(Minghui.org) On December 5, Falun Gong practitioner Zhao Fugui from Beijing was arrested by officers from the Yanchun Police Station while distributing Falun Gong informational materials in Yanchun, Fangshan. He is currently detained at the Fangshan Detention Center.

Mr. Zhao's mother became extremely concerned and distressed about his arrest, and subsequently had an accident and fractured her leg. His younger sister earns a living by driving a three-wheeled cart, and helps to support their mother. She is quite busy and barely has time to take care of her own daughter, and is now under more pressure as she tries to provide her mother with the care she now requires.

December 19, 2012 was “ Director's Reception Day” at the Fangshan Public Security Bureau. Mr. Zhao's younger sister and mother (now confined to a wheel chair) went to the Bureau to request his release. They were greeted by officer Duan, but informed that they had to go to the Fangshan Detention Center and contact an officer Zhang Wenfu in order to resolve the situation.

On December 20, the two women went to the Fangshan Detention Center. However, the staff simply passed them back and forth, wasting their time. They were unable to locate officer Zhang Wenfu. Out of despair, Mr. Zhao's sister shouted, “Aren’t the police supposed to serve the people? Isn’t this a harmonious society? Why did you arrest a kind person? Aren’t you deceiving people?” His mother sat in her wheelchair and wept, crying, “My son, come home…”

Passersby were moved by the scene, but the police appeared to have lost their sense of empathy and justice. A detention center official ordered photos taken of Mr. Zhao’s family. The local police also sent officers to try to stop the women's protest. Subsequently, officer Duan demanded that the women show proof of residency, documentation of the mother's medical treatment, and a statement describing the difficulty of Mr. Zhao's family's situation due to his arrest. The officer then told them that he'd ask his supervisor if Mr. Zhao could be released on bail. Mr. Zhao’s family provided the paperwork immediately, and then went home.

On December 21, Mr. Zhao’s family called the detention center, but no one answered for a long time. Finally, an officer answered the phone but immediately put them on hold. At approximately 8:00 p.m., a violent group from the Fangshan 610 Office arrived at Mr. Zhao's home and tried to kick down the door. They ordered his family to come out, but when they refused, they attempted to force entry through the balcony door. Failing to open it, they threatened to return the next day.

Subjected to Years of Persecution

Mr. Zhao started practicing Falun Gong in 1995. He has been detained in forced labor camps three times and subjected to inhuman torture simply for his belief. However, despite persecution and torture, Mr. Zhao has not been deterred from his belief in Dafa.

In 2005, Mr. Zhao's mother was beaten until she was knocked unconscious by a policeman named Liu from Mentougou District, because she is a Falun Gong practitioner. She then suffered a stroke. Her family appealed to several governmental departments, but officials refused to accept responsibility and finally sent her to a nursing home. The family was forced to pay all expenses for her care.

Mr. Zhao's wife was under severe pressure due to the persecution of her husband, and felt compelled to divorce him. Their child was placed in his custody. Mr. Zhao has been dedicated to looking after both his mother and child.
