(Minghui.org) Master told us that “Dafa disciples’ duty is to save sentient beings.” ("Dafa Disciples Must Study the Fa - Fa Teaching Given at the 2011 Washington DC Metro Area Fa Conference")
Master said in the same lecture:
“Buddhas aren’t supposed to be impoverished; they should be wealthy. The lives there are your riches, and only with them will your paradise be able to thrive. They all count as riches—every life counts as riches.”
I’d like to share my understanding of this passage.
Recently I've been haunted by two thoughts that were really hard to get rid of. First, in terms of validating the Fa and saving sentient beings, I felt very content that I had made every effort and done everything that was required of me. Second, since it seemed that the people that were meant to be saved already knew the facts of Falun Gong, I wondered if it was about time for Fa-rectification to end and if we still needed to worry about those who seemed impossible to wake up to the truth.
Whenever these notions flashed in my mind, I felt like slacking off and had no more motivation to clarify the facts and save people.
It usually took me a lot of intensive Fa-study to repel such thoughts. I reminded myself that Master had created the best cultivation environment for us and, as Dafa disciples, we just needed to remain diligent in doing the three things that are required of us. As long as we did our best, we’d see the best results. All the warped thoughts and interference were arranged by the old forces to slow our pace and prevent sentient beings from being saved.
However, after a period of time, those annoying thoughts would show up again. I would once again intensify my Fa-study to drive away the interference, and I did get better, only to soon be plagued by the same thoughts.
Just when I became frustrated and exhausted from fighting the twisted notions, Master revealed the following scene to me in other dimensions.
I saw a gigantic mountain slope that looked just like a huge vegetable field. Different varieties of vegetables were neatly arranged in rows, with each row growing only one kind of vegetable and extending from the bottom all the way up to the top of the mountain. The vegetables were planted about 1-2 inches apart along each row.
I was amazed by the grand, peaceful, and incredible scene. As I walked up the mountain, one particular row of vegetables suddenly caught my attention. Every vegetable in that row looked like a Bodhisattva, and they each had a special being assigned to take care of them. They were all growing happily. I was totally awestruck.
This scene reminded me of what I saw in the past every time I finished clarifying the facts to a particular group of people. Master would show me that the rice paddy in my hometown again had a good harvest!
Recently Master revealed to me an even grander scene every time I did a good job saving people. I saw that the crop field in my hometown was humming with ripe cole. The golden cole flowers were blooming and covered the entire field. No words could do justice to the spectacular scene. Moreover, the vegetable field in my hometown had different kinds of vegetable and fruit seedlings, and I couldn’t even name some of the plants.
I would like to close with the following passage of Fa-teaching from “Dafa Disciples Must Study the Fa - Fa Teaching Given at the 2011 Washington DC Metro Area Fa Conference” so we can remain diligent in validating the Fa and saving sentient beings.
“As I have shared with you before, you are not in fact saving those people for Master’s sake, and neither is it done for others. You are saving them for yourselves, for very possibly those are to be the future sentient beings of your paradises, or are to belong to your expanse. You can’t let it become that when you return to your rightful place, you are like a commander-in-chief without an army, with it completely empty there, just one lone figure occupying that massive cosmic body. Buddhas aren’t supposed to be impoverished; they should be wealthy. The lives there are your riches, and only with them will your paradise be able to thrive. They all count as riches—every life counts as riches.”
