(Clearwisdom.net) At 2 p.m. on March 22, 2008, the Divine Performing Arts' first show in Sueseong Artpia, Daegu, one of the five largest theaters in Korea, earned generous applause and acclamation from the audience, many of whom were students from China.

Now I Understand

Two students, Li and Meng, from China, came to see the show on the recommendation of a friend. Li said that he had planned to go to Busan to see the Chinese Spectacular, and he had even reserved a big van. However, the show was canceled due to Chinese Communist Party (CCP) interference. When he was able to see the Chinese Spectacular in Daegu, he was very happy.

Having witnessed the Chinese Spectacular being interfered with and pressured by the Chinese Embassy, Li completely understood. He said that there were two pieces in the show that were related to Falun Gong. He was familiar with the topic because he had friends who practiced Falun Gong. Through the media's reports, information given by his friends, and having personally seen the show, he now realized how the CCP has brutally suppressed Falun Gong and what measures were used to suppress Falun Gong.

Depressed Mood Is Relieved

Li's favorite piece was "Drummers of the Tang Court." He sincerely hopes that the DPA can schedule more shows like this, because the loud drum beats were really uplifting. He said, "The performance was perfect. Listening to the drum beats really cheered me up. My depressed mood was instantly relieved."

Student Meng said, "The performance was so great. Each piece was unique. It's hard to tell which one was better. You cannot see a performance like this in China. There is just no comparison. It was very good. I will recommend this show to my friends and relatives."

The More They Don't Want Me to See Something, the More I Want to See It

One of two Chinese students from Kyungnam University in Busan said, "I know they don't let you see this in Mainland China. But I am a very curious person. The more the CCP doesn't want me to see the Chinese Spectacular, the more I want to see it."

Student Yang laughed and said, "When my friend told me that this was a good show, I did not believe him at first. Now I think it is very good. You cannot see anything like this in China. I like the series of dance dramas based on Chinese traditional stories. My favorite was 'The Loyalty of Yue Fei, and it was exactly what I hoped to see. I'm delighted. I got see something I could not see before."

Another student sitting next to him said that some of his friends who were also Chinese students tried to stop him from coming to the show, worrying that he would expose himself to CCP harassment if someone took his picture, and that would be bad for him. Yet, he still came despite those concerns.

Student Lin is a Chinese student who has been in Korea for one and a half years. He said, "I learned that the Chinese Spectacular was canceled in Busan. However, a friend of mine recommended the show to me and told me that it was especially good. You cannot see a performance like this in China. I think it was very good. What impressed me the most was 'Drummers of the Tang Court.' It stirred people's souls, and the sounds were loud and clear."

A DPA Fan from China

Mr. Yang is a DPA fan from China. He went through a lot of trouble to see this world-class performance in person. Mr. Yang said, "At first I heard that the DPA would perform in Singapore, so I went to Singapore. However, the show was canceled due to CCP interference. I then went to Malaysia, and the show was canceled for the same reason. Yesterday (March 21) I read in the Epoch Times and learned that the show was coming to Daegu, so here I am."

Finally being able to see the DPA's splendid performance after traveling so many miles, Mr. Yang was both delighted and moved. He said, "My favorite was 'Drummers of the Tang Court,' which shook my soul and resonated with me. It demonstrated male masculine power. I also liked 'Water Sleeves.' It was very graceful and fully displayed women's gentleness and beauty. This was the first time I had ever seen a performance that was able to demonstrate women's gentleness and beauty so vividly and incisively."

Culture Should Not Be Affected by a Political Party

Mr. Yang had high regard for the Chinese cultural content in the Spectacular. He said, "The performers have gone through very strict training in order to reach such a high level of artistry. This kind of promotion of Chinese culture included Tang Dynasty, Qing Dynasty, and Mongolian culture. In general, there are five ethnic groups in China, the Han, Manchu, Mongolian, Muslim, and Tibetan, and they were all represented in the show."

"You cannot see traditional culture displayed like this in China. China mainly advocates the CCP, and praises and glorifies the CCP. It is such a rare opportunity to see a show like this here. I think the promotion of culture should not be affected by a political party or a country's boundaries. We should help more people see the show. The CCP advocates atheism, and that is definitely not normal."

After the show Mr. Yang sincerely hoped that the Chinese Spectacular would have the opportunity to visit China. He said, "I thank the DPA for giving me an opportunity to see such a first-class performance. I hope the Chinese people can also see this performance. I hope the Chinese Spectacular can be performed in China as soon as possible."
