(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Jian was arrested at his home at 6:00 a.m. on October 17, 2012. The perpetrators pretended to come to collect the gas fee and deceived Mr. Zhang into opening the door for them. They dragged Mr. Zhang, who was dressed only in his underwear, and forcibly carried him downstairs. Those involved in the arrest were Jianhua District 610 Office head Zhao Ping, Beidou Community head Jian, and police officers from Beidajie.

In less than 2 weeks of Mr. Zhang being detained in a brainwashing center, he was taken to the Qiqihar City No. 3 Hospital to have a physical examination. He had been physically abused and tortured at the brainwashing center. His voice was extremely weak, he had no strength, lacked appetite and could only eat some fruit. Agents from the provincial, city and district 610 Offices have participated in the persecution of Mr. Zhang. They also intended to extort money from Mr. Zhang's family.

Mr. Zhang, a teacher at the Provincial Agricultural Bank Cadre School in Qiqihar City, has been persecuted many years for remaining steadfast in his belief. He was illegally sentenced to prison, and held in Harbin Prison and Daqing Prison. He was physically abused and nearly died as a result of torture. His family members were called to the prison and told to take him home. He still has difficulty walking and needs help to take care of his daily necessities. Despite his poor health, Zhao Ping exerted every effort to try and force Mr. Zhang to renounce his belief in Falun Gong. Zhao instigated local police and community staff to harass Mr. Zhang many times before his recent arrest.

Crimes committed by Zhao Ping

Zhao Ping, in her 50s, is the head of the Jianhua District 610 Office in Qiqihar City. She has been actively involved in the persecution of Falun Gong since 1999, and has traveled all over China using public funds to learn from others about how to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. She has colluded with guard Wang Mei and Guo Li from the Shuanghe Forced Labor Camp to harass practitioners, in an attempt to get them to renounce their belief.

On November 19, 2009, Zhao was involved in the arrest of practitioners from Qiqihar and surrounding areas. She worked with agents from the Qiqihar Political and Legal Committee, 610 Office, Provincial Drug Rehabilitation Center and guards from the Shuanghe Forced Labor Camp. They held a 10-day brainwashing session, and forced some practitioners to give up their belief. They then used them as collaborators, including Er Jurong, to try to deceive other practitioners in an attempt to get them to renounce their belief. They also used the opportunity to extort money from the practitioners' workplaces.

Zhao also colluded with the head of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Central 610 Office in late December 2010. As a result, that head of the 610 Office came to Qiqihar, along with local agents from the Political and Legal Committee and the 610 Office. They organized party secretary heads of various departments and workplaces to discuss the brainwashing center. During this period, more practitioners were arrested and taken there.
