(Minghui.org) On July 12-13, 2012, about 5,000 Falun Dafa practitioners will gather at the US Capitol at Washington DC to hold a large scale public rally and a parade, protesting against the Chinese Communist Party's severe persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners in China and calling for an end to the persecution. US Congressman Reid J. Ribble wrote the following letter to Falun Dafa practitioners in Wisconsin to support the rally in front of the United States Capitol Building.

Dear Member of the Wisconsin Falun Dafa Association,
I write to you in support of your rally in front of the United States Capitol Building. This rally is significant for several reasons. Perhaps most important is the symbolism you will achieve by gathering thousands of supporters to petition your government in support of a cause that has faced persecution elsewhere. In the United States, we hold sacred the freedom of speech, assembly, and petition, and the Capitol Building is an excellent backdrop for your cause.
Americans find it unconscionable when individuals are prohibited from exercising their most basic human rights. I write today in support of your efforts to freely and peacefully practice your spirituality.
Authoritarian systems frequently resort to the type of measures undertaken against Falun Dafa when they feel their moral authority is threatened. Peaceful mass movements such as yours endure violence, disenfranchisement, and psychological torture as a result of this.
Please know that the American people stand with you in your quest for freedom from persecution.
