I learned Dafa in May of 1996, and after recalling 15 years on the cultivation path, I’d like to share with you my experience of negating the old force's arrangement and resolving family issues. I work well with my mother-in-law (a fellow practitioner). By clarifying the truth face to face with strangers, we have deepened our understandings on the Fa and in our cultivation.
When the persecution began in July 1999, the Chinese media overwhelmingly slandered Master Li and Dafa with vicious lies and propaganda. Fellow practitioners and I went to Beijing's Tiananmen Square numerous times to appeal for Dafa. I was illegally arrested several times and held in detention centers, police stations, labor camps, and brainwashing centers. Under Master's tender protection and with righteous thoughts and deeds, I was able to walk away from those places safely.
Before the persecution began, my husband supported Dafa. When we did the weekly large-scale exercises, sometimes the music box batteries would fail and my husband would bring his car battery to supply the power. When the “False Fire” CCP TV propaganda campaign against Falun Gong was broadcast, he exposed the CCP lies to all his friends and the police. My husband believed that you could not be a bad person by believing in the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Whenever I was detained, he would go there to demand my release. Later the CCP thugs created disharmony between my husband and me by telling him that Falun Gong practitioners were too selfish, that they did not care for their family and children and only cared about their consummation. They used my husband's emotions to drag him down, and soon he developed negative thoughts towards Dafa, Master, and practitioners.
My son was ten years old when he and I gave out Dafa flyers, and we would also hang Dafa banners on trees. When I was in a labor camp, my son and his father relied on each other more and grew closer, and they both suffered mentally. I had a thought that was not righteous at the time: I mistakenly thought that I would show strong belief by not caring if I was held in a prison. At those times I did not know how to completely negate the old forces' arrangement, and, really, I did not even know about the old forces. The old forces used this loophole to try and destroy me. When I read Master's latest lectures I understood that being a Dafa practitioner in the Fa rectification period was our sacred mission to help save people. I realized what a historic mission we shoulder and that I was lagging behind.
But it had been a long time since I had studied the Fa. I felt inadequate when I began to study the Fa again and when I clarified the truth to my relatives and friends. My first test was my husband, because when he realized that I was practicing again, he was very angry. He began cursing me and he would not listen to what I had to say at all. I wrote him letters to help him understand how good Falun Gong was and that it was the CCP that he should be angry with.
When we visited his mother (also a practitioner), he threatened to call the 610 Office to come and arrest me. I stood up and firmly warned him, “I have not done anything wrong, and I do not belong there.” Even though I did not say much that time, I felt that righteous thought was coming from the origin of my life, and it was strong enough to split a mountain. My husband came home as if nothing had happened and the evil that was manipulating him had been eliminated.
I remembered a DVD clip about a fellow practitioner from Hong Kong and how, after his daily work, he would push his cart to where people gathered and set up Falun Dafa banners to clarify the truth and persuade people to quit the CCP. I envied his environment very much.
Master said: “My fashen in another dimension knows everything on your mind.” (Zhuan Falun)
Compassionate Master arranged everything for me: When our son went to college out of town, my husband started a business, and I helped him at the end of each month by writing checks and taking care of the taxes. At the beginning, my husband was worried that I was home alone, and he was afraid that I would be persecuted again. I also extended my time sending forth righteous thoughts. One day I was studying the Fa at home, and my husband picked up Zhuan Falun and said, “How many years have you been reading this book and still you cannot memorize it?” I knew it was Master enlightening me through his words. I began memorizing the Fa and overcame numerous difficulties. After I finished memorizing the book once, I went to clarify the truth with my friend who worked at a store. She was surprised, “They persecuted you so terribly, and you still dare to practice?” I replied, “I have nothing to fear, I did not commit any crime such as stealing or robbing. Teacher Li teaches us to abide by the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. It is Jiang Zemin who considers himself above the law by willfully ordering the elimination of Falun Gong in three months. It looks like he picked up the stone and dropped it on his own feet. There are people in over 100 countries in the world practicing Falun Gong.” She quickly agreed to withdrawing from the CCP and its affiliated organizations.
