A Doctor Brutally Force-fed After Being Arrested for the Fourth Time

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Dr. Liu Qingyu from Tieling City, Liaoning Province is in his forties. He was arrested by officers from the Qinghe Police Department on September 12, 2013 and taken to the Tieling City Detention Center. He went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution and was brutally force-fed. In just a little over ten days, he was on the verge of death because of being tortured.

Mr. Liu's elder sister went to see policeman Zhao Baifeng at the Qinghe Police Department, who was in charge of Dr. Liu's arrest. She told him, “If my brother dies I will sue you.” Zhao responded, “What does it have to do with me if your brother dies? He is at a detention center now and you should go talk with the detention center. It has nothing to do with me.”

Mr. Liu's family went to the Tieling City Detention Center. The staff at the detention center did not fear the legal consequences and cooperated with the Qinghe Police Department to force-feed Mr. Liu.

Multiple Arrests and Imprisonments

This was the fourth time that Mr. Liu, who was a doctor at a hospital in Tieling City, had been arrested. Because he lived by the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and wanted to be a good person, he was illegally arrested multiple times and imprisoned in labor camps three times.

Harmonious Family Life Destroyed

Mr. Liu and his family lived a harmonious life. His former wife Wang Li was a ping pong coach. Their son Liu Bo was a good tempered kid. With the launching of the persecution of Falun Gong, officers from the Qinghe Police Department went to Mr. Liu's home multiple times to ransack it and they sent him to labor camps. Ms. Wang was under great pressure, and filed for a divorce while he was imprisoned.

Mr. Liu met practitioner Ms. Yi Liping at the end of 2006, whose life was in danger at that time. She was disabled, incontinent, and was in a dire mental and physical condition. Dr. Liu married Ms. Yi in July 2007 so that he could take care of her.

For many years both of them were homeless. Around the time of the 12^th National Games of the People's Republic of China this year, authorities initiated a mass arrest of practitioners at many locations in Liaoning Province, and Dr. Liu was once again arrested on September 12, 2013.

Attorney Threatened

The authorities at the Tieling Detention Center threatened the attorney that Dr. Liu's family had hired, and therefore he did not dare take his case. The attorney urged him to write a repentance statement and guarantee that he would renounce Falun Gong.

The attorney told Dr. Liu's family that he had to be carried by guards to meet with him and that if he wrote the repentance statement, he would be released. The attorney also said that Dr. Liu asked him to enter a “not-guilty” plea. He could provide no further information, as authorities at the detention center demanded that he not speak of his meeting with Dr. Liu.

Ms. Yi Liping Disabled from Torture

Dr. Liu's wife Ms. Yi Liping was once imprisoned and tortured at six labor camps. She was one of the female practitioners who was thrown into male cells at the Masanjia Labor Camp. She suffered humiliation and brutal torture. She is still disabled and hasn't recovered mentally and physically.
