(Clearwisdom.net) On March 27, 2010, Shen Yun Performing Arts was warmly received at its second of five scheduled appearances at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Senator Mobina Jaffer thanked Shen Yun for coming to Vancouver.

Senator Mobina Jaffer, deputy chair of the Canada's Senate Standing Committee on Human Rights, highly recommended Shen Yun to all Canadians, saying, "Don't miss it!"

"It's an art form that we all should enjoy. I have enjoyed this show for three years, now, and I'm looking forward to coming with more of my family members next year," she said.

"The women's dances were just so gracious and the men did such an amazing job," said Ms. Jaffer.

She said that her husband came to the show last year and "just loved it." Pointing to her grandson who was by her side, she added, "and so did he."

Ms. Jaffer congratulated Shen Yun for reviving the divinely inspired Chinese culture that the Chinese Communists attempted to destroy when they took power.

"I think this is a beautiful art form and I congratulate the people who are reviving it, because I think the world would be poor without it," she said.

She concluded, "It's just beautiful--it is such a beautiful show. I wish more people could see it! The world needs more of this."

Human rights lawyer: "I totally enjoyed every single performance!"

Clive Ansley, a renowned human rights lawyer and vocal critic of Chinese Communist human rights policy

For the third year in a row, Clive Ansley, a renowned local human rights lawyer, thoroughly enjoyed the show.

"I thought it was terrific the very first time I ever saw it. I mean I just thought it was marvelous, and it has been every year," he said.

Adding, "I just totally enjoyed every single performance within it!"

In reference to the Falun Gong related content in the show, Mr. Ansley said, "Art is a great way for carrying messages, and I do not think art should be non-political at all.

"I think I might have lots of stuff in there about the persecution, about people who are trying to express their beliefs and holding up a 'Falun Dafa Hao' (Falun Dafa is Good) banner and being beaten by police and so forth. That is something that audiences in this part of the world need to see more of."

Commenting on the dancers' assorted flips, jumps, and other aerial maneuvers, he said, "I am absolutely mesmerized by the dancing, but as the host says, its not really acrobatics. Whatever the origins, it's just phenomenal

"And at the same time I love the tenors and I love the sopranos and these are some of the best that I've ever heard," said Mr. Ansley.

Regarding his growing appreciation for the show's backdrops, he explained, "Right at the opening I was noticing today that way up in the mountains at the top were these soldiers on horses--about four or five horses--and when it opens you assume that its just a painting and that it is going to remain rigid there. But all of a sudden, one of the horses is rearing up on its hind legs and doing this with the four legs, and there is movement and things happening everywhere.

"I mean, the background and the visuals are really phenomenal ... it's just one after the other. I enjoyed every single one of them."

He noted that intermission seemed to come a lot sooner than he expected, adding, "The same thing happened for the second half as well. So that is the old saying that 'time flies when you are having fun,'" joked Mr. Ansley.

Concert Master: "It's a wonderful show, absolutely!"

Tony Clark, a conductor, concertmaster, and musician, was especially impressed with the orchestra and its unique blend of Western and Eastern instruments.

"The music is very interesting because, of course, it's Western music with a Chinese flavor to it. The instrumentation used with the pipa and erhu and similar Chinese instruments, along with the Western instruments, is a very interesting combination of instrumentation.

"The blend of the Western and Chinese music is very effective. It's a wonderful show, absolutely!" he said.

Being a musician and conductor, Mr. Clark has seen musical performances in many countries in the world, including China. He remarked that Shen Yun is in a class by itself.

"This show is particularly interesting because it shows and traces the history of China instead of the circus-like shows I saw in China."

Mr. Clark was happy to see a woman conducting the orchestra, saying, "She is very capable and is doing an excellent job."

Mr. Clark noted that the backdrops and dancers were superb. "Everything is obviously very well rehearsed, very well done," adding, "Everybody's well prepared," and "everything is just flowing so beautifully," he said.

He also enjoyed the two emcees who provided the audience with background information on each upcoming performance.

"It's short what they tell us, it's just brief, but they really capture everything you'll see in the dance," he said.

Mr Clark concluded by saying, "It's an excellent show, I highly recommend it to friends. It's worth coming to see."
