(Clearwisdom.net) On the afternoon of January 14, 2010, a plainclothes police officer arrested practitioner Ms. Liu Yantao. The police also ransacked Ms. Liu's home on Buji Street in the Longgang District. Ms. Liu's mother, who is nearly 70 years old; Ms. Rong Fang; and Ms. Liu's third sister, Ms. Liu Bitao, were also arrested. The police have detained the mother and her two daughters in the Longgang Detention Center for over a month.
The family has suffered persecution many times in the past. In 2000 right before the Chinese New Year, the 610 Office of Longgang District Police Department arrested Ms. Rao. The 610 Office has harassed the family on major holidays every year.
On September 9, 2005, the 610 Office arrested Ms. Liu Bitao (the third daughter) and took her to Longgang Detention Center. On October 8, Ms. Liu was taken to a brainwashing facility inside Xili Temporary Shelter and Education Center. In the past, Ms. Liu Bitao had been imprisoned at Sanshui Forced Labor Camp for three years.
The oldest daughter, Ms. Liu Yantao, and the second daughter, Ms. Liu Jintao, have also been persecuted many times. Ms. Liu Jintao's husband, Mr. Li Fulin, participated in truth clarification activities with other practitioners during the Second Advanced Technology Exchange Conference of China on October 12, 2000. The practitioners gave out many flyers along the main streets of Shenzhen. Because of this, on November 8, 2002, the Futian District Court of Shenzhen City sentenced Mr. Li to seven years in prison. Mr. Li was released in November 2006. On February 27, 2007, the Futian Police Station arrested Mr. Li again and locked him in Shaoguan Prison for a four-year term.
The 610 Office of the Longgang District Police Department has been actively persecuting Falun Gong practitioners since July 20, 1999. They have followed practitioners, ransacked their homes, and imprisoned them in brainwashing centers, detention centers, and forced labor camps.
