(Minghui.org) Ms. Chen Jinfeng and Mr. Lin Chuan, Falun Gong practitioners from Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province, were recently illegally arrested by police and are currently detained at the Mudanjiang Detention Center.

On March 7, 2012, restaurant manager Zhao Shulan reported Mr. Lin Chuan to the police for clarifying the facts about Falun Gong to the service staff. The police from Dong'an Police Bureau arrested Mr. Lin and sentenced him to 15 days of detention for “disturbing the social order” and sent him to the Mudanjiang Detention Center.

Ms. Chen Jinfeng was secretly arrested prior to 2012 Chinese New Year. Over the past 12 years, Ms. Chen has been arrested at least four times, sentenced to forced labor once, and sentenced to prison twice for her persistent belief in Falun Gong. She was repeatedly tortured in detention. In addition, Ms. Chen was fired from her workplace, the Forestry Broadcasting and TV College in Mudanjiang City.

Ms. Chen Jinfeng persecuted for over a decade for her faith

When Ms. Chen went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong in October 2000, she was arrested in the underground tunnel opposite Tiananmen Square. She was taken to the Mudanjiang local government's liaison office in Beijing and then brought back to Mudanjiang and held at Mudanjiang No. 1 Detention Center. Later, she was sentenced to two years of forced labor. Ms. Chen was released on October 10, 2002.

On April 29, 2003, Ms. Chen was reported to the police while she distributed information about Falun Gong near the Mudanjiang military area. She was tortured for five consecutive days and beaten until she was black and blue all over while in police custody. Sheng Xiaojiang, the deputy head of the police department, took the lead in torturing her. He shouted loudly, “Beat her to death! No one needs to shoulder any responsibility!” When Ms. Chen was taken to the detention center, her belly was swollen due to having been force-fed with mustard oil. She fainted several times a day as a result of the abuse.

One year and four months later, Ms. Chen was sent to the Harbin Women's Prison. Because she failed the physical examination, officials in prison refused to accept her, and she was brought back to the detention center. Yu Shilong, the detention center director, took off all her clothes and injected her with drugs. He also handcuffed and shackled her to rings affixed to the ground. She was not allowed to use the toilet. As a result of this abuse, her health deteriorated day by day.

On September 4, 2004, Ms. Chen was sent to the Harbin Women's Prison again and incarcerated there. In October 2006, because Ms. Chen practiced Falun Gong exercises in Ward 9, the intensified training center of the prison, Lv Jinghua, team leader of Ward 9, handcuffed and shackled her to a bed. Due to serious torture, she suffered from arrhythmia and she couldn't take care of herself. Early in 2007, Ms. Chen was transferred to the prison hospital. She was released on April 29, 2008.

On April 30, 2009, Ms. Chen was reported to the police while she clarified the facts about Falun Gong at the Mudanjiang Beishan Stadium. As a result, she was arrested and detained in the Mudanjiang Detention Center again. When she refused to have her picture taken or sign the incarceration document, the detention center director, whose nickname was “Tiger Dai,” handcuffed and shackled her to the rings on the ground. Because she refused to wear detainee uniform (to protest the unlawful detention), police officer Zheng Xiuli instigated a criminal detainee to violently kick her in the head and punch her in the chest until Ms. Chen fainted. Several days later, Ms. Chen still experienced a lot of chest pain and difficulty breathing. She also had difficulty walking. Finally, she went into convulsions. Zheng Xiuli then punctured her hands with needles.

At the end of August 2009, officials of the Aimin District Court held a secret session in the detention center and sentenced Ms. Chen to six years in prison. On October 9, 2009, she was taken to the Harbin Women's Prison. Ms. Chen was transferred to the prison hospital on January 29, 2010, and released at the end of 2011. However, in the beginning of 2012, Ms. Chen was arrested again. She is currently detained at the Mudanjiang Detention Center.
