(Clearwisdom.net) I heard recently that practitioner Qin Yueming had been persecuted to death. I am shocked and felt very sad that I was not able to help him. When I saw his body I grieved deeply. The right side of his neck onto his back was red and swollen and I realized that he must have been brutally tortured. I thought, “What I can I do?” Reminded by fellow practitioners, I decided to write about Qin Yueming. the Falun Dafa practitioner who helped many people while being persecuted.
Qin Yueming
1. Qin Yueming Guided Me to Study the Fa and Share Experiences with Others When I Was First Detained
Qin Yueming was an assistant at our local practice site. Many local practitioners knew him. Before the persecution began on July 20, 1999, I didn't know him very well as I had met him only once. After July 20, 1999 he was unlawfully detained because he went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong and was then sent to a brainwashing center by the local Chinese Communist Party (CCP). On October 18, 1999, not long after he returned, he was illegally sentenced to the Yichun Forced Labor Camp. Just seven months after he was released from the forced labor camp in April 2002, he was again unlawfully sentenced to imprisonment for ten years. He passed away in prison before his sentence expired.
I was arrested by CCP agents in 2002 and detained in the Jinshantun Detention Center. During my detention, detainees were often moved around, and one day I was moved to a different cell. Before I settled down someone greeted me. At first I didn't recognize him, but then I realized it was Qin Yueming.
Qin Yueming was very approachable and easy to talk to. He noticed my cultivation state was not so good and said to me, "Let's study the Fa together, and share our experiences." I had only memorized a little of the Fa, while he had memorized a lot. So I stayed close to him every day. When he said one sentence I repeated it right afterwards. This was how I memorized several of Master's articles. We then shared our experiences and improved together. Qin Yueming's cultivation state was very good. He was calm and nice. I knew his wife had been sent to a labor camp, and his eldest daughter Qianqian was detained for 30 days by CCP official Kang Kai when she was underage and not even 15 years old.
Gradually my cultivation state improved and I truly realized "...the Fa can strengthen righteous thoughts." (“Drive Out Interference” from Essentials for Further Advancement II)
Then Qin told me that he had noticed my dark face and a fierce look in my eyes when he first saw me. He knew my cultivation state was not good. Because I wasn't doing well at the time my fellow practitioners were implicated due to my omissions. I felt very guilty. I hated the police who tortured me. My mental state was not like a Dafa practitioner, but Qin Yueming was good at helping others. As we continued to share our understandings we improved together.
We were separated from each other but because I spent the past 20 days with Qin I learned how to share experiences with fellow practitioners and could also guide others to be diligent and improve. It established a good foundation for my cultivation.
I am thankful for Master's compassion and protection and for arranging such a good practitioner to help and encourage me to cultivate. His demeanor, method, and attitude left a lasting impression on me. Each day I always studied the Fa first and memorized the Fa when I had time. When fellow practitioners were around, I helped them to memorize Master's articles too.
2. Qin Yueming Tortured by Being Hung by Handcuffs
Qin Yueming told me about his arrests and the torture. He was arrested by Kang Kai, Qi You, and Luo Yucai, and detained at Xilin Detention Center. He was hung by his handcuffed wrists at the eleventh level. The police told him the first level of being hung up would only last twenty minutes; otherwise the arms would be useless in the future. They said they only used the fifth level hanging up for criminals. But Qin Yueming was hung up at the eleventh level. After being tortured, several months passed by and his hands still did not function normally. There were two 2 cm. (0.8 in.) wide scars from the shoulder to his armpit. I saw the scars were still there on his remains.
3. Qin Yueming Clarified the Facts of Falun Gong at the Detention Center
The environment at the local detention center was very bad so Qin Yueming requested to see the director and jail guards. After he clarified the facts about Falun Gong to them both the cultivation states of detained practitioners and the environment at the detention center improved.
4. Transferred to Xianglan Prison
On February 5, 2002, the local detention center moved seven Falun Gong practitioners, including Qin Yueming and me, to Xianglan Prison. When he got into the vehicle, Qin Yueming told others not to think anything, and instead to just send forth righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil factors. As a result, when the vehicle moved, it hit a stone that hit the gas tank, causing a gasoline leak. The practitioners kept sending forth righteous thoughts along the way. When we passed Tangyuan Township, the rear left wheel fell off, but the vehicle did not flip over, and instead just stopped on the roadside.
In Xianglan Prison we were ordered to get up at 5:00 a.m. every day. After washing we had to sit along the hallway facing the wall. After several tries I found Qin Yueming, but they did not allow practitioners sit together. I could only stand behind him when we lined up for meals. He taught me several sentences of Master's articles. That is how I learned Master's article, “Towards Consummation.”
On December 25 2002, twenty days after we arrived, seventeen Falun Dafa practitioners from Hegang arrived. Qin Yueming shared with us that we should take the Fa as the Teacher, and not idolize anyone. There are no role models in cultivation. Our Jinshantun practice site was managed by Hegang practice site before the persecution, so we all admired practitioners from Hegang. After this, we studied the Fa and shared experiences based on the Fa with practitioners from Hegang. Through this we eliminated the attachment of idolizing others. This attachment no longer manifests.
5. Transferred to Jiamusi Prison, Resisting the Persecution
On January 14, 2003, Qin Yueming was sent to Jiamusi Prison, and we were separated.
In late December 2003, the prison started the movement of "Prison Civilization," and allowed prisoners to meet the prison director. Qin Yueming asked to talk with the prison director. I heard from fellow practitioners that Qin Yueming finally met with him. He talked very well, and the prison director said nothing. The effect was very good. Qin Yueming began a hunger strike to oppose the persecution and demand an unconditional release from prison.
In late March 2004, the prison division where I was detained was changed to be under the management of Jiamusi Prison. Qin Yueming and I were detained at the same location, but not the same branch, so it was no longer easy to meet. At the end of the year an inmate named Sun was transferred to my branch. He was previously detained with Qin Yueming and he said they had developed a good relationship. I helped him when he first came to my branch and he told me about the persecution that Qin Yueming had suffered.
He said the prison guards tied Qin Yueming's arms onto a pole and beat him. They also beat him while someone sat on his back. I met acollaborator named Wang Shiyou who had monitored Qin Yueming at the cafeteria. He said he knew Falun Gong practitioners, and said, "I admire Qin Yueming the most!" Later collaborator Bao Yongsheng said those people stripped off Qin Yueming's clothes down to his underwear, and forced him to sit on the cold ceramic floor in the hallway. They also poured cold water on him and made him sit there overnight freezing.
I don't know all the details but I do know he was severely persecuted. He was the only Falun Gong practitioner in that branch. Prison guard Liu Wei persecuted him and was promoted to the position of deputy political instructor. He was soon demoted to a gate keeper because of fighting with fellow officers.
6. Qin Yueming Lives in My Heart
When I was due to be released, I was transferred to the "Out of Prison Team" at prison headquarters. When I was ready to leave, Qin Yueming called out to me from the second floor. Facing the detained fellow practitioners, I was very sad. I shouted, "Brother, take care, take care!" I did not realize that would be the last time I would ever see him.
Although we were not together very long, we were so close during this senseless persecution. I will never forget how he helped me.
