Dawa County Police Continue to Harass Practitioners

(Minghui.org) The police of Dawa County, Panjin City in Liaoning Province have been repeatedly persecuting Falun Gong practitioners during the last two months.

Twelve officers from Dawa County's Domestic Security Division and Xi'an Police Station broke into Ms. Zou Haiyan's home in the early morning of August 28, 2012. One of them was holding a piece of paper that he claimed was an arrest warrant for Ms. Zou. Her son, who is not a practitioner, tried to stop them from arresting her, but was beaten in the process. Several other officers went to grab Ms. Zou, but her husband pushed them away. The officers then turned on her husband and started beating him. One of the officers who beat her husband was Wang Gang from Xi'an Police Station.

Ms. Zou's husband had several health problems, but the officers still beat him. Three officers then forced his arms behind his back and handcuffed him. They then took Ms. Zou's husband and her son to the Panjin Detention Center. The officers also confiscated Falun Gong books and cell phones from Ms. Zou's home before taking her away.

When Ms. Zou's husband was released the following day, he went to the police station to tell them to release his wife. He also told them to pay for medical treatment for the injuries he received when he was arrested. The police officers did not want to talk to him and left the office. Only Wang Gang stayed and told him that he had to wait.

Ms. Zou's son suffered multiple bruises during the arrest and his face was severely swollen. He was not released from the detention center. Ms. Zou's cell phone was returned the next day, but it is suspected that it has been tapped and is being monitored by the police.

Li Xuehui from Zhujia Village in Dawa was arrested at home on August 28, by officers from Dawa's Domestic Security Division and Xinjian Police Station. Li is being held at Panjin Detention Center.

Ms. Zhang Guifen from Wangjia Township in Dawa was arrested around August 12. The details of her arrest and whereabouts remain unknown.

Mr. Sun Shouzhang and his wife Ms. Bo Shumin from Shuguang Village, Wangjia Township in Dawa were harassed by officers from Dawa Domestic Security Division for installing a satellite dish for their TV, as it is possible they may be able to receive broadcasts from outside of China. They had to flee their home to avoid further harassment. However, they were arrested on August 12 at the local market in Luyang Town in Panjin, and are currently being held at Jinzhou City Detention Center.

Ms. Zhang Xiuyu, a former teacher at Liaohe Petroleum Field Experimental High School, was arrested on August 5 in Tianjia Town of Panjin by officers from Dawa Domestic Security Division. She is being detained in Panjin Detention Center.

Fu Zhenguo from the Dawa Domestic Security Division extorted 1,000 yuan from Xu Xuebin of Qingshui in Dawa on July 7, 2012. From late July to early August, the local police kept harassing Xu, who then had to leave home to avoid further harassment.
