(Clearwisdom.net) Since the Divine Performing Arts New York Company arrived in Taiwan on February 29, 2008, it has performed 12 shows in Tainan, Kaohsiung and Taichung. On March 15, the Divine Performing Arts kicked off its premiere show of the Chinese Spectacular at the Taipei International Convention Center in the capital of Taiwan. Ms. Annette Lu, Taiwan's Vice-president attended the second show which started at 7:30 p.m..
The Divine Performing Arts will perform six shows of the Chinese Spectacular in Taipei, 12,000 audience members are expected to witness the Divine Performing Arts' graceful demeanor, including such dignitaries as members of the Cabinet, government officials, people from the circles of law, medicine, business, art, religion, and other fields.

Taiwan's Vice President, Ms. Annette Lu, watched the whole performance, and offered high praise for the Divine Performing Arts.
When the Divine Performing Arts New York Company first arrived in Taiwan on February 28 to begin its cross island tour, Ms. Lu sent a congratulatory telegraph to the company. She said, "Your company has been promoting traditional culture. Based on the ideals of interpreting the history and reproducing its glory, your performance has combined the arts of music and dance, and presented a unique and perfect visual and audio feast. It's delicate, elegant and thought-provoking. You have received broad acceptance and recognition from all sectors of Taiwanese society. I hereby wish your performances a complete success. Best regards to your health and an enjoyable New Year "
Ms. Ho Mei-yueh, Chairperson of Taiwan's Council for Economic Planning and Development (CEPD) attended the first show of the Spectacular and praised the company for its effort of carrying forward Chinese traditions. She expressed her curiosity about the Divine Performing Arts, "I'm wondering what kind of group it is to be devoted so much to such a career. This is what I'm interested in."

As for the performance, Ms. Ho said, "I like the 'Lady of the Moon,' and the 'Descent of the Celestial Kings' is new for me as I haven't heard of the legend. In addition, the technique of the backdrop is very good. Traditional dancing has only dancing, but the Spectacular not only integrates the setting and lighting, but the backdrop is moving; that is, it has a dynamic background, which forms a whole with the dancing. It gives me a good feeling."
Talking about the meaning behind the performance, Ms. Ho said, "I think it's very good that the Spectacular presents something that young people nowadays pay little attention to through dancing. The youth nowadays are unfamiliar with legends such as 'Lady of the Moon,' the story of Houyi. The younger generation might think they are outdated stories. However, when the stories are performed with dance, they have a different effect. The entire performance was very well arranged.
Finally she said, "They are selfless people as they are intending to help carry forward the Chinese traditions through such endeavors."

Mr. Chang Pen-Tsao, financial magnate in Taipei, Director-general of the Chin Ting Stock Group, Chairman of the Taiwan Chamber of Commerce, is an eminent person in Taipei. He is a GMD Politburo Member, three-term MP, national policy advisor of the Presidential Palace. He abandoned politics for commerce, and has been chairman of over a dozen enterprises. He attended the Spectacular in Taipei on March 15, 2008. He told the reporter that the Divine Performing Arts incorporated China's ancient civilization and culture into dancing and music, making it even more impressive for us than theater.
Mr. Wang Rong-chou, Chairman of the Bank for Medium-Scale Enterprises in Taiwan, used to be vice minister for Ministry of Finance, and Director of National Tax Bureau, attended the Spectacular, and said with a smile on his face, "It's really fantastic!" He showed particular interest in the rhythm of the performance. He praised that the Divine Performing Arts made him reflect on his own culture.
Mr. Wang said, "This is an amazing performance, presenting the essence of our ancient [culture]through simple concept and modernized performance, it has great depth."
An icon of Da Yan International Architecture Bureau, Mr. Su Yu-che, and his wife attended the Spectacular on the evening of March 15. What was the most impressive act for him in the first half of the show was "historical stories in Chinese tradition." He who stressed the native culture in Taiwan, was pleasantly surprised to see such a divinely-inspired culture in the Central Plains.
He said he felt warm inside as an overseas Chinese who has been living in New York for over 30 years. What impressed him the most was the dance "Water Sleeves," which was peaceful and harmonious. As soon as the curtain lifted for the dance number "Water Sleeves," be it music or background, he had a feeling of being beside the West Lake in Hangzhou City.
Ms. Lin Li-li,President of International Women's Association in Taipei,came with vice president Feng Wen-ying for the premiere of the Chinese Spectacular in Taipei. Both of them said they experienced the deep inner meaning of traditional Chinese culture.
Ms. Lin acclaimed the Spectacular for its strength and beauty. She was deeply impressed by the virtues of "loyalty, filial piety, integrity and righteousness," presented in the show, and she said that we should let more people know that the performance is rich in graceful inner meaning of the Chinese culture. She will definitely recommend her colleagues to come see the show next year.
Vice-president Ms. Feng Wen-ying, was born in Malaysia, and has been in Taiwan for 27 years. She had received an English education, and seldom read about Chinese history and Chinese culture. After seeing the show, she was very impressed. She said, "The stories in the Spectacular convey cultural meaning in the Chinese tradition. Just as the nine scorching suns, ("Lady of the Moon"), when Hou Yi shot the eight suns down and left one in the sky, I could not hold back my tears, I understood the happiness living under one sun. I was moved! It was really Excellent! Excellent! Excellent!"

