(Clearwisdom.net) Over the weekend, on February 6 and 7, Shen Yun performed in Worcester, MA at the Hanover Theater for the Performing Arts. In the past, Boston had been the only city in Massachusetts where one could see Shen Yun. This was the first time that Shen Yun performed in an additional city in Massachusetts. The audience from the matinee show crowed over the performance.
Mr. Bart McHughes, a textile rental business manager, and his companion Cecilia Noback, a secretary, originally learned about the show from a kiosk in the local mall. Although they had been to other cultural events like ballets, neither had experienced a Shen Yun performance before, nor had they really had any exposure to any other Chinese shows. Mr. McHughes was impressed by the whole spectacular. "The costume[s are] absolutely gorgeous, the colors are fantastic, the music is wonderful, the stories are very, very interesting." He was also impressed with the digital backdrop, "[it] seems to be very well done also, it seems to help introduce the story and the show as it's going along so it's very unique.... but it's beautiful." He also understood the plight of Falun Gong in China after seeing it depicted by Shen Yun.
Mr. Monty Haas, a children's literature producer, also attended with family and friends. "Fabulous show, a wonderful show, inspiring, and extremely entertaining and thought-provoking," were his first comments. When asked what his favorite parts of the show were, he said the dancing, and he especially "love[d] the flying handkerchiefs and [the one] with the head-dress... the Miao people, very much." One of his friends who attended is an author named Todd DeBonis, who has written a series of books about a girl who learns she's the distant relative of the Monkey King. His experience with Chinese lore gave him a greater appreciation for the stories he saw on stage, "I loved it. It's brilliant. It's fantastic." He also commented that he would have loved to have seen one of last year's performances when Shen Yun portrayed the Monkey King on stage.

Also in attendance was Paul Troccolo, a biologist in the pharmaceutical industry, and his mother Cathy. They also learned about Shen Yun in the local mall. Mr. Troccolo "was actually walking through the mall trying to come up with a good Christmas present and this is something and I was just like, 'you know, this is going to be a lot of fun,' and it is." They had never attended a Chinese performance before, and found that they were thoroughly enjoying Shen Yun. "I absolutely loved the costumes. Each one is more intricate than the last and I think the use of color is phenomenal." He shared that he liked how the scenery on the digital backdrop matched the costume's colors and how the backdrop was used the depict things that were more animated such as "...when the girl went up to heaven. I thought that was a pretty neat effect, too."
