(Minghui.org) Ms. Tan Zhen from Shandong Province was illegally arrested by the local police when she went to visit her friend in Beijing in March 2012. She was sent to the Daxing Women's Forced Labor Camp in Beijing for a two-year term in April 2012.
Twelve years ago, Ms. Tan was detained in a forced labor camp for a three-year term for practicing Falun Gong. At that time, her mother, Ms. Yu Lianchun, also a Falun Gong practitioner, was tortured to death in a forced labor camp in Shandong Province. Ms. Tan did not get to see her mother's body.
Mother Persecuted to Death 12 Years Ago
Ms. Yu Lianchun was born in 1944. She worked at the Dezhou Power Plant in Shandong Province. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began to persecute Falun Gong in 1999. In October of that year, Ms. Yu brought her daughter, Ms. Tan, to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong because she had benefited from the practice. However, she was escorted back to Dezhou City and detained. She was first kept in the dormitory of the power plant, used as a detention facility. At the beginning of February 2000, she was sent to the Jinan Women's Forced Labor Camp for a three-year term.
Ms. Yu was detained in the Fourth Division of the camp. Because she refused to give up practicing Falun Gong, guard Wang Shuzhen confined her in a warehouse, not allowing her to wash her face, brush her teeth, or maintain her hygiene for more than three weeks. Ms. Yu was given only a bun and a piece of pickled vegetable for each meal. She was allowed to sleep only four hours a night. Every morning before others got up, guards tried to brainwash her in the warehouse.
As a result of the physical and psychological abuse, Ms. Yu became delirious and her eyes glazed over. She sometimes murmured incomprehensibly, and she shook with fear whenever she saw Wang Shuzhen. Later, she had difficulty walking and almost could not recognize people around her. She could not care for herself at all. In less than 20 days, she had been tortured beyond recognition. Wang Shuzhen declared she was only pretending and would not allow her to get medical treatment. Ms. Yu was tortured to death in December 2000.
Daughter Subjected to Forced Labor
In October 2000, Ms. Yu's daughter, Ms. Tan, was sent to a brainwashing session in Dongfang Hotel in Dezhou City by the police and the CCP personnel of the Dezhou Power Plant. She was detained there for one month.
In December 2000, Ms. Tan went to Tiananmen Square in Beijing to clarify the facts about Falun Gong. The police captured her and took her to the Qianmen Police Station. She was transferred to the Fangshan Detention Center in Beijing two days later and then escorted back to Shandong Province and detained at the Dezhou Detention Center. Shortly thereafter, Ms. Tan was transferred to the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp and detained there for three years.
While Ms. Tan was detained at the forced labor camp, her mother passed away due to torture. Authorities did not allow Ms. Tan to see her mother's body. At that time, Ms. Tan was in her early 20s.
Ms. Tan Zhen Sent to Forced Labor Camp Again
Ms. Tan moved to Beijing after being released. Deceived by the slanderous CCP propaganda, her husband divorced her because she continued to practice Falun Gong. When her apartment lease ended, Ms. Tan moved out of town to the home of Ms. Chao Jianou, another Falun Gong practitioner.
On the afternoon of March 1, 2012, Ms. Chao gave a Shen Yun Performing Arts DVD to her child's teacher. The teacher reported Ms. Chao to police. Officers from the Wanshoulu Police Station ransacked Ms. Chao's home and arrested her and Ms. Tan. The two practitioners were sent to the Haidian Detention Center in Beijing.
Ms. Tan was transferred to Daxing Women's Forced Labor Camp on April 24, 2012. The notification of a two-year forced labor term was delivered to Ms. Tan's home in Dezhou City that day.
