(Minghui.org) Qingzhou City Court in Shandong Province held a secret hearing against Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Lu Fengtian on the morning of December 10, 2012, because they dared not hold the hearing openly. In addition, they blocked Mr. Lu's attorney from representing him or even attending.

Mr. Lu's attorney went to the Qingzhou City Detention Center early in the morning on the day of the hearing to meet with him. Just as the attorney arrived, several armed police were about to take Mr. Lu into court. They told his attorney that the court had already appointed another attorney for Mr. Lu and that he was not allowed to participate in this case. Upon hearing this, Mr. Lu told the police, “I don't want your attorney, I have my own attorney.” When his attorney followed him to the Qingzhou City Court, he was blocked by a group of armed police and had to remain outside.

Mr. Lu is in his 30s. After the Communist regime started the persecution against Falun Gong in China thirteen years ago, he had to become homeless to avoid being arrested. He could not go back home.

However, after monitoring his daily activities, police from the Qingzhou City Domestic Security Division arrested him on April 25, 2012. He was detained at the Qingzhou City Detention Center. Seven days later, he was transferred to a secret place and detained there for almost two months. He was subjected to severe torture there. He was hung up for a long period of time and electric shock batons were applied to his chest. The police also tied him to an iron chair both day and night, with his feet shackled. During that time, the police did not allow him to sleep and tried to get him to tell them information about other practitioners. Police officers from the Weifang Domestic Security Division also participated. Mr. Lu did not cooperate or tell them anything. In the end, the police had to send Mr. Lu to the detention center. When he was given a physical examination before being accepted to the detention center, he was found to have developed hepatitis because of the persecution. His feet had very deep wounds because he had been shackled for a long time.

The Qingzhou City Court planned to sentence Mr. Lu. His family members hired an attorney to defend him, which caused the CCP officials in Qingzhou to panic. To prevent his attorney from participating in his case, officers from the Qingzhou Domestic Security Division and Qingzhou court drove several hours to Mr. Lu's hometown in Yishui, Shandong and threatened his family. The Justice Department in Qingzhou City even issued a document that prohibited the involvement of the attorney in this case or meeting with his client, Mr. Lu. Furthermore, the court appointed Mr. Lu a different attorney, going against his will and violating his basic human rights.
