North American Calligraphy and Painting Artists Association Secretary: "I Hope Shen Yun Will Perform in Mainland China"

Ms. Zhou Wenxi, secretary for the North American Calligraphy and Painting Artists Association

Ms. Zhou Wenxi, secretary for the North America Calligraphy and Painting Artists Association and consultant for the Paris Calligraphy and Painting Artists Association, said that she cried several times during the show. "[Shen Yun was] great! The acts matched the backdrop very well and accurately reflected the Chinese culture from different times and areas. I am an artist, and I love all beautiful things: The beautiful landscapes and costumes really caught my eye... Different ethnic minority groups in China have their own unique dance and music and they lived in harmony. It is very unfortunate to see the reality today [since the communist regime came into power]. I am sure that many young people in China know very little about our ancient culture that spans 5000 years. From history to tradition, including dancing and music, they know very little. I hope that this show will be performed in China, and I am sure that it will generate a huge sensation."

Ms. Zhou added, "I am about 70 years old. I learned classical Chinese dance and music when I was a teenager. The show brought back pleasant memories. Some acts made me cry. Falun Gong practitioners in China are being persecuted, and I cried even when I read news about their plight in the newspaper."

During the interview, tears rolled down her face several times. She said that she could not understand the communist atheistic propaganda as China has such a rich tradition in spirituality. "When we were just little kids, we knew that China is the Land of Divine. Everyone knew this, so I can not accept atheism."

"I am so happy to be here and to be able to tell this. My hope is that this show will be soon performed in China. I hope all my relatives in China will see this show," she concluded.

Ms. Zhou was born in Guangzhou and immigrated to the US in 1995. Her father is a renowned artist, and she started to learn calligraphy and painting from her father in her early childhood.

North American Calligraphy and Painting Artists Association Vice Chair: "The Vivid Performance Captivated the Audience"

Artist Huang Jingming praises Shen Yun

Mr. Huang Jingming is the vice chair for the North American Calligraphy and Painting Artists Association. He said that all the dancers were so devoted that even their expressions touched the audience, and, because of their excellent coordination, the presentation was very sympathetic and beautiful. He thought the show also reflected the dancers' high personal achievement in Chinese dance and music. He said that the backdrop, lighting, and costumes were also "very Chinese" and that they captivated the hearts of audience members.

Mr. Huang was born in Malaysia and worked in Guangdong Provincial Art Research Institute for over 30 years.

Retired Chinese School Principal: "A Grand Performance"

Mr. Chen Weiming saw the show with his wife. He survived the Chinese-Japanese War in the 1940s, lived in Vietnam for years, and once served as a principal of a Chinese school. After watching Shen Yun, he said that the show was, "A grand performance!"

Mr. Chen said that, although he has seen many Chinese shows since his childhood, "I have never seen such a grand performance! The dancers were so coordinated and natural. The backdrop showed beautiful and gigantic landscapes. It was so beautiful."

Regarding the inner meaning of the show, Mr. Chen commented, "First of all, I am not affiliated with any political party. The show portrayed true compassion and great forbearance. It also contrasted black and white as well as right and wrong. I am against anything that is not good [in the society]."

Mrs. Chen also enjoyed the show.

Chilean Opera Singer: "Shen Yun Made Me Feel Alive"
