(Minghui.org) On the occasion of the upcoming 20th Anniversary of the introduction of Falun Dafa to the public, US Congressman Edolphus “Ed” Towns from New York issued a proclamation in celebration of World Falun Dafa Day. Below is the text of the proclamation.
A Proclamation Celebrating
World Falun Dafa Day
Whereas, on May 13, thousands of people across the country will celebrate World Falun Dafa Day, marking the 20th anniversary of the introduction of one of the world’s most popular meditation and cultivation practices; and
Whereas, Falun Dafa is a peaceful spiritual practice rooted in traditional Chinese culture, it consists of meditation, five gentle sets of exercises, and a moral philosophy centered on the values of truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance, which practitioners take as a guide to their daily lives; and
Whereas, since 1992, over one hundred million people worldwide have become healthier, happier, and more altruistic through their practice of Falun Dafa; and
Whereas, Falun Dafa is rooted in ancient Chinese spiritual tradition, it was first taught publicly in China in 1992 by Mr. Li Hongzhi, the founder of the practice; and
Whereas, Falun Dafa is practiced in over 80 countries worldwide by people of all ages and backgrounds; it is always taught free of charge by volunteers, and can be practiced individually or in group, therefore,
Be It Resolved, that on behalf of the people of the 10th Congressional District of New York, I celebrate World Falun Dafa Day.
