(Minghui.org) My husband was riding his bike home one evening in September 2009, and ran into a big rock lying in the middle of a downhill road on the outskirts of our village. He was thrown off his bike and landed several meters away. The skin on his leg was injured and the pain from his thigh was almost unbearable. He slowly got up and insistently hobbled along to get home, despite the pain. I said when I saw him, “You will be ok, just take a rest after dinner and be more careful next time.”
The rocks were purposely placed there by a villager to stop passengers from running over his corn that was drying in the sun. Someone said that many people had been injured due to this pile of rocks, and a car was even turned over. The police were notified of the accident and told the village chief to fine the corn owner. I advised my husband, “Everyone has hard times now. Just let it go.” My husband disagreed. He left home very early the following morning and was told by other villagers, “The person who put rocks on the road has already run away to hide from the police.”
My husband was angry because this person's wife did not admit any wrongdoing, and conversely swore at him. He was advised by the village chief and a few cadres to get treatment in the hospital. They said, “This is not a minor accident. The police will definitely find this person, as many other people were also hurt.” I rushed to the scene and asked my husband to come home. I also called the village chief and said, “We will just settle this issue ourselves.” I calmed my husband down and said, “We live in the same village and see each other all the time. You were not seriously hurt. Why do you want to antagonize them? We Dafa practitioners should ignore her bad language, as we have high standards.” I helped my husband walk home and had him lie down. I then went to this person's house.
This person was not at home, but his parents and children were. His parents answered the door and held my hand with tears in their eyes. They said, “We are sorry about what happened. Our son and daughter-in-law really made us mad. They have caused a lot of trouble.” I sincerely said to the elderly parents, “Don't be mad. They did not do it on purpose. We encountered it today, but let's turn a big problem into a smaller one, and then into none at all.” Their son came home and heard what I said. He was moved and wanted to visit my husband with a present. I firmly declined the offer. Instead, I took this opportunity to clarify the truth about Falun Dafa and the persecution. I also helped them quit the Chinese Communist Party. Their whole family was saved. Upon learning how I handled this incident, the villagers praised Dafa disciples as being kindhearted and having high standards.
A few days later, I came across the parents in the market. They bought a basket of gifts for us. They insisted, “We feel very bad. It would cost us a lot of money if this accident was handled by the police.” I firmly insisted that we could not accept a present. I advised them to remember that Falun Dafa is good. All the onlookers said, “People who practice Dafa are good people.”
Hearing the praise, I thought, “This is also a test. I am still far from meeting all the requirements of Dafa, and I want to improve more diligently and save more people.”
