Additional Persecution News from China – January 17, 2012 (11 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from mainland China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 10 cities or counties in 8 provinces. In this report, 20 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 2 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Benxi City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Dong Yiran's Family Visits Not Allowed in Benxi Prison

Mr. Dong Yiran's sister went to the Benxi Prison to visit her brother in January 2013. The prison authorities refused her request.

Mr. Dong was sentenced to three years in prison. His prison term ends on February 27, 2013.

2. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Li Jiang Wei Arrested

Mr. Li Jiangwei was arrested on January 15, 2013, by officers from the Xinghua Street Police Station.

3. [Menglian County, Yunnan Province] Mr. Liu Yong Sentenced to Prison

Mr. Liu Yong was sentenced to four years in prison by Menglian County Court on January 4, 2013.

4. [Helong City, Jilin Province] Ms. Sun Qingju Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Sun Qingju is a teacher at the Shangnan Kindergarten in Bajiazi Town, Helong. She was sentenced to three years in prison on December 26, 2012, by Bajiazi Court, after being detained for over seven months.

5. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Zhang Liming Missing

Mr. Zhang Liming, about 50, is an employee of the Shenhe Office of the Shenyang Water Company. He went missing in April 2012. His whereabouts remain unknown.

7. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Zhu Yishun Hospitalized

Mr. Zhu Yishun, from the Panyu District, Guangzhou, was arrest on the evening of December 31 2012. He was taken to the Shawan Detention Center. His family went to the detention center several times, but were denied visitation.

His lawyer went to the detention center on January 11 and was told that Mr. Zhu had been hospitalized. Mr. Zhu was healthy before the arrest. In just a few days, he developed high blood pressure, tachycardia, vertigo, and blurred vision.

8. [Rushan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Cao Meixiang Arrested

Ms. Cao Meixiang lives in South Xiwu Village, Rushan City. She was reported and arrested on January 16, 2013 in Yuli Market.

9. [Xiangyang City, Hubei Province] Mr. Liu Yusheng Detained for Over Seven Months

Mr. Liu Yusheng was arrested on May 13, 2012, by officers from the Xiangzhou District Domestic Security Division. He has been held at the Xiangzhou District Detention Center for over seven months. His family went to the domestic security division several times to request his release, but each time they were turned away. Mr. Liu's case file was recently submitted to the Xiangzhou District Court.

10. [Shenzhou City, Hebei Province] More Information on the Arrests of Several Practitioners

Most of the practitioners that were being held at the Shenzhou City Detention Center were transferred to brainwashing centers on January 8, 2013. Ms. Sun Lili, Ms. Zhao Shuqin, Mr. Hao Zongkun, Mr. Li Huilai, and Mr. He Shuwei were taken to the Shenzhou Brainwashing Center. Mr. Zhang Ruifeng, Ms. Dong Jianying, and Mr. Fen Ting were taken to the Shijiazhuang Brainwashing Center. Mr. Zhang Yun and Ms. Song Xianying are both nearly 70 years old and they are still being held at the Shenzhou Detention Center.

11. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Niu Guifang and Ms. Zhou Fenglan Facing Trial

Ms. Niu Guifang and Ms. Zhou Fenglan will be tried on the morning of January 17, 2013, by Shenbei District Court. The families received the notice on the evening of January 16.
