(Minghui.org) On October 19, 2011, Mr. Li Jie, a Falun Gong practitioner from Taikang County, Henan Province, was reported to police while distributing Falun Dafa informational materials. Members of the Taikang County Political and Legislative Commission as well as officers from the Domestic Security Brigade followed him and eventually arrested him. Mr. Li was held in a detention center where the guards instigated other prisoners to beat Mr. Li. After enduring severe beatings, Mr. Li suffered a concussion and started vomiting blood. The authorities have refused to release Mr. Li and have been harassing his family members and acquaintances.

On the day he was arrested, Mr. Li was riding a tricycle carrying copies of Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party. Five people jumped him and took him into custody. The person who orchestrated the arrest was Zhao Qingming, Deputy Secretary of the Taikang County Political and Legislative Commission. Ever since the persecution of Falun Gong began, Zhao has actively participated in the arrest of practitioners, collecting fines from them, putting them into forced labor camps, and arbitrarily extending their sentences. One practitioner from Taikang County was illegally sentenced to three years. Three years later, after he returned to Taikang County, Zhao ordered this same practitioner to be held at the Taikang County Detention Center for another year.

When Zhao arrested Mr. Li, Mr. Li tried to tell him and his subordinates the truth of Falun Gong and explained the facts of the illegal persecution. When officers from the Domestic Security Brigade interrogated Mr. Li, Mr. Li kindly asked them to learn about Falun Dafa.

While Li Jie was being held in the Taikang County Detention Center, the guards instigated other prisoners to beat him until he vomited blood. He was diagnosed with a concussion at the hospital. Guards Liu Laiquan and Kong Xiangjin threatened Mr. Li's family saying, “This is a light punishment. If Li does not give us his contacts, we will put him in a forced labor camp and beat him until he's dead.” The guards harassed Mr. Li's family every day in an attempt to get a list of his contacts. Zhao harassed Mr. Li's family, neighbors, and acquaintances as well.

On March 23, 2012, Mr. Li's family finally saw him in the detention center. It is currently unknown how much more suffering he endured while out of contact with his family.
