(Minghui.org) Sixty-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liu Defu from Shenyang City, Liaoning Province has been detained for nearly three months. The physical abuse and mistreatment he was subjected to in the Dadong District Detention Center has caused his blood pressure to reach 200, and his legs to go numb. The Dadong District police submitted his case file to the Procuratorate on February 16, 2013, in an attempt to officially charge Mr. Liu and aggravate his persecution.
Mr. Liu Defu was arrested on December 9, 2012 for speaking with people about Falun Gong and the persecution. He was first held in the Dabei Police Station and then sent to the Dadong District Detention Center. Dadong District Domestic Security Division officers ransacked Mr. Liu's home and submitted the case file on him to the Dadong District Procuratorate, in an attempt to have him officially charged and ensure that his “case” was brought to court.
Mr. Liu has been held in the Dadong District Detention Center for nearly three months. During that time, his family tried numerous times to visit him, but their requests were turned down. Mr. Liu 's blood pressure is dangerously elevated, both his legs are numb, and one of his arms is cold and heavy.
In late January 2013, Dadong District Domestic Security Division officials told Mr. Liu's family that they wouldn't release him on bail because he refused to tell where he had obtained the printer, books and his other personal belongings. Mr. Liu's family is extremely worried about his situation in the detention center.
Mr. Liu was self-employed and ran his own business. Years of struggling to run his business caused his health to deteriorate. He developed cervical disease, high blood pressure and other illnesses. He became unsociable and hot tempered. Since he began practicing Falun Gong in 1999, he followed the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and became a better person. All his illnesses disappeared. He became cheerful and enthusiastic, and is always ready to help others. He takes the initiative to help neighbors and friends in need, and his neighbors all praise him for being a rare good person.
