(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 37 cities or counties in 14 provinces. In this report, 25 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 63 practitioners were illegally arrested.
1. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Tian Fengying Arrested
Ms. Tian Fengying from the Lixia District, Jinan City, was arrested again on October 10, 2009. Her home was searched and four boxes of Falun Gong books and other materials, one computer, and one printer were confiscated. Mr. Zhou Dongdong from the Lixia District and another practitioner from the Waiying District were arrested at the same time. Both of their homes were searched as well, and six printers, computers, and other personal items were confiscated. Ms. Tian is being held at the Jinan City Detention Center, and her family is not permitted to visit.
2. [Zhoukou City, Henan Province] Ms. Liu Suqin and Ms. Liang Mei Persecuted in Shangshui County Detention Center
On September 10, 2009, Ms. Liu Suqin, a resident of the Chuanhui District in Zhoukou City, in her 60s, was arrested and searched by officers from the Shanan Public Security Branch in the Chuanhui District while she was shopping for food. After failing to find anything on her, the officers used the key they confiscated from her and illegally entered her house and searched it. Ms. Liu is being held at the Shangshui County Detention Center. She has been severely persecuted and is in very serious condition.
On October 11, 2009, Ms. Liang Mei, an employee of the Zhoukou City Countryside Highway Administration, in her 40s, was reported while she was distributing truth-clarifying materials about Falun Gong in Libukou Township, Shangshui County. She was arrested by officers from the Zhoukou Public Security Bureau and is being held at the Shangshui Detention Center.

3. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Several Practitioners Receive Heavy Sentences
After 8 months' of mistreatment, several practitioners from the Wutu Neighborhood in Changle County, who were arrested in February 2009, received heavy sentences. Mr. Gao Guangcheng from Qiujiahe Village was sentenced to 10 years and is being held in the Jinan Forced Labor Camp; Mr. Wang Deqin and Mr. Wang Rixin were each sentenced to 9 years and are being held in the Jinan Forced Labor Camp; Mr. Yu Xinshan from Yujia Village was sentenced to 10 years and was released on parole for medical treatment after 20,500 yuanwas extorted from his family; Ms. Li Guihua was sentenced to 8 years; Ms. Liu Yuhua (Mr. Wang Deqin's wife) was sentenced to 8 years; and Mr. Wang Jinpeng (Mr. Wang Deqin's son) was sentenced to 7 years. Mr. Wang Deqin, his wife, and son have developed heart problems from being tortured in detention.
4. [Weihai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zou Huaxiang's Whereabouts Unknown
On October 12, 2009, Ms. Zou Huaxiang went to the Jinqu Public Security Branch in an effort to rescue Ms. Song Ping. Ms. Zou has not been seen since then and her whereabouts are unknown.
5. [Anguo City, Hebei Province] Mr. Gu Zhanhui Arrested
Mr. Gu Zhanhui was arrested September 25, 2009. At approximately 6:00 p.m. that day, seven officers went to his house to harass him. According to sources, he was taken to the Shijiazhuang Prison.
6. [Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Ma Jinping Arrested and Money Extorted from his Mother
In the evening on September 29, 2009, Mr. Ma Jinping from Fengmao Forest Farm in the Jinshantun District, Yichun City, was arrested by officers from the Fenggou Police Station. His home was searched and he was taken to the Wumahe District Detention Center. In the afternoon of October 8, 2009, Zhang Chuanchen and other officers went to Mr. Ma's home and confiscated Falun Gong books and materials. Officer Wang Shoumin extorted 620 yuan from Mr. Ma's mother on two separate occasions.

On October 10, 2009, Ms. Wang Chunlan was arrested after officers ransacked her home and confiscated her computer, printer, DVDs, and other personal items. Her husband, Mr. Zhang Jinjun, is held at the Anshan City No. 3 Detention Center. The exact day of Ms. Kang Hongxia's arrest is unclear. Both Ms. Wang and Ms. Kang are being held at the Anshan City No. 1 Detention Center. Ms. Wang's daughter is under surveillance.
12. [Heyuan City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Huang Dejiao and Five Other Practitioners Arrested and Their Homes Searched
In the afternoon on September 23, 2009, Liu Lihai, director of the Longchuan County Public Security Department in Heyuan City, and other officers arrested Ms. Huang Dejiao, Ms. Guan Caiyun, Ms. Luo Yunxiang, Ms. Luo Qinglan, Ms. Chen Yumin, and Ms. Chen Qiumei, who was later released. These practitioners were all arrested in their homes, their houses were searched, and Falun Gong books and materials were confiscated.
13. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Li Changli Sentenced
On October 13, 2009, Mr. Li Changli, 41, a resident of the Longquanyi District, Chengdu City, was sentenced to 8 years of forced labor by the Longquanyi District Court. Mr. Li appealed the ruling.

