(Clearwisdom.net) LOS ANGELES--Shen Yun Performing Arts, known for presenting classical Chinese dance accompanied by a live orchestra, has been performing at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion since the last weekend.

Mr. Mathews, well known in the high tech community, was the former Chairman and CEO of a successful high tech firm before co-founding another electronics company. Mr. and Mrs. Mathews both enjoyed the evening of dancing and live orchestral music with Shen Yun performing arts.

"I enjoyed it a great deal...it was very beautiful. I liked the music, the costumes, the dancing. Everything was spectacular," said Mr. Mathews following the performance.

"I think I enjoyed the artistic moments as much as any others...I like the baritone [Qu Yue], and I liked the soprano [Pi-ju Huang]," Mr. Mathews said.

However, maybe what was most impressive to Mr. Mathews was the erhu soloist, Xiaochun Qi. Mr. Mathews commented that he has been to Shanghai many times and that he is familiar with the two stringed erhu.

"I especially liked the erhu. I've certainly heard it many times in recordings, but I've never seen it played. It was just beautiful. Ethereal," said Mr. Mathews.

Shen Yun performing arts is the world's premier Chinese dance and music company. Currently, Shen Yun has three companies that tour the world simultaneously. Each traveling company includes a full, permanent orchestra composed of both western and eastern instruments.

Mr. Mathews enjoyed the Shen Yun orchestra very much.

"The orchestra was very, very good. Very, very good. I wish we could have seen them play... And of course, we knew where they were," said Mr. Mathews.