I memorized Zhuan Falun four times in one year. I understood many Fa principles and my righteous thoughts also got stronger.. I shared with my practitioner mother-in-law, “When fellow practitioners shared, they were all talking about how to save sentient beings according to Master's standard, but we just talked about our family tribulations, and when we saw the difference, we were so ashamed.” I teamed up with a fellow practitioner. Initially she would talk to the sentient beings while I would send forth righteous thoughts nearby. One day we went to a seafood store and met with the owners—a mother and daughter. The practitioner talked to them, but they did not want to listen. I offered to tell them a personal story: “My husband was driving his car when a young fellow on a motorcycle suddenly crossed the street without warning. The car collided with the motorcycle. When my husband came to his senses, he hurried to see if the young fellow was all right. The guy was fine with only minor scrapes. This was a fortunate accident because my husband believes that those who support Dafa receive blessings. What we want is peace and for our family to be safe, right?” They nodded their heads, and both of them happily withdrew from the CCP. Thinking back, at that point I had let go of my reluctance to talk to people because my attachment to reputation in that moment had gone. I understood it was not easy for elderly practitioners to clarify the truth face to face. I read an article where an elderly practitioner wished more young fellow practitioners would help to clarify the truth face to face. After all, most of them were well educated and more capable of telling people the facts about Dafa and persecution.
After that, I took my mother-in-law with me whenever we clarified the facts face to face with strangers. She could talk to almost anyone, while I still had a hard time letting go of my attachments, like approaching strangers, but I usually was able to clarify the truth well. When people did not understand, she would tell me to hurry up and explain better. I remember a dream very clearly: I had a bicycle on the wall. The wheels were as big as train wheels, and there were two seats. It looked kind of like a racing bike. Master was enlightening us to cooperate well, that we would then be fast and strong. I am almost 50, but I look like someone in her 30s, and it gives me a good way to clarify truth. Here are some examples.
A: One day we were clarifying the facts to a woman who was selling soft drinks. She was in contact with many people on a daily basis and many Dafa practitioners had talked to her, but she refused to quit the CCP. After I talked to her, she said, “It looks like it is time for me to quit the CCP. You look so young and beautiful, and you have a good temperament because you also believe this.” I told her, “It is because I believe in Falun Dafa and abide by the principles that I am this way. Plus, I am no longer young—I am nearly 50.” When she did not believe my age, I reminded her that cultivators never lie. Through the process of truth clarification, people see our sincerity, kindness, and selflessness through our words and deeds. We should always remember that it is Dafa and Master saving people—we are just carrying out the action.
B. We met a young man in his 20s in the supermarket. He looked gentle and kind, yet from what he said, we understood other practitioners had already tried talking to him. I sensed some cunning in his reply when we asked if he had already quit the CCP and he’d said yes. As we passed him, he mumbled that he had joined nothing. I turned around and told him, “You are not being responsible for your life, and you cannot deceive us. There are divine beings three feet above our heads. When you raised your fist and made the vow in front of the CCP's blood red flag, you swore that you would obey the Party and give your life to it. The CCP does nothing but evil: it kills for money, terrorizes its citizens, and persecutes Falun Gong. So heaven will eliminate the CCP, and you still want to give your life to it? When you were young, you did not know anything and just went along with the group, but think about it now. You have agreed to support a bloody revolution to the point of losing your life. How could that be right?” The fellow then readily agreed to quit the CCP. When we got on the elevator, we heard someone say, “It is not easy for you to do this.” I turned around and it was the fellow who had just quit the CCP. At that point I deeply understood Master's enormous compassion through his words, and I saw how people awaken after eliminating the CCP in their hearts and return to their original nature.
