(Clearwisdom.net) While studying Master's new teachings "Be More Diligent" and "Fa Teaching Given at the 2010 New York Fa Conference," the concept I enlightened to most deeply is that I should diligently cultivate myself and save more sentient beings.
A Dafa disciple's true compassion will lead to a peaceful disposition, a warm smile, and sharing kind and touching words in a friendly manner. It's just like a spring rain flowing into the withered hearts of everyday people, so that they awaken from their numbness, reclaim their innate consciences, and change their mentality so they can choose a better future. Here are two examples I would like to share with fellow practitioners to save more sentient beings.
From Indifference and Incomprehension to Grateful Acceptance
Once when I went out to distribute the Shen Yun DVD, I saw two people talking by the roadside--a young man in his early 20s and a middle-aged man in his 40s. I walked over and took out a set of Shen Yun DVDs, handed it to the young man, and said, "I am giving you a set of DVDs of the global Chinese New Year Spectacular, a world-class performance, and known as the world's Number One show." The young man did not take it but glanced at the middle-aged man. The middle-age man took the DVDs and muttered, "Falun Gong." Then he stared at me and asked, "Do you practice Falun Gong?" I immediately sent forth righteous thoughts and replied with a peaceful smile, "If I did not practice Falun Gong, I would not selflessly give you this DVD. I just want you to understand the truth so that you can be saved. Falun Gong believes in Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance. Isn't that a good thing?" He said in cold voice, "Do you know what my job is?" I honestly said to him, "Your occupation is not important; the most important thing is that you are saved. I want to save you as a person. It will benefit you to watch the DVD." He was surprised and asked, "Aren't you afraid of the labor camp?" I smiled and asked him, "Why? Because I selflessly gave you a set of DVDs? I am doing it for your good. Why would you turn me in?" He was silent.
At that moment, a middle-aged lady came out from the roadside store. He said to the woman, "This is a Falun Gong practitioner." I realized that this was a family of three shopping together, and I smiled at the woman and said, "Watch this. This beautiful performance will truly change your attitude towards Falun Gong." The woman smiled and said nothing. The man weighed the DVD in his hand, and I said, "Its weight is not ordinary!" He looked at me for a minute, then changed his attitude, smiled, and solemnly said to me, "Thank you!" and then put the DVD in his pocket. I smiled and said, "If you want to thank someone, just thank our Master." The three people turned to give me a polite nod and walked away smiling. They went from being unresponsive and misunderstanding to thankfully accepting the DVD. While clarifying the truth, ordinary people's mentalities can be transformed instantaneously.
From a Mocking Sneer to Renouncing the CCP
In April 2008, my practitioner husband and I delivered Master's teachings to my sister. Once we got on the bus, my husband and I found a set of four seats facing each other. In the seat adjacent to me was a middle-aged man. Next to my husband was our neighbor, a female college student. After sitting down, my husband sent forth righteous thoughts and I found a topic and said to the girl, "Do you see any truth-clarification materials at your college campus?" (I'd clarified the truth to her before but she did not accept anything.). She smiled and shook her head. I was surprised and asked, "So at such a big campus, you have not seen any truth-clarification materials?" She nodded. Then the man sitting next to me said, "Stay at home to be a good person, and no one will interfere with you. Why do you have to touch on sensitive issues?" I corrected him, "You're mistaken. Cultivators have always been apolitical. We are not touching on sensitive issues, but the government suppresses us for no reason. The CCP has been slandering Falun Gong, forcing this good and honest group to come out to clarify the truth and to save sentient beings from being eliminated." He sneered and said, "It is a [CCP's slanderous term omitted], and practitioners in the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp are on group hunger strike." I guessed that he worked for the police department, otherwise he would not have known the internal situation.
I replied, "It is not how you say it is. It is righteous power, positive strength, the strength to defend the principles of the universe that enables them to be truly free from the fear of life and death." He sneered again and said, "It is like I said: the flyers are posted all over town." With dignity and a compassionate smile, I said, "Let me tell you again: it is righteous power and is from the bottom of their hearts. The power is boundless. It's not something someone can call for or forcibly achieve." He looked puzzled.
