The Shen Yun Performing Arts continued the U.S. leg of its world tour with two performances in Indianapolis, Indiana, on March 13-14, 2012. The world-renowned classical Chinese dance and music company delighted fans and gained many more with the artistic and spiritual beauty of its original, multifaceted production.

Boutique Owner:I am going to come back next year!”

Joan Carney, owner of a wearable art boutique, looked forward to seeing the all-new production on Wednesday night, having experienced the majestic grandeur of Shen Yun’s artistry the previous year.

“It was fantastic!” she exclaimed after the performance. “This is my second year, and I just could not stay home, I had to come. It was unbelievable!”

Relaying her appreciation for the spectacular digital backdrops, “The words that made you think, the dancing, the technical ability of the people…I just couldn’t wait to see it again,” she explained.

The lyrics sung by the world-renowned tenor and soprano soloists of Shen Yun Performing Arts made an especially deep impression on Ms. Carney this year. “It talked about eternity and life and its challenges and all that. I think it’s just very powerful,” she said.

“I am going to come back next year!” declared Ms. Carney with confidence.

Ms. Joan Carney and Ms. Beverly Klapper

Retired PR Professional: “Phenomenal show!”

Ms. Carney’s friend, Beverly Klapper, shared the enthusiasm, calling the performance “phenomenal.”

“I liked the phrases [in song lyrics] about life, the ocean, eternity, and where we come from and where we are going. That’s what really got to me,” said Ms. Klapper, who is retired from public relations and social work. “The colors, the dancing, all of it—phenomenal!” she added.

Ms. Klapper also appreciated having the opportunity to learn about a culture different from her own. “That was the best—having both of the people [emcees] speak in English and in Chinese and giving us the background” for each program, she said.

“Phenomenal show!” she concluded.

Retired Attorney:Just out of this world”

Marge Miller and her husband, Dudley Miller, both retired attorneys, took in the Tuesday night performance.

“It’s just wonderful. Really, it’s beautiful. Everything—the dancing, the costumes, the singing—just out of this world!” enthused Mrs. Miller at the intermission.

He husband eagerly agreed. “I just absolutely love it,” he said.

Mr. and Mrs. Miller

“I thought the Monkey King was very entertaining—that was very funny,” shared Mrs. Miller, referring to a lighthearted yet profound dance program called "How The Monkey King Came To Be" from Chinese literary classic Journey to the West.

She was also touched by the dance "Lotus Leaves," calling it “beautiful” and noting, “The movements and everything are so delicate—it’s wonderful!”

The couple also appreciated the unique sound of the Shen Yun Orchestra, which combines Western and Chinese classical instruments in all-original creations composed specifically for each dance.

“The music is wonderful... It’s very beautiful,” said Mrs. Miller. “Especially when it’s accompanied by the dance, it’s even more beautiful,” she added.

Her husband concurred. “I like the mix of the Chinese instruments and the more Western instruments. That’s beautiful to hear,” he said.

Mr. Miller also appreciated adding to his knowledge base of Chinese history through the stories showcased in the performance. “[It] makes me thirsty for more,” he noted.

“Good and evil is a great, big part of all of this. I like that!” observed Mr. Miller.

“We are having a great time!” he concluded to the agreement of his wife.
