( Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhu Jingyun from Yongji County, Jilin Province was illegally arrested and sentenced to forced labor. He is being held in Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp in Changyun City. As a result of the physical abuse and torture, it was difficult for him to move his legs, and he had to be carried out when his family visited him. Despite his injuries, camp officials refuse to release him and work on “transforming” him daily.

Mr. Zhu was arrested around 6:00 p.m. on May 29, 2012. Participating in the arrest were about seven officers from Chaluhe Town Police Department including Fan Shoujun and Guo Laigang. They proceeded to ransack his home. Mr. Zhu was first taken to the Kouqian Town Detention Center in Yongji County and held for two weeks. He was then covertly sent to Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp in Changchun for a 15-month term.

Mr. Zhu has adamantly resisted being “transformed.” Division No.3 guards have abused him in an attempt to force him to “transform” him. Mr. Zhu was deprived of sleep for more than 10 days. On November 25 at around 5:00 p.m., he lost consciousness and went into convulsions. The camp officials then sent him to the Jilin University No.1 Hospital.

When Mr. Zhu's family was informed at around 9:00 p.m., they hurried to the hospital. A camp guard lifted the blanket that covered Mr. Zhu and said, “Take a look, we didn't beat him, there are no injuries on him.”

Mr. Zhu's mind was slightly more clear the next morning, but he couldn't speak clearly. He needed someone to help him use the toilet. The camp's Division No.3 head Gao and deputy head Yang Yi told Mr. Zhu's family, “You've seen the result of the medical examination, no illness.” A family member said, “If he is not ill, then why did he have convulsions? Is his loss of consciousness fake?” But the camp officials still refused to release Mr. Zhu and took him back to the forced labor camp.

Mr. Zhu's family went to the forced labor camp to visit him on December 3, and Mr. Zhu was carried out on an inmate's back. His family insisted on sending him to a doctor. They were able to send Mr. Zhu to the Jilin University No.1 Hospital on the afternoon of December 4 to have his brain scanned. After more than three hours, the doctors said his brain was normal. Mr. Zhu's family refused to accept the results and reasoned with the camp officials, “How can it be normal if he has no strength in his legs and can't walk?” Mr. Zhu's family demanded Mr. Zhu's release, but the camp officials refused to release him and took him back to the camp.

Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp currently holds about 40 Falun Gong practitioners. After the 2012 Chinese New Year, the guards began targeting practitioners. As a form of resistance to the persecution, Mr. Chi Yaocai along with Mr. Zhu Ruibang, Mr. Ma Guohua, Mr. Feng Chen, Mr. Liu Guochen, and Mr. Gu Guolin, who are all in Division No.3, refused to wear the camp uniforms between January 3 and January 16. Division head Gao Jianhui and others severely persecuted them. Many practitioners were placed in solitary confinement, shocked with electric batons, verbally abused, and had their terms extended. At least three practitioners' lives were in grave danger as a result of torture.

When the practitioners held a hunger strike and refused to wear the uniforms on July 20, 2012, to resist the persecution, the camp guards placed them in solitary confinement and force-fed them as a means of torture.

We hope that people inside and outside China will help to end this inhuman persecution.