C: Near the ocean, I met a 50-year-old man. At first he was very antagonistic when I tried to clarify the facts to him. He said, “Do you realize what I do?” I replied, “What you do does not concern me. No matter what kind of career one has, how noble or lowly a person's status is, what is important is whether he or she is able to survive the big calamity happening in China. It was predestined that we meet. For example, you are drowning, and I am thinking of ways to save you. While you tell me you are not going to listen, I should let you die, and do such things exist in the world? The CCP has lost popular support, and the heavens are getting ready to eliminate it. You cannot stop the elimination of the CCP. Buddha only sees the human heart, and as long as you agree to quit, you will be different from others, because you will belong to the future.” He agreed to quit and said, “Thank you.” I used the same way to save many who knew the truth but refused to quit. I saw that no matter how unreasonable a person was, as long as we are not affected by their negativity, or whether they quit or not, we can use our compassion to eliminate evil and save them.
I was shopping for vegetables in our neighborhood market, when a lady behind me told me the vegetables here were very fresh. I looked at her and asked, “It seems that you know me.” She replied, “Yes, I know your mother-in-law.” I realized when I first obtained Falun Dafa, my husband took me to visit her once and she was practicing something else then. We introduced Falun Dafa to her and her husband. She said, “You look like you haven’t aged one bit. It was many years ago that I saw you, and you still look young and beautiful and have a sweet disposition. I trust your belief in Falun Gong, and I also read the fliers you and your family give out, and I know it is a good.” She had quit the CCP a long time ago. I realized that Dafa practitioners are a living and transient media. After I tell people the facts and persuade them to quit the CCP, I also tell them to remember, “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.” It will turn bad luck into good fortune and protect you.
Our family experienced this when, even during the recession, our business grew steadily. The factory owed us hundreds of thousands yuan. We handled it easily. If it is ours, we will not lose it; if it is not ours, we are not going to fight for it. My future daughter-in-law is very kind. After she learned the facts about Dafa, she persuaded her parents to quit the CCP. When she got her first paycheck, she gave me 100 yuan to use for truth clarification materials. She also taught me how to get online. Her mother also helps to prepare yuan notes before printing truth clarification messages on them. We have everything, from a house to a car, and Dafa has granted us all this. As a cultivator we care less about money, but that does not mean we should be penniless. Everything we have is Dafa's resources. This is also a strong point when we clarify the truth.
My mother-in-law could only read very limited Chinese, but after becoming a cultivator, she could read Zhuan Falun very easily. She is very healthy mentally and physically, and she also has good endurance. She kept herself busy on a daily basis, exercises and went out to save people. She felt the urgent need to go out daily. One winter she accidentally stepped into freezing water. She lifted her foot and stamped it once as if nothing had happened. No matter how cold the winter or how hot the summer, she has never complained of hardship. Someone asked her, “You are in your 70s. Why don't you stay home and enjoy life? Why do you keep going out?” She replied, “My Master asked me to save you.”
Last year, my future daughter-in-law took over my job. Now I can go out with my mother-in-law to the markets every morning to clarify the truth and save people. We come home to make the evening meal and send forth righteous thoughts, and no one in my family interferes with our schedule, as they all accept Dafa and count their blessings.
Dafa grants us everything, because we are particles of Dafa on a sacred mission. We work well together and are able to persuade precious Chinese to quit the CCP in a few minutes. We can see Falun Gong practitioners at bus stations, on the bus, in supermarkets, and at many public places.
I’m so grateful to have the opportunity to save people when we meet in the street. People will see the wonder of Dafa through us.
I had a dream the other day,. It was raining, and the raindrops look like pearls. I was dancing in the rain and thought, “How wonderful!” Soon the raindrops turned into cherry blossoms just like what we see in Shen Yun. Fellow practitioners told me that Master is encouraging me. Master said:
“Your journey is one where if you can take correct, right steps, the doors before you that were once shut will open and the road will become wide.” (“Fa Teaching Given at the Epoch Times Meeting”)
I am just one particle in the Fa. It was Dafa that created me, Master arranged my path, and I just did what a Dafa practitioner should do. I do realize the responsibility we shoulder. I will continue to study the Fa well, cultivate myself well, and work well with my mother-in-law to save more people.