Mr. Lin Hsiang-neng attended the opening show of the Chinese Spectacular and said emotionally, "The Divine Performing Arts interprets the dance and costumes in the Tang Dynasty, it was beautifully presented. The performers' entire performance was harmonious. The music was extremely good. Each act gave me a different feeling. I can say, 'Divine Performing Arts' presents the perfection of Chinese dance."
Finally, Mr. Lin stressed that if those who understand the deep meaning of the Chinese culture come to see the Spectacular, they will surely be deeply impressed.
(Clearwisdom.net) On March 8, 2008, after Keelung Chang, Professor at the Kaohsiung Medical University and Director of the Biochemistry Institute, enjoyed the fifth show of the Divine Performing Arts (DPA) Chinese Spectacular in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan, he said, "This performance made us think about how to become a person that is useful to society. Making the right decision in judging between right and wrong, kindness and evil, is the most important message this performance tried to pass on to people. The show did not stop at the level of pure aesthetics and music."

"The Chinese Spectacular is very good. In fact, this show is not merely a performance. It emphasizes the people-oriented philosophy of art. It demonstrated several key characteristics. The first one is the presentation of the basic goodness of human nature. We all have a basic nature, intellect, and rationality. The temptations of and desire for the material things in the human world might make us lose our true nature, what we often call 'Buddha nature.' This performance can awaken our Buddha nature through art, the artistic form, with dance, sound, and light. It can awaken our pure, original nature."
Inspiring Human Nature, Awakening the Deeper Meaning of Life
Mr. Chang continued, "Why can Divine Performing Arts awaken our true nature? The key is the content. It explains the deeper meaning of life that moves you and can cause you to burst into tears. For example, the lyrics by the tenor Hong Ming were very short and simple. But it touched your heart, inspired your true nature and awakened the deeper meaning. The dances, 'The Fruits of Goodness,' 'The Risen Lotus Flower,' and 'Awakening' all brought me to tears. I felt that when facing evil, sometimes human beings can be very helpless. People tend to overlook the power of kindness and forget to use it and hence give the evil a chance. Using black to represent evil gives people a strong feeling. The words 'Falun Dafa is good' on the wall itself is a shout, a shout denouncing the persecution and declaring the truth. The content of the performance can inspire people's kind nature. When witnessing the evil crushing the kind, you really want to help the kind person. Right now, I really want to go help."
"The show is fantastic and outstanding. But the most important thing is its content. Seeing this show is not just for entertainment. What is more important is what we have learned."
"There is also the demonstration of gods and Buddha in the performance. Buddha represents the kind side. But this is not just the representation of the image of Buddha. It underlines the connotations of Buddhism. One's Buddha nature can be easily lost in the quest for fame and fortune in human society. But on this occasion, you will be awakened, not by words, but by feeling. You feel that you have been awakened from within. Regardless of skin color or race, I think people will be awakened."
Nurse: The Music Gave Me a Comfortable Feeling
Nurse Yuzhu Chang from the Chang Gung Memorial Hospital said in an interview, "The music gave me a very comfortable feeling. It made me feel close and calm. The songs are good and quite moving." She said she liked "Descent of the Celestial Kings" and "Drummers of the Tang Court" the most because they were so exciting. She said that she felt an exquisite, encouraging feeling, similar to what is described in Buddhism.

Mr. Lin attended the Chinese Spectacular in Kaohsiung and praised the show highly. He said, "It's the first time that I saw such a performance! I was deeply impressed. The entire performance was compact and smooth. The hosts linked up every program with brief explanations, and it was really well-done. What was even more commendable was that the content was historical; for example, the legends 'The Loyalty of Yue Fei' and 'Lady of the Moon,' were presented and interpreted through dance dramas. It's a very good learning experience. We learn about Chinese culture and also appreciate the beautiful dances."

