(Minghui.org) In order to persecute Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liu Yong in 2012, the Public Security Bureau of Menglian County in Puer City, Yunnan Province fabricated facts, and conspired with the Procurator's Office and the court to falsely sentence him to four years in prison.
Mr. Liu was born in 1972 in Changling City, Jilin Province. He graduated from the Department of Fine Arts in Northeast Normal University. When Mr. Liu began to practice Falun Gong in 1994, his neurasthenia, insomnia, and chronic coughing disappeared. He became a kindhearted and hardworking person who was liked by his supervisor and colleagues. Throughout his career, Mr. Liu had worked in the Institute of Posts and Telecommunications of Jilin University and the Business School of Yunnan Normal University. In 2001, Mr. Liu and his wife moved to Kunming City in Yunnan Province where he was recognized as an outstanding painter and sculptor.
On September 1, 2012, Mr. Liu wrote “Falun Dafa is good” and “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good” on a wall while doing a carving and a work in tempera in Menglian County. For this, he was reported, arrested, and detained at Menglian Detention Center by the Menglian Public Security Bureau.
On the evening of September 3, 2012, Menglian Public Security Bureau officers Li Zhibing, Luo Yun, Hu Wenwu, and three officers from the Wuhua Public Security Bureau of Kunming broke into Mr. Liu's house, ransacked it, and stole a laptop computer, tablet computer, printer, two CD burners, 10 empty disks, four disks which contained lectures by Mr. Li Hongzhi and a performance of the Shen Yun Performing Arts, 60 copies of Minghui Weekly and Zhengjian Weekly, and other valuables. Li Zhibing videotaped all the items confiscated. The police finished looting the house at 8 p.m.
On December 2, 2012, despite a strong defense argument and evidence by Mr. Liu's lawyer to prove his innocence, the Court of Menglian County sentenced him to four years in prison. The Menglian Public Security Bureau's fabrications and the court's sentence achieved the goal they set for themselves.
On December 30, 2012, based on “evidence” provided by the Menglian Public Security Bureau, the Court of Menglian County sentenced Mr. Liu to four years in prison. A huge discrepancy exists between their so-called evidence on the written judgment and actual items confiscated. The written judgment stated there were 97 disks, 302 copies of Yunnan Digest, Minghui Weekly and Zhengjian Weekly. But the actual amount was 10 disks and 60 copies of other materials. It must be pointed out that no matter how many copies of truth-clarification materials that Falun Gong practitioners possess, they are legal. Practicing Falun Gong is legal, and spreading the truth of Falun Gong is also legitimate. Falun Gong practitioners we are just exercising the rights of belief and freedom of speech guaranteed in China's constitution.
Mr. Liu has now appealed to the Intermediate Court of Puer City. His wife will appear in court to defend him.