14. [Beijing] Mr. Pang You and His Family Persecuted
On September 27, 2000, Mr. Pang was arrested and sentenced to an eight-year term. He was held in Qianjin Prison in Beijing, where he endured electric shock, sleep deprivation, solitary confinement, and other forms of torture. He was released in 2008. On August 3, 2009, he was arrested by officers from the Laiguangying Police Station and the Olympics Village Police Station for talking to others about Falun Gong.
Mr. Pang's wife, Ms. Guo Shujing, has been held in the Chaoyang Detention Center in Beijing for more than a month. Their school-age child was left at home alone without a caregiver.

15. [Tai'an City, Shandong Province] Practitioner Wei Arrested
At approximately 7:00 p.m. on October 11, 2009, Practitioner Wei was arrested in his rental home by more than 10 officers from Tai'an City. His whereabouts remain unknown.
16. [Fucheng County, Hebei Province] Ms. Liu Surong Arrested
At approximately 1:30 p.m. on October 13, 2009, Ms. Liu Surong from Qiansong Village, Gucheng Town, Fucheng County, was arrested at home by Wang Yunze, deputy director of the Fucheng County Public Security Department, and other officers. She was taken to the Fucheng County Detention Center and released after officers threatened her family and extorted 5,000 yuan from them.
17. [Yangquan City, Shanxi Province] Ms. Cheng Guifang Persecuted
On October 5, 2009, Ms. Cheng Guifang was arrested at the Taiyuan Airport after airport security found she was carrying Falun Dafa materials. She was detained by the airport police, who notified the Majiaping Police Station in Yangquan City. She was taken to the Majiaping Police Station at 8:00 p.m. that evening. Falun Gong books and materials were confiscated, and officers tried to force her to sign a confession. Ms. Cheng refused. The officers beat and kicked her and then took her to the Shenyu Detention Center in the greater Yangquan area. Officers Wang Wenjun and Shi Changmao from the Majiaping Police Station also confiscated her pearl necklace and a hair clip. Ms. Cheng was detained for 15 days and released at 9:00 a.m. on October 20, 2009, after officers extorted 750 yuan from her family.
18. [Mei County, Guangdong Province] Ms. Liao Xiukui Arrested
At approximately 10:00 a.m. on September 22, 2009, Ms. Liao Xiukui, a teacher at the Fanjiang Town Center Elementary School in Mei County, was arrested at school by Luo Zhanxiong from the Mei County Public Security Bureau and five officers from the Fanjiang Town Police Station. The officers also searched her home and confiscated her computer, copier, some truth-clarifying materials, and 500 yuan in cash. Ms. Liao is being held at the Mei County Detention Center.

19. [Shenzhen, Guangdong Province] Additional Information on the Trials of Mr. Li Yingkun and Ms. Liao Jinmei
In the morning on July 14, 2009, Mr. Li Yingkun and Ms. Liao Jinmei from Xi Township, Shenzhen City, were arrested and taken to the Gongle Police Station. They were taken to the Jiuwei Detention Center in Xi Township in the afternoon on July 15, 2009, and are still there. The Bao'an District Court has scheduled trials for Mr. Li and Ms. Liao at 9:30 a.m. on October 28, 2009.

20. [Dayi County, Sichuan Province] Mr. Wang Xiaosong Illegally Sentenced
On October 16, 2009, the Dayi County Court tried Mr. Wang Xiaosong. Mr. Wang and his wife are being held at the Xinjin Brainwashing Center.
21. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Zhang Runzhao Arrested at Home
On September 21, 2009, Ms. Zhang Runzhao, 44, a resident of the Huangpu District, Guangzhou City, was reported for talking to people about Falun Gong at school. Officers from the Huangpu District 610 Office went to her house and arrested her. Ms. Zhang tried to resist the arrest, and the officers pushed her down on the floor, injuring her lower back. She was taken to the Chatou Women's Forced Labor Camp on October 9, 2009.

