(Minghui.org) Officials from the 610 Office of Donggang City, Liaoning Province, joined by law enforcement departments (police, Procuratorate, and court systems) illegally tried 60 year-old female peasant, a Falun Gong practitioner, Ms. Zhou Gongqing on August 30, 2012. The court completely ignored the lawyer from Beijing who pleaded not guilty for the elderly lady. After the court adjourned for a week, Zhou Gongqing was illegally sentenced to three years and six months in prison and is currently being held illegally in the Dandong Detention Center.

Details regarding Zhou Gongqing's case:

Zhou Gongqing, female, 60, was born on March 26, 1952 in Donggang City, Majiadian Town. She is a peasant.

Zhou and Falun Gong practitioners Sun Xiuhua and Xiu Guixiang were explaining the facts about Falun Gong to people on April 14, 2012, when they were arrested by officers from the Majiadian Police Station. This took place because an evil man, Jie Wei (formerly known as Jie Guijun), a villager from Xingtaidong, Shuang-shan-xi Village in Majiadian Town, reported them to the police. They were detained that tnight at the Dandong Detention Center. While in custody, officers Sun Defang, Cheng Renpeng, Wang Quankang, Qi Ziyi, and others used torture in order to extract confessions from the three practitioners. On May 13, Sun Xiuhua and Xiu Guixiangwere were illegally sentenced to a forced labor camp for one year and three months by the Public Security Bureau and Forced Labor Committee in Donggang City.

On May 9, 2012, Wang Shangqing, the chief of the Public Security Bureau, ordered the prosecutor's office in Donggang City to arrest Zhou Gongqing with the charge of “Suspected to have undermined national law enforcement.”

Zhou's family hired a lawyer from Beijing to defend her. The first time the lawyer met with Zhou was at the detention center. The lawyer noticed that she could not see nor hear very well, and had high blood pressure. Thus, they could not communicate very well. The second time the lawyer went there Zhou's family members had given her a pair of glasses, so that she could see better, but her hearing remained poor.

Family members went to the Majiadian Police Station to inquire about Zhou and were told, “Your mother is inside (the detention center). She did not do well because she did not say anything.” Police officers Sun Defang, Cheng Renpeng, Qi Ziyi, Wang Quankangand, and others used torture in order to extract confessions from the three Falun Gong practitioners. However, on the so-called "Record of confession," there was no signature from any of these practitioners. This suggests that these three practitioners had refused to sign it.

Officials from the Public Security Bureau in Donggang City used illegal means and interrogations in order to obtain illegally fabricated transcripts so that they could send Sun Xiuhua and Xiu Guixiang to a forced labor camp. The date for Zhou's trial was also set for August 23.

Zhou's relatives invited many local citizens to attend the trial on August 23, 2012, in order to see who violated the law, but the Donggand Court purposely avoided that by delaying the trial to August 30.

The presiding judge of Zhou's trial was Liu Wenguo, who had many involvements in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. When the lawyer was trying to defend Zhou, he repeatedly and unjustifiably interrupted the lawyer. Finally, he called a "recess."

Inside the courtroom, Zhou's family members were able to see that she had been maltreated to the point that she could neither see nor hear. Zhou is currently being held illegally in the Dandong Detention Center. Her family is not allowed to visit her.

On December 23, 2004, Zhou Gongqing was arrested by officers from the Majiadian Police Station. She was taken to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp in Shenyang City, where she was incarcerated for two years. At that time those involved in her persecution and maltreatment included Huang Baoheng, the director of the Public Order and Protection office in Shuang-shan-xi Village, Majiadian Town, and the secretary of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) branch in the village, Lin Qinggan.
