(Clearwisdom.net) (By a correspondent from Guangdong Province) Mr. Zhuang Zepeng is a practitioner from Shantou City, Guangdong Province. He has been disabled since his infancy, when he contracted polio. He was released several months ago from the Meizhou Prison in Guangdong Province after serving an eight-year sentence. On August 14, 2009, however, officials from the Jinping District 610 Office in Shantou City tricked him into going to the Guanghua Street Community Office, where they arrested him. They then sent him to the Shantou City Brainwashing Center.

During his term at Meizhou Prison, Mr. Zhuang was held in the "strict discipline" unit, where he was assaulted by other inmates. His face was badly bruised, and his body was injured in several places. But he did not give up his belief in Falun Gong. At times he was forced to jump all day while maintaining a squatting position. He was beaten whenever he stopped. On cold winter nights, the guards and inmates deprived him of sleep. They did so by forcing him into the restroom every one or two hours and dousing him with freezing cold water. The guards also ordered the inmates to write defamatory words about Falun Gong on a piece of cardboard and hang it around Mr. Zhuang's neck. When Mr. Zhuang refused to cooperate, the inmates brutally punched and kicked him until he lay on the ground covered with bruises. Guards Rao Wei and Ye (first name unknown) brought other practitioners to the room where they tortured Mr. Zhaung and forced them to watch him cry while being beaten. They threatened the practitioners with similar treatment if they would not give up Falun Gong.

On April 25, 2009, Mr. Zhuang was released after eight years of savage treatment. He then contacted the following officials: Director Qu Yanhui and Deputy Director Cai Danxing of the Shantou City Agriculture and Reclamation Corporation (where Mr. Zhuang had worked); Party Secretary Xu Jianrong and Armed Forces Division Chief Hu Zhirong of the Guanghua Street Community Office; Directors Yang Shujiang and Hong Riming of the Jinping District 610 Office. Mr. Zhuang made three requests: (1) Return his home, which his company and the police had taken over in 2008. (2) Change his address of record to his home location on Guanghua Street. (3) Reinstate him in his job and restore all his benefits.

On August 12, officials of the Guanghua Street Community Office insisted that Mr. Zhaung's address of record should be changed to his father-in-law's home address. Both Mr. Zhaung and his wife considered this unacceptable. On August 13, when the officials wanted to discuss it again, Mr. Zhuang refused, since they had not changed their position.

On the morning of August 14, the officials contacted Mr. Zhuang's father and asked him to tell Mr. Zhuang that they would approve his request. They said Mr. Zhuang would need to come to the community office to complete the paperwork. After Mr. Zhuang left, however, he never returned. His family searched everywhere for him before learning that he had been taken to a brainwashing center.

Mr. Zhuang's wife told his relatives and friends about his situation. She also contacted several officials to request Mr. Zhuang's release, but none returned her phone calls.