Ms. Shang Guiqin, in her 50s, a former teacher at the Qilu Petrochemical Corporation, was severely persecuted while in detention. Her family took her home in June 2009. She died on October 2, 2009.
25. [Xinjin County, Sichuan Province] Eight Practitioners Arrested
At approximately 2:00 p.m. on October 8, 2009, Li Wenliang and other officers from the Wenjing Township Police Station in Xinjin County went to Ms. Zhou Guiying's home and arrested Ms. Deng Guifang, Ms. Xie Guiying, Ms. Tang Xiuyun, and five other practitioners for "gathering together." All eight practitioners were taken to the Wenjing Township Police Station, where they were photographed. Six of these practitioner's homes were searched.
All eight practitioners were released at approximately 6:00 p.m. that day.
26. [Jiutai City, Jilin Province] Ms. Liu Zhiyan Arrested at Home on October 12, 2009 by Plainclothes Officers

Ms. Wang Chunlan's home was searched around October 9, 2009, and a computer, a printer, and DVDs were confiscated. Her husband, Mr. Zhang Jinjun; her daughter; and her brother-in-law were arrested at the same time. Ms. Wang was arrested around October 10, 2009, and was to be taken to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp.

At approximately 8:00 a.m. on October 13, 2009, Ms. Zhang Kezhen, a resident of Antou Village, Yangzai Town, Zichuan District, Zibo City, who is in her 60s, was arrested by officers from the Zichuan Public Security Bureau, and her home was searched. She is being held at the Zibo City Detention Center.
Ms. Zhang was sentenced to two years of forced labor in 2001. On July 14, 2009, officers from the Zichuan Public Security Bureau jumped over a wall to get into her house to arrest her. She was threatened and photographed.

33. [Pingdu City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Xiurong Arrested and Money Extorted
On October 12, 2009, Ms. Wang Xiurong was followed by plainclothes officers while she was going to the marketplace in Hougezhuang Village to talk to people about Falun Gong. Officer Liu Jie from the Pingdu City 610 Office stopped her after she withdrew money at a bank. She was taken to the Chengguan Neighborhood Police Station. The officers confiscated her cell phone and address book and extorted 8,000 yuan from her family before she was released.
34. [Jiaozhou City, Shandong Province] Ms. Cao Xiucheng Released
Ms. Cao Xiucheng was arrested around October 16, 2008, while she was talking to people about Falun Gong. She was taken to the Du Village Detention Center. She was sentenced to one year of forced labor in early November 2008 and was held at Wangcun Forced Labor Camp. She was released in early October 2009.
35. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Additional Information on Ms. Sun Ping's Arrest
In the afternoon on October 9, 2009, several officers went unannounced to Ms. Sun Ping's home. She refused to open the door so the officers waited outside. On the morning of October 10, 2009, 20 officers from the Lixia Public Security Department and the Keyuan Road Police Station broke in her home and arrested her. They also confiscated her computer, printer, and other personal items.
Ms. Sun, 58, is an employee of the Pharmaceutical Company of Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. She attempted to go to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong after the persecution began on July 20, 1999. When the supervisors at her place of work learned of her plan, she was locked in a gate-house for more than two months. She was not given any bedding to protect her from the elements. Ms. Sun was taken to the brainwashing center by the Lixia Public Security Department in 2000 and 2001. Ms. Sun has been harassed many times over the past 10 years. Her daughter, who recently graduated from college, has been harassed as well.
36. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Mr. Wang Dairong and Mr. Wang Jianmin Arrested
On the morning of October 14, 2009, Mr. Wang Dairong was arrested at home by officers from the Erqi Police Station in the Shizhong District, Jinan City.
Mr. Wang Jianmin was arrested around the same time. His whereabouts are unknown.
37. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Mr. Chen Jinfa Arrested
At approximately 10:30 a.m. on September 24, 2009, Mr. Chen Jinfa of Dingjiazhuangzi Village, Kuiwen District, Weifang City, was taken to the detention center by the Dayu Township Police Station and the 610 Office. The officers confiscated four boxes of Zhuan Falun books, two paper cutters, one portrait of the founder of Falun Gong, several other Falun Gong books, a DVD player, and other personal items. Mr. Chen is being held at the Weifang City Detention Center.
38. [Jinyun County, Zhejiang Province] Mr. Shi Hanliang Arrested
At approximately 4:00 p.m. on October 14, 2009, Mr. Shi Hanliang, an employee of the Huzhen Town
Construction Bank in Jinyun County, was arrested at work by officers from the Wuyun Town Police Station and the Huzhen Town Police Station. Officers searched his home and confiscated two computers.

