(Minghui.org) Sun Tao is a teacher at Chengjian School in Hebei Province. She was illegally arrested and detained in the Second Detention Station in Shijiazhuang City for approximately three months. Her family hired a lawyer, but the lawyer's legal requests to visit his client were denied three times. Ms. Sun had to do forced labor for many hours. She is now very weak and her liver disease has returned. The Yuhua District Procuratorate in Shijiazhuang City tried her in the Yuhua Court. After she was arrested, the police and the procuratorate broke many Chinese laws to get her sentenced.

Prior to learning Falun Gong, Ms. Sun had a serious liver disease and constant depression. She could not keep a job or manage her daily life. When she started to practice Falun Gong, she recovered quickly and became energetic. Once during a school road race spanning several kilometers, she surprisingly won first place. But because of this long-term, unlawful detention, she has not been able to do the Falun Gong exercises, and she has been very depressed. The long hours of forced labor have weakened her and she has become very ill again with her liver disease. She asked for medical attention for twenty days but the detention center personnel would not even respond.

When Sun Tao left home to go out with her friend, Qi Guoqin, at around 8 a.m. on February 25, 2012, a dozen officers in three or four police cars were waiting for her. Han Zenglu and Sun Changqing told her that they were from the Chang'an Police city police department. They placed handcuffs on her and put her into their police car. When they asked for the key to her home, she refused to give it to them. Han Zenglu slapped her and took her house key. They raided her home, confiscating Falun Gong books, laptops, a printer, bankcards, and private cars. They had no search warrant and did not itemize what they took. The police committed a crime of illegal entry and confiscating goods without a warrant.

Ms. Sun Tao and Qi Guoqin were taken to the Donghuan Police Station in the Yuhua District. Officer Han Zenglu did not once follow any legal procedures. On the morning of March 1, Ms. Sun was taken to the Second Detention Station in Shijiazhuang City. From February 25 to March 1, she was detained in the police station for six days, which was longer than the legal limit of detention in a police station without charge.

The Domestic Security Bureau of the Yuhua Police Department took Ms. Sun's car for their own use. A local saw the officers from the Yuhua Police Department driving Sun Tao’s car all over.

The Yuhua District Procuratorate was clearly aware that there is no legal basis for the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. They knew that Sun Tao did not break any law, but they still followed orders from above and arrested her, taking her to the Yuhua District Court to be sentenced. The police suggested to the court that she should be sentenced to 3 to 5 years in prison. Their excuses from arresting her were contradictory and full of flaws. Their initial reason was that Sun Tao had “participated in the Shen Yun promotion organized by Falun Gong.” However, when they were in court they changed their charge to “breaking the law about evil cults.”

After the police took Ms. Sun from the Yuhua Police Station to the Second Detention Station, she was required to do forced labor with the other inmates. The work was super intensive. They had to craft and arrange flowers to be used at funerals. The pieces were very small. Every day each person had to do about 10,000 manual operations. The detention station constantly held competitions and increased workloads up to 14 hours per day. No where in the Chinese constitution is forced labor legal.

Yuhua District Court already accepted Sun Tao's case. After reading it, the judge complained, “The procurator has been very irresponsible. How could they submit a case so full of flaws? The 610 Office directs all of our legal facilities.”
