Falun Gong practitioners held banners in the rain, and held a candlelight vigil to memorialize the more than 3,000 fellow practitioners who lost their lives at the hands of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Passers-by stopped to ask questions and many signed a petition condemning the persecution.
A Chinese student listened to a practitioner’s explanation of the situation in China and decided to quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations. A man from Sri Lanka who experienced persecution by the communist party said, “I know very well the nature of the communist party.”
Twelve years ago, Falun Gong practitioners gathered in Beijing to appeal at the State Council Appeals Office after fellow practitioners in Tianjin were unjustly arrested. They called for the release of the practitioners and for the lifting of unreasonable restrictions that had been recently imposed on the practice by the CCP.
Ms. Bai said, “After the April 25 appeal, I felt that Falun Gong practitioners were righteous to have appealed. It conformed to China’s law. The CCP’s persecution of such a good practice is wrong. After I started practicing Falun Gong, my illness was gone. After reading Zhuan Falun, I finally found the truth that I had sought. After the persecution started, practitioners and I went to the Chinese Consulate in Sydney to protest. We have continued the protest to this day.”
Mr. Luo, who started practicing Falun Gong in 1997, said, “Falun Gong is very good. I think that the practitioners’ appealing in Beijing was right. The CCP initiated the persecution on July 20, 1999. So many years have passed. Many practitioners were beaten to death. The CCP even harvests organs from living practitioners for profit. Hundreds of thousands of practitioners are imprisoned in labor camps and prisons. We strongly protest the CCP’s persecution.”
Mr. Lai, who has practiced Falun Gong for about six months, knew about the persecution before he started practicing. He said, “Falun Dafa is good. I know this very well. The CCP is afraid of such a good thing and is therefore carrying out the persecution.”
