Falun Dafa Day
Whereas: Falun Dafa is an ancient cultivation practice based on the universal principles of “Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance;” and
Whereas: Falun Dafa is a self-improvement system of exercise movements and meditation; and
Whereas: Falun Dafa is practiced by tens of millions of practitioners in more than 55 countries; and
Whereas: those that practice Falun Dafa believe that it helps to create well-being and better members of society; and
Whereas: it is important that the practice of Falun Dafa be allowed in all countries, and those countries that persecute against its practice are denying its people their basic human rights; and
Whereas: in addition, the brutal crackdown of Falun Dafa is in direct violation of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights:
NOW THEREFORE, I, Laurent F. Gilbert, Sr., Mayor of the All-America City of Lewiston, do hereby proclaim May 7, 2011 as Falun Dafa Day in the City.
