(Minghui.org) More and more people have come to support Falun Gong over the years, as the facts about the practice and the Chinese regime's brutal persecution thereof have spread far and wide. This is a story of a director of a performing troupe, who, after learning the facts about the persecution, decided to forbid his group from singing Chinese Communist Party (CCP) propaganda songs. He has also helped people withdraw from the Party, severing their ties with the unscrupulous regime.
There are many folk song-and-dance troupes in China. They are often invited to join all kinds of events, such as business openings, marriage ceremonies, anniversary celebrations, and even funerals.
In Hebei Province, there is such a group that was formed two years ago. After gaining an in-depth understanding of the persecution of Falun Gong and the CCP's corrupt nature, the group's director set some basic rules that apply to all of their performances: They cannot sing any CCP songs, and if anyone insists, he or she will be dismissed from the group. New performers who only know CCP songs also cannot be hired.
On one occasion, during an opening ceremony, a performer sang a CCP song. When the director heard about it, he asked the performer, “Why did you sing that song?” The performer then asked what was wrong with it.
The director said, “Nowadays everyone knows how corrupt the CCP is. The food we eat is poisonous, and it is even getting hard to breath. Whose fault is it? Today there are a lot of crimes that aren't being looked into, because the CCP spends all of its effort on repressing good people. They demolish people's houses and take their land, and they put those who appeal into labor camps and mental hospitals. If you try to stop them, they persecute you. Falun Gong people are the most honest and always obey the law, but they have been persecuted by the CCP for so many years.
“However, you are still singing CCP songs. That will make common people angry, because they hate the CCP. Wouldn't that harm our reputation? How many people today think the CCP is good? Therefore, we cannot sing CCP songs any longer. Think about it, Bo Xilai organized the singing of the CCP songs in Chongqing, and he has been put in jail. Li Shuangjiang, the king of CCP songs, is also suffering from deep troubles. Our former song director was actually my good friend. I advised him many times not to sing CCP songs, but he wouldn't listen. Last year he died from natural gas poisoning. However, his wife, who took my advice and always recited 'Falun Dafa is good!' didn't die in the gas incident.”
The performer said, “What you are saying is almost like what a Falun Gong practitioner would say.” The director replied: “I had the same questions you are having. I also had a lot of doubts about Falun Gong. But after I got to know the practitioners—and saw their high moral standard, their peaceful attitudes, and especially their compassion—I gained a new perception of Falun Gong. I had made many mistakes in the past. But when I talked with them, they did not blame me and only encouraged me. I was very moved.
“The power of Falun Gong has changed me. In the past, I was quite famous in this region. I could say something and a hundred people would stand up and listen to my commands. When something made me angry, I would lead these people to fight. Why don't I do such things anymore? Because the principles that Falun Gong promotes – Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance – have changed me. I've even stopped killing animals. I have experienced many cases where I was tempted to kill things, but these principles' invisible power stopped me. At times when I couldn't resist the temptation and wanted to do it, I still wasn't able to. Slowly I realized that there is a form of power that is stopping me from doing bad things. This is what I have truly experienced.
“I now understand why Falun Gong people are so good – the true reason is that Falun Gong has a great and powerful force. But this power is completely benign. It stops people from doing bad things. I hope you can look at the facts of Falun Gong and use your own heart to judge what's good and what's bad.”
After listening, the performer said: “I now understand. Even people like you, who don't practice Falun Gong, can restrict themselves from doing bad things [by following the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance]. Then if everyone practices Falun Gong, there won't be any bad things or bad people in society. I will not sing any CCP songs from now on.”
In the two years since the group was formed, the director was able to advise dozens of people to quit the CCP.
Many times he also courageously helped others. His friend asked him, “When you were helping others, what if they blackmailed you?” (Editor's note: In China today, there have been many incidents of someone helping a person and then ending up being blackmailed by that person, instead of being thanked. For instance, an old man fell and someone stepped in to help him; the old man then blamed that person for the fall so that he could extort money.)
The director replied, “When they are at risk, I don't have time to think that much. In the past, I would have some concern. Now I'm more brave, because Falun Gong's Master is watching over me and protecting me, so I'm not scared at all.”