I began systemically clarifying the truth about Falun Gong to him. I told him that, after the 1992 Health Expo, Master taught 54 classes throughout China and about the numerous terminal illnesses that were miraculously cured. Master taught classes abroad in 1996 and Dafa has been embraced in more than one hundred countries around the world, receiving a multitude of praise. Since Falun Gong is good, it spreads from person to person, heart to heart, and many people practice Falun Gong. At that time, many people were practicing Dafa exercises in parks in major cities.
Then a woman across the aisle said in an unfriendly manner, "I do not believe in anything, I only believe in money. If you don't have any money, you cannot eat." Calm and friendly, I said to her, "You do not have to believe. No one is forcing you to believe. When you do believe, no one forbids you from making money and or eating a meal. That would be going to an extreme. You can be a good person on every level. Living according to Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance to be a good person, wouldn't that be good?" She grew silent, and nearby people were listening.
I told the man, "Because so many people practiced Falun Gong, Jiang grew jealous of Falun Gong's popularity and made trouble out of nothing by launching the persecution. In the Tianjin area, 45 Falun Gong practitioners were arrested without reason. Ten thousand practitioners went to appeal on their behalf on April 25. Some individuals took this opportunity to make false charges against Falun Gong." I told him about the staged "Tiananmen Square Self-Immolation" to frame Falun Gong and provoke hatred and bloody suppression. "From seizing power to establishing their government to the numerous political persecutions and from the Cultural Revolution to the Tiananmen Square massacre to the persecution of Falun Gong, the CCP has been doing evil things. Both men and the gods are angry, and Heaven will eliminate the CCP." The woman interjected, "Only a few of you want to defeat the Communist Party. How can an arm be twisted off the thigh?" I smiled and raised my voice so that more people could hear me, "You misunderstood. No one wants to fight the CCP. It's just that the Party cannot abide this good and honest group. The Party has played the tyrant for decades and murdered innumerable people. It opposes nature, heaven, earth, and mankind. It is an evil specter railing against the universe. Now the Heavens intend to destroy the CCP, and no one can prevent it from happening." I told them that remembering "Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance is good" would save them from danger and that renouncing the CCP would save them from elimination. This is the reason why practitioners spread truth-clarifying material at all costs.
The man said, "How long does it take for one to reach your level?" I said, "I began practicing in 1996, and before practicing Falun Gong I suffered from many illnesses: arrhythmia (my heart rate was more than a hundred beats per minute), rheumatism, gastritis, and galactophore hyperplasia, among others. I was out of breath after walking up just two floors. I had no energy to ride my bike. After practicing Falun Gong for less than four months, all my illnesses disappeared. It has been more than ten years, and I have not needed any medication during that time. It is not because I am not allowed to take medication, but, rather, since I don't have any illnesses, there is no need to take medication. How well one cultivates is not entirely dependent on the length of time, but on how well one cultivate according to Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance. Whoever practices benefits. Our Master has said, "whoever practices cultivation will attain gong." (Zhuan Falun). He remained silent.
It seemed he understood, so I said, "You have joined the Party, right? How about you use an alias to withdraw from the CCP? There is no risk to you." He looked at the girl and asked, "Have you withdrawn yet?" She shook her head. I immediately said, "You can't compare yourself to her. We are neighbors. She will still have the opportunity to do it later. If you pass up this chance today, tomorrow when you want to withdraw, you may not find someone to help you out, right?" He nodded and gave it serious thought. Then he keyed in two words on his cell phone as an alias to quit the Party. I read the characters, "Sincere Success." I immediately understood what he meant: he sincerely wished Falun Gong success. I smiled and said, "Let me show you something precious." I took out an article and let him read it. The beginning of the article was "Fa-rectification is sure to succeed, and Dafa disciples are sure to achieve Consummation. When Heaven dictates change, no one can stop it!" ("Greetings"). He read it attentively for ten minutes. Then he gave it back to me and fell into deep thought. I knew his life had been altered and saved.
That night I had a dream. In it, Master told me a four-line poem; unfortunately, I only remember one sentence: "It is like spring rain falling on people's hearts." I know this was encouragement from Master.
