(Minghui.org) I believe that the funds provided by Fa-rectification period Dafa practitioners for truth clarification should be used for materials such as pamphlets, DVDs, and the Nine Commentaries, in order to save people on a large scale. However, some coordinators have used large amounts of money on making amulets. Each amulet costs from 10 cents to 4-5 yuan, and some make carnelian (a semiprecious stone) bracelets which cost 2 yuan each. They reason that making more expensive amulets was for the purpose of Fa rectification, and that non-practitioners were no longer interested in the cheap amulets - they like the upscale ones. A large number of the more expensive amulets have subsequently been made, even though many of the less-expensive amulets are still left. When practitioners have human thinking, they say that people don't want the cheaper ones, and they would rather use the upscale ones.
I believe that whatever non-practitioners like or dislike doesn't matter; what matters is the human heart. Sentient beings aren't saved because they like the upscale amulets - they're saved due to our truth clarification, our truth pamphlets, and the DVDs. They come to understand the truth of Dafa, are able to choose correctly between right and wrong, and upon understanding the truth they can be saved – no matter which amulet they receive.
I don't think that it's inappropriate to give out amulets like this because everyday people like them, even if the purpose is for them to learn the truth about Dafa. However, due to the upscale appearance of the amulets, people ask for more of them, which has stirred up fellow practitioner's human hearts, including their attachments to showing off, elation, etc. “I gave away X (number of) amulets today.” This does not equate to how many people were saved. Our truth clarification periodicals and DVDs contain very rich content, plus our righteous thoughts enable them to read with full attention. Upscale amulet bracelets have small and limited words on them, so their ability to save people is limited. We have been saving people with truth clarifying materials for many years, and as long as people can read, however much in depth they read is equivalent to the level to which they can be saved. Why has this phenomena appeared now at the final stage?
If a practitioner uses his or her own money to make upscale amulets, yet does not influence the group, that may be alright. However, fellow practitioners' hard-earned money must be used judiciously. Over the last dozen years, we've never run out money for making truth-clarifying materials. Why now, when we need to purchase materials, did we run out of money? Why purchase so many materials for upscale amulets? I write this to remind fellow practitioners to walk their paths correctly. We should not strive to satisfy only our attachments and human hearts and end up deviating from the Fa.
These are my personal thoughts, I hope that more fellow practitioners will pay attention to helping sentient beings learn the truth about Dafa, and truly save them.
