On the afternoon of July 5, 2009, Ms. Yang Guanghui, age 37 from Jilin City, Jilin Province was illegally arrested in front of the Jilin City Railway Station by officials from the Zhanqian Police Station in Jilin City. She is currently held at the Jilin City Detention Center.
Ms. Yang Guanghui's relatives, including her 10-year-old daughter, are doing everything they can, trying their best to save her, and looking forward to her return soon.
While detained at the Zhanqian Police Station in Jilin City, Ms. Yang Guanghui's hands were kept restrained behind her back and handcuffed to the chair. At that time, the policeman on duty was Ren Jianxin. In addition, Ms. Yang Guanghui's personal belongings were illegally detained. Her relatives went to the Zhanqian Police Station to visit her and to ask for her release; however, they were not only refused, but they were threatened by the officials there.
History of the Persecution of Ms. Yang Guanghui
Ms. Yang Guanghui from Jilin City, Jilin Province is currently a medical PhD student in Jilin University, and has been a teacher at the Jilin Air Force Academy of Medicine, now called Jilin Medical College. Since July 20, 1999 when the Chinese Communist Party started to persecute Falun Gong, she has been severely persecuted and has been subjected to forced labor twice. In addition, she has been harassed and illegally arrested many times by officials from various police units, and has even been unlawfully detained by her workplace.
In September 1999, Ms. Yang and two other fellow practitioners appealed to the Beijing Appeal Office for help; however, they were refused by the policemen there.
When she returned to Jilin City, Ms. Yang was illegally detained by her workplace for a number of days and was subsequently forced to be laid off from her job. At that time, Ms. Yang Guanghui worked as a governess, in order to support herself. She was reported while clarifying the facts about Falun Gong to her students, and was then arrested by the evil officials from the Gaoxin Police Department in Jilin City, who were acting under orders from the "610 Office" in Jilin City. The police smashed out her window, broke into her home, arrested her and ransacked her home.
Ms. Yang Guanghui was illegally detained for more than twenty days and was afterwards subjected to forced labor for one year. At that time, Ms. Yang Guanghui had just placed first throughout the whole of Jilin Province after taking the exam for the Job Placement for Civil Servants Examination, which meant that she could have chosen any job she wanted. However, as a result of her unlawful detention, she missed the opportunity to work in the tax bureau. Ms. Yang was forced to undergo brainwashing while at the labor camp. While detained there the evil guards used all kinds of torture methods to terrorize her.
In 2001, Ms. Yang went to Tiananmen Square in Beijing to clarify the facts about Falun Gong and was subsequently arrested by the police there. Later, she was transferred to the Jilin City Detention Center where she was illegally detained for more than forty days, and afterwards was subjected to three years of forced labor while she was unlawfully detained at the Heizuizi Women's Forced Labor Camp in Jilin Province.
Since July 20, 1999, the personnel at the Zhanqian Police Station in Jilin City have actively participated in persecuting many Falun Gong practitioners. Since the beginning of this year alone, they have participated in the persecution of at least four local practitioners.
