(Minghui.org) More than 1000 Falun Gong practitioners in central Taiwan gathered on the afternoon on July 21, 2012, in Taichung Park to hold a rally and march calling for people’s attention to the ongoing persecution of Falun Gong in China. They also urged the people to help rescue Mr. Chung Ting-Bang, a Taiwanese practitioner who was illegally detained by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) agents a month ago when he visited China.

Several representatives came to the rally to show their support. Legislator Liu Chien-Kuo talked about how welcome Falun Dafa is in Taiwan and that it is taught freely. He commented, “It just blows my mind that the CCP continues to persecute the practice.” He asked people in Taiwan to stand up and voice support for Mr. Chung. He also called on the Taiwan government to rescue the practitioner in a more proactive manner.

Taichung City Councilor Liu Chin-He has been a long time supporter of Falun Gong, “I signed the petition to support Falun Gong 13 years ago when the persecution started in China.” Thirteen years later, with the persecution still ongoing, Mr. Liu called the CCP “lawless.” He expected the Taiwan government to quickly bring back Mr. Chung.

Ms. Huang stood in front of the rally. She said, “My sister practices Falun Gong and it’s a great practice. Why can’t people in China practice it? I can’t understand.” She came to the rally to support her sister and the practitioners. She signed the petition to demand that her government come out and actively save Mr. Chung. Many other passersby, like Ms. Huang, paid respect to practitioners’ persistent effort in fighting the persecution and rescuing the practitioners in China. They signed the petition and hoped that the Taiwan government could take a firm stand on the issue of human rights.
