(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Linjiang was arrested and illegally sentenced to prison in 2005. He was incarcerated in Xinjiang No. 5 Prison, where he became severely ill as a result of abuse and inhuman living conditions. He was released in January 2011, but could not recover his health and died on October 28, 2012. He was 43.

Mr. Wang was arrested in Beijing in April 2005 by officers from the Tongzhou Police Station and the 610 Office. He was first held in the Tongzhou District Detention Center and then the Beijing Detention Center. He was tried in mid-September. No evidence of criminal activity was submitted and the trial ended hastily.

Mr. Wang was sentenced to six years in prison. He was transferred to Xinjiang No. 5 Prison. He developed diabetes and tuberculosis. His condition was not treated and eventually Mr. Wang could not walk, and he could not take care of himself. He was finally sent to the Xinjiang Prison Hospital for treatment. His family went to visit him and found him to be emaciated. His weight had dropped from 160 lbs to only 90 lbs. His eyesight was extremely poor. His family asked that Mr. Wang be released on medical parole, but the prison authorities refused.

Mr. Wang's family took him home in January 2011. By this time he was already near death. He could not eat and he coughed frequently. Mr. Wang died on October 28, 2012, at 43 years of age.

Xinjiang No. 5 Prison threatens and intimidates Falun Gong practitioners in an attempt to “transform” them and force them to write the three statements. The guards force practitioners to watch videos that slander Dafa and Dafa's teacher. If practitioners do not renounce Dafa after these brainwashing attempts, the guards then try beatings, sleep deprivation, and solitary confinement. Tiger benches are set up in the confinement cells, with handcuffs welded to them. Practitioners are handcuffed and shackled to the tiger bench for long periods of time. Some practitioners have died because of the inhuman torture. Mr. Xie Zhenggong from Urumqi Bayi Iron and Steel Company, Ltd., was subjected to long-term persecution in Xinjiang No. 5 Prison. His hair and beard turned gray after eight years of incarceration. He died on May 24, 2012, at the age of 42.
