. Human rights campaigners have long condemned the link between executions and organ harvesting.” The image at the beginning of the report is a banner calling for a stop to organ harvesting from living people.

Prof. Singh said, “In the 1990s a very special form of lethal injection, called slow lethal injection, was perfected in China by Chinese officials as a way to preserve the organs so that the person is basically anesthetized, they don't die right away, it gives the surgeons the time to take out as many organs as they would like to and then the lethal injection is finalized. So, it's done in a way that actually allows this very, very unsavory mix of execution and medical care and treatment to be done by the same team of doctors. It's horrific, really.”

The report also pointed out that the Chinese regime's live organ harvesting was condemned by the United Nations, the World Health Organization and other international medical bodies.

Huang Jiefu Publicly Admits that he Conducts Two Liver Transplantations Every Week

The report mentioned, “For more than a decade, one of the key figures behind the program was an Australian-trained doctor, Huang Jiefu.” Huang was Deputy Minister of Health in China for 12 years (until the end of 2012). Prof. Singh said, “He himself is a liver transplant surgeon and he has stated as recently as November, 2012 that he continues to perform about two liver transplants every week – so that would be 100 organs a year, and using his own figures, 90 to 95 per cent of those would have come from executed prisoners.

“We shouldn't be giving him any publicity or honour for the kind of things that he's done. He can't possibly be adhering to the dictum that we all take an oath of, which is 'first, do no harm,' because there's no way that you could consider using people the way he has as transplant donors as being concordant with that philosophy.”

Mr. Matas said, “And that's my view, that Huang Jiefu, by being responsible for an ethical system and himself participating in transplants, which, as far as I'm concerned, are more than likely to be unethical themselves, has engaged in unethical behavior and therefore the professorship should be revoked for that reason.”

The Age : “They are Basically still Practicing Execution on Demand.”

Prof. Singh said during the interview with The Age , that Dr. Huang and the Chinese regime have only played "lip service" to stopping organ harvesting from death-row prisoners.

"They are basically still practicing execution on demand," she said.

The term “Killing on demand” was not coined by Prof. Singh about the Chinese Communist regime's crime of live organ harvesting. On March 30, 2012, Arthur Caplan, Professor of Bioethics and director of the Center for Bioethics at the University of Pennsylvania, one of the ten most influential people in biotechnology in America, had a seminar titled “The Ethics of Using Prisoners as Sources of Cadaver Organs” in the College of Physicians of Philadelphia. He mentioned the illegal use of prisoner organs in China and the frequent crime of “killing on demand.”

David Kilgour, a former Member of Parliament in Canada and co-author of Bloody Harvest , gave an example in a BBC interview, “In September 2005, he [Huang Jiefu] went to the head of the Uyghur part (of China) to do an experimental liver transplant. He did it, but he also called for two backup livers. What that meant, and he made two phone calls to two places to get these livers, what that meant, I think it's very clear, that two people were killed. And their organs were waiting to see if they were needed. Not one but two. This man who is an honorary professor of medicine in the University of Sydney is doing this for show.” Mr. Kilgour said that anyone can judge whether such a person is worthy of any honors from a Western university after such an example.

Many Victims of the Chinese Communist Regime's Live Organ Harvesting are Falun Gong Practitioners

BBC news invited Mr. Kilgour to their broadcasting studio for the program “China Organ Harvesting Row.”

Mr. Kilgour said, “I signed the letter with Doctor Maria Singh for reasons said in the letter. To me, it's highly improper for a leading academic institution anywhere, to give an award to somebody who is participating actively in a crime against humanity.”

He pointed out, “It rarely gets mentioned that a lot of these people who are killed for their organs are Falun Gong practitioners who have been convicted of no offense.”

Mr. Kilgour continued, “They're simply sent to a labor camp on a police signature for up to 3 and 4 years. They work 15 hours a day. But they are the only prisoners that are tested every 3 months by a doctor, elaborately tested. They don't know why it's being done. It's being done to see what their organs are like. It's so when someone from London or Canada comes for an organ, the person who fits the blood tissue type of the person who is coming for the organ, is taken into the labor camp jail and they're killed, and their organs are flown to Shanghai, and the person comes back with a new liver or heart.”

When asked for figures, Mr. Kilgour commented, “David Matas and I who did this study, put a figure of 41,500 over a 5-year period of up to 2005. Organs that can only be explained as having come from Falun Gong. Others have put it at about 65,000 over the 10-year period up to 2008. So it's an awful lot of people. People forget that these people are convicted of nothing.”

In the interview the reporter mentioned that: "China (stated last year that it) would end the practice in about 3 to 5 years.” To that claim, Mr. Kilgour responded: “It has been going on now for 13 years. Tens of thousands of people have been killed. It's so profitable. A human being is worth about half a million dollars. But it's immensely profitable. And people like Dr. Huang are making a lot of money personally out of this.

“I can give you an example of a doctor who removed the corneas from the eyes of 2,000 Falun Gong practitioners in Sujiatun. He was paid the equivalent of hundreds of thousands of U.S. dollars for it. He eventually left and came to Canada.”

Mr. Kilgour stated, “We have no doubts that this is happening. It's a crime against humanity. And people like Doctor Huang should be tried under the International Criminal Court.”
