(Minghui.org) Ms. Jiang Dejun, 66, a retired teacher from the Hechuan District in Chongqing, was illegally arrested by a plainclothes police officer on May 9, 2012 when she was seen handing a Shen Yun DVD to someone at a bus stop in Baishu Street, Hechuan. The officer slapped her hard across the face and told her that he had been following her for over a month. However, he later denied saying this.

When other plainclothes officers arrived at the scene, they confiscated Ms. Jiang's bag and took her house key. They then broke into her home and ransacked it. When they entered, they found Ms. Zhang Zhifen was there, reading. Ms. Zhang, 65, also a practitioner, kindly told the officers not to do anything wrong and not to commit a crime. She also told them that they would be punished if they persecuted good people, and that they should choose a bright future for themselves. However, the police refused to listen to her.

Ms. Jiang's daughter immediately went to her mother's home when she heard what was happening. She questioned who the men were and wanted to see their ID and search warrant. One of them replied: “We are from the police department. The search warrant will come soon.” A few other plainclothes officers arrived along with a man in a police assistant's uniform. Later, a uniformed officer arrived to take photos. More than ten police were rummaging around Ms. Jiang's home, leaving it in a total mess.

One of the police later turned up with a warrant and only showed it to Ms. Jiang's daughter. She was not allowed to handle it and only saw it from a distance, but she could make out that the document was an inspection warrant and not a search warrant. When she questioned the police about this, an officer replied, “The inspection warrant is what's required now. The search warrant was required before.” They then confiscated a laptop, printer, all of the Falun Gong books, MP3 players, cell phones, Shen Yun DVDs and many other personal belongings. An officer suspected that Ms. Jiang's daughter was taking photos of them with her cell phone, and so he tried to grab it, but was unsuccessful. He then viciously threatened her.

Ms. Zhang and Ms. Jiang were later taken for a physical examination at the Hechuan District Hospital of Integrated Traditional and Western Medicine. The officers claimed that they wanted to know whether or not Falun Gong practitioners could be examined for diseases. Without disclosing the examination results, they took the two women to Hechuan Detention Center, and extorted several hundred yuan in cash from them to pay for the hospital examination.

Many friends and family of the two women went to visit them on the afternoon of May 15. Ms. Zhang had to be carried out to see them. She was very weak and could only lie down while talking. She had been on a hunger strike for six days and was force-fed twice, which caused her nasal and oral cavities to bleed. As her family lived in another city, they were unaware of the incident with the police.

Ms. Jiang began practicing Falun Gong in February of 1998. She used to suffer from many illnesses including arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) to her brain, hypotension, gastroenteritis and cholecystitis, but all of these disappeared soon after she started practicing. She has been held in detention centers and labor camps many times over the past decade, and has been tortured often by guards.

Ms. Zhang is a retired employee from the Fourth Cotton Mill in Chongqing. She began practicing Falun Gong in 1997, and many of her illnesses disappeared soon after, including chronic headaches and heart disease. She has been detained three times in brainwashing centers and labor camps.
