The host of rally said, "Having resisted the persecution for eleven years, we demand an immediate end to the persecution of Falun Gong, the immediate release of all illegally detained Falun Gong practitioners, and an immediate disbandment of 610 Office. We also demand that the chief perpetrators be brought to justice."

Mr. Wang Zhiyuan, spokesperson for the WOIPFG stated that eleven years ago today was the darkest day in human history. From that day on, the CCP has carried out a genocidal persecution against Falun Gong practitioners. He said especially horrifying has been the CCP's atrocities of harvesting organs from living practitioners, which has exceeded all crimes in human history.

Mr. Wang solemnly declared that the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong is not only targeting Falun Gong practitioners, but even more a fundamental destruction of righteousness and conscience in humanity. The principle of WOIPFG is, whoever has committed crimes should be held accountable. WOIPFG will comprehensively and thoroughly investigate all organizations and individuals that have participated in the persecution.

Representatives for the Global Service Center for Quitting the CCP, practitioners who have experienced persecution in China, and those who support Falun Gong also spoke at the rally.

More than a dozen Chinese people who stopped at the rally to learn more about the persecution of Falun Gong also chose to formally quit the Chinese Communist Party and its affiliated organizations.

When it was getting dark, the practitioners held a candlelight vigil to commemorate practitioners who have died as a result of the eleven-year long persecution.

Background

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a traditional Chinese spiritual discipline for mind and body. The practice involves slow, gentle movements and meditation. It is easy to learn, enjoyable to practice, and free of charge. Its principles are based on Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. The practice began in China in 1992 and quickly spread by word of mouth throughout China and then beyond. Its beneficial effects in uplifting an individual's physical, mental, and spiritual health, not to mention its positive influence in the community and society as a whole, have been undeniable. In fact, Falun Gong is practiced by over 100 million people in 60 countries. The main works of Falun Gong are available in over 30 languages.

On July 20, 1999, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) launched a brutal persecution of Falun Gong. Since the start of the persecution, Falun Gong practitioners throughout the world have been constantly speaking out about the truth of Falun Gong and exposing the CCP's crimes in a tireless effort to end the persecution.