39. [Xinzhou City, Shanxi Province] Ms. Zhao Gaiping and Ms. Li Yuejuan Arrested
On October 11, 2009, Ms. Zhao Gaiping and Ms. Li Yuejuan were reported while they were talking to people about Falun Gong. They were arrested and their homes searched. They are being held at the Xinzhou City Detention Center.
40. [Hanzhong City, Shaanxi Province] Mr. Cong Xuelin and Two Other Practitioners Detained at Hanzhong Detention Center
At approximately 9:00 a.m. on September 25, 2009, Mr. Cong Xuelin, 39; Mr. Liu Wei, 45; and Ms. Zhang Qing, 45, were arrested by officers from the Dongda Street Police Station and the Hanzhong Public Security Bureau. They are being held at the Hanzhong Detention Center.
On the morning of October 12, 2009, Ms. Zhang's husband and brother went to the detention center to demand her release. The detention center refused and sent officers to search her home, where they confiscated 200 copies of Falun Gong related DVDs.
41. [Hanzhong City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Wang Guoying and Ms. Zhang Junxiu Missing Since September 25, 2009
42. [Inner Mongolia] Mr. Li Xiangyu Tortured in Tumuji Men's Forced Labor Camp
Mr. Li Xiangyu, in his 30s and of Hui ethnicity, is from Bairin-Banner in Inner Mongolia. For the past several years he has lived in Tongliao City, Inner Mongolia, to escape harassment by the authorities. He was arrested by the Tongliao City police in June 2008, and was sentenced to 18 months of forced labor. He is held at the Tumuji Men's Forced Labor Camp in Xing'an League, Inner Mongolia, where he has endured inhuman tortures.
According to the latest news, Mr. Li has been starved to the point of exhaustion. He has endured brutal torture for refusing to be cooperate with the labor camp in their attempts to "transform" him. His eyes were injured as a result of a police beating on September 19, 2009.
43. [Shuangliu County, Sichuan Province] Ms. Cai Jinxiu Arrested
At 10:00 a.m. on October 13, 2009, Ms. Cai Jinxiu, an elderly practitioner from Shuangliu County, was arrested by the police and her home was searched in the afternoon. Her whereabouts are unknown.
44. [Changde City, Hunan Province] Additional Information on the Arrest of Ms. Xiao Guixian and Others
On October 10, 2009, Ms. Xiao Guixian, Ms. Xiong Bifang, Ms. Zhao Qingxiu, and Ms. Zhu were followed and arrested by Public Security agents while the four women were distributing informational materials about Falun Gong in the Dingcheng District. They are being held at the Dingcheng District Detention Center, where they have been interrogated non-stop by the officers for the source of their materials. Their families are not permitted to visit. Ms. Xiao and Ms. Xiong's homes were searched.
45. [Changsha City, Hunan Province] Ms. Song Fangming and Her Mother Detained
At 10:00 a.m. on September 28, 2009, several officers from the Tianxing District Public Security Bureau, Public Security Department, 610 Office, and the Pozi Street Police Station broke into Ms. Zhou Guihua's home and arrested her. Ms. Zhou is 77, blind, and unable to look after herself. Her daughter, Ms. Song Fanming, 55, was also arrested. They searched the house and confiscated a computer, two printers, and other personal items.
After being detained at the Changsha City Detention Center for 15 days, Ms. Song was taken to the Changsha City Detention Center on October 12, 2009. Ms. Zhou is being held at the Laodaohe Brainwashing Center with no visitation rights.
46. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Mr. Zhang Hongwei and Wife Arrested
In the afternoon on September 20, 2009, Mr. Zhang Hongwei and his wife, Ms. Su Lixia, were arrested at their rental home by officers from the Qinduankou Police Station in the Hanyang District. Mr. Zhang was taken to the Taojialing Detention Center, and Ms. Su was taken to the Dongxihu No. 1 Detention Center.

47. [Zhangqiu City, Shandong Province] Mr. Gao Hong and Others on Hunger Strike to Protest the Persecution in Wangcun Forced Labor Camp
In June 2009, Mr. Gao Hong, Mr. Wen Dehuai, Mr. Sun Jiawen, and Mr. Zhang Weixing, who were held at the Seventh Division in Wangcun No. 2 Men's Forced Labor Camp, went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. Mr. Gao became extremely thin and was given an IV injection after he collapsed. Mr. Wen, 55, was diagnosed with a heart problem. His legs were severely swollen. Mr. Sun was beaten by officer Zhang Ruiming for refusing to do hard labor.
Mr. Li Jian from Sanwangyu Village, Caofan Town, Zhangqiu City, is being held at the Seventh Division. Both of his arms are disabled. He was regularly beaten by the guards and forced to do hard labor and clean the workshop.
