(Minghui.org) Ten to twenty agents from the Yueyang City Political and Legal Affairs Committee, 610 Office, Lake Administration Bureau and Shuishang Police Station broke into the home of Ms. Zhou Dongying on Sept. 2, 2012. They abducted Ms. Zhou and took her to the Changsha Legal Training Center for brainwashing.
Ms. Zhou started practicing Falun Gong in late 1997 and has been repeatedly persecuted for her faith ever since the Chinese regime launched its violent suppression of Falun Gong in 1999. No words can fully describe the suffering that Ms. Zhou, her husband and her daughter have endured.
Detained, Beaten and Tortured for Peaceful Belief
In August 2000, Ms. Zhou and fellow practitioners went to the Beijing Appeals Office to explain the facts and appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong. However, the people in the Appeals Office would not listen to them or give them any forms to fill out. They said, "Do not talk to us about Falun Gong."
The practitioners then went to the Ministry of Public Security. As soon as they arrived and said, "We are Falun Gong practitioners," however, police officers ordered them to face the wall and squat on the ground. An officer wearing heavy leather shoes kicked Ms. Zhou's right thigh, leaving a large black and blue bruise on her leg. Upon learning that practitioners came from Yueyang City, police notified officials from the Yueyang Liaison Office in Beijing. The practitioners were then taken to the liaison office and imprisoned there for two nights. Afterward, they were picked up by the people from their workplace and taken directly to the Yueyang County Detention Center. Ms. Zhou was illegally detained for 12 days, and her husband was forced to pay 4,000 yuan and another 240 yuan for meals.
In late December 2000, Ms. Zhou went with fellow practitioners to Tiananmen Square in Beijing to let people know that Falun Gong (also called Falun Dafa) is good. She called out, "Falun Dafa is good!" twice before she was grabbed by the hair and dragged into a police car. The officers kicked her in the stomach twice. She and other practitioners were then imprisoned in the Shunyi Detention Center for more than 10 days.
On September 5, 2001, Ms. Zhou went to Xushi Town in Junshan District, Yueyang City, to tell people, "Falun Dafa is righteous and the persecution is wrong." She posted banners and distributed letters of appeal. However, she was soon arrested by officers from the Xushi Police Station and sent to Junshan Police Department. Officers Yu Zhihe, Zhao Wenhua and Li Qiliang beat her until she was covered in bruises. Her head was covered in blood; there was a one-inch-long torn wound between her left index and middle fingers; and her left arm was injured so badly that she could not move it. She requested to be taken to a hospital for treatment, but the officers refused. Instead, they handcuffed her and hung her up from a crossbeam for more than an hour. Zhao Wenhua used a cigarette to burn 12-14 spots on the right side of her waist. Ms. Zhou was then beaten until she collapsed on the ground, and then the three officers trampled on her back with their leather shoes. They tortured her from midnight until 6 a.m., taking turns to beat her. Afterward, Ms. Zhou was imprisoned in the municipal detention center for 48 days. Authorities planned to detain her in a labor camp for 1.5 years, but because of her weakened condition (due to torture and abuse), the labor camp would not accept her. She was released only after Yu Zhihe and other officials extorted 3,000 yuan from her.
Torture demonstration: severe beating
In July 2002, a local person reported Ms. Zhou to the authorities when she distributed informational materials about Falun Gong. At 5 p.m. the next day, she was arrested at home by officers from the Shuishang Police Department and the county Domestic Security Division. Political head Peng and Party secretary Liu from the police department fiercely beat her. They also struck her head several dozen times using a rubber shoe and their fists. Domestic Security Division deputy head Liu also grabbed her hair and slammed her head into the wall. Ms. Zhou was imprisoned at the Yueyang County Detention Center and the Xiangyin Detention Center for almost 4 months. She went on a hunger strike to protest the mistreatment and was subsequently sent home.

In November 2005, Ms. Zhou was taken to the brainwashing center in Hubin, Yueyang City. She was persecuted there for a month. Yueguan District 610 Office head Fan Yuehua, Xiao Xuejun, Huang Chunxia and more than 10 others participated in the persecution. Ms. Zhou was detained in a cell with two people who were assigned to monitor her day and night. They did not allow her to leave the cell and even watched when she took a shower. She went on a hunger strike to resist the persecution, but developed intestinal bleeding. Officials sent her to the First Municipal Hospital, where she was forcefully injected with unknown drugs; when she resisted, she was beaten. Afterward, Ms. Zhou was sent to the municipal mental hospital for further persecution, after officials from the brainwashing center lied and told the doctors that she had a mental illness. Ms. Zhou was tied to a bed and injected with medicine used to treat mental illness. She was also subjected to electric-shock therapy. As a result, Ms. Zhou began to go into convulsions and could not eat. Authorities finally released her after she became critically ill. They did not provide treatment for her critical condition. Moreover, they forced her husband to pay 700 yuan for the “medical expenses.”

In December 2006, Xiao Xuejun, Yuan Wubo and Fang Zhenxiang rushed out of a taxi and stole Ms. Zhou's bag as she walked down the street. Then they called Fan Yuehua and other agents from the Shuishang Police Department, who forced Ms. Zhou into the police car and took her to Yueguan District. Ms. Zhou was subsequently picked up by people from the Shuishang Police Station and imprisoned in the county detention center for 2 months. In the detention center, deputy head Peng Hezhang beat her fiercely. Because she refused to wear the prison uniform, he used a two-inch-wide bamboo stick to beat her from her shoulders down to her thighs. As a result of the beating, she was black and blue with bruises and terribly swollen. Ms. Zhou went on hunger strike to protest the persecution. Later, she was sent to a labor camp for one year. However, because she failed the physical exam, she was released.
In October 2007, Ms. Zhou was arrested when she spoke to people about Falun Gong in Xueshi. She was persecuted by officers from Xueshi Police Station and Junshan Police Department. They tightly handcuffed her hands, causing her to bleed, and also restrained her feet. She was detained in the Hubin Detention Center for 10 days.
Ms. Zhou was detained multiple times between 2008 and 2012 for exposing the persecution of Falun Gong.