Mr. Lin was deeply impressed by the dances "Water Sleeves," "Lightness and Grace," and "Drummers of the Tang Court." He said, "No matter if presenting masculine strength or feminine charm, the performers' movements were precise and in sync. The melody of the music perfectly matched the dance performance. The change of dance postures, be it soft or powerful, presented strength and depth. It has the positive effect of inspiring and purifying our heart and soul. Also, the backdrop designs, and costumes were well coordinated, rich and diversified. All in all, I thought the show was stunning!"

Mr. Wu learned about the Chinese Spectacular from a friend, and was very pleased that he could attend the show. He said it was a beautiful experience. He commented, "The rhythm of the drumming was inspiring, very impressive. The dances were gentle and elegant, bringing a visual and spiritual joy. The vocalist sang the high notes so beautifully, and the music for every performance was pleasant to the ears. The dynamic backdrop was vivid and novel. The entire impression was very beautiful and enjoyable."

Ms. Li said that she was most impressed by two performances, "Water Sleeves" and "Lightness and Grace." She said, "The dance number, the background music, and stage backdrop were well coordinated, giving me a pleasant surprise, because the coordination was really terrific! Particularly the scene in the dance, "Lady of the Moon", when Chang-E finally flew up to the moon, at that moment, I was overwhelmed!"
(Clearwisdom.net) On the evening of March 11, the Divine Performing Arts of New York finished its fourth Chinese Spectacular performance in Taichung, Taiwan. Throughout the show, every time the curtains opened, the audience applauded enthusiastically. Many times the audience broke into applause during the dances, too. Deputy Director Tseng Neng-ting of Changhua County Cultural Bureau spoke with reporters after the show. He said that the show was a feast of sound and light.

Program Displays Principle of Kindness
Mr. Tseng spoke highly of the Chinese Spectacular. He called the members of the Divine Performing Arts "meticulous and highly skilled." He also said that the show was more than an artistic performance, and conveyed a deep principle. He said, "This principle is kindness." He also said that the Divine Performing Arts inspired kindness from the bottom of people's hearts, and that it would benefit our changing world and create a good environment for growth. "Some people's kindness is buried deep within and needs to be inspired. It takes a great teacher to generate such will," said Mr. Tseng. He commented that the Divine Performing Arts had subtly changed people.
Mr. Tseng said that during the two-hour performance, the Divine Performing Arts conveyed the message of kindness, especially to those who don't think about it in their daily lives. He called the performance a rare opportunity and a seed of kindness.
Persevering in One's Faith During Persecution
Mr. Tseng said that during the Chinese Spectacular, he could feel the Divine Performance Arts company's role in leading the revitalization of traditional Chinese culture and arts, and educating the public. He said he was quite touched by some segments, including the understanding of Buddha Fa principles and historic legends. Speaking of the two dances about Falun Gong, he said, "Even when persecuted, [the practitioners] persevered in their strong faith. This kind of devotion is extremely touching."
He was also inspired by "The Fruits of Goodness." The two young men in the dance found a bright new path in the Buddhist faith. Because of their kind thoughts, they were enlightened through their dreams. Mr. Tseng said, "I think it's not just the Buddhist faith. The same principle [of kind conduct] applies to the entire society."
Mr. Tseng said that the Chinese Spectacular by the Divine Performing Arts of New York was excellent, and beneficial for society. He encouraged everyone to come and enjoy the show.
(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Chen Chong-Jeng is the Chief Justice of the Taiwan High Court, Taichung City Branch Court. On March 12, 2008, he watched the final performance of Divine Performing Arts' Chinese Spectacular at the Huisun Auditorium of National Chung Hsing University in Taichung. He said the piece, "Drummers of the Tang Court" as well as the last piece, "Victory Drums" were both very inspiring and moving.

There were many kinds of drums in ancient China, but one can seldom find modern people who know their true meaning. Drums can not only inspire soldiers during battle, but they can also drive out evil spirits. It is said that in mythology, the Yellow Emperor (ancestor of the Han people) defeated Chi You (a war deity) using drums.
Mr. Chen was appreciative of the show's imaginative presentation of Chinese culture. "Every piece promoted Chinese traditions well, and the dancing was very pleasant to watch. 'Descent of the Celestial Kings' and 'Drummers of the Tang Court' purified people's hearts. 'The Lady of the Moon' is a story that every Chinese person knows, but we only read it in books. Now, it has been presented on stage, and it soothes people's hearts with memories. We were using our imagination when reading the mythology, but the realistic display with the scenery was more breathtaking than we could have imagined. 'The Risen Lotus Flower' manifested how Falun Gong has been persecuted, and it enables more people to learn the real story behind the persecution."
Mr. Chen praised the singers as well, saying, "What moved me the most were the singers. Their songs were so well done, full of energy, and their voices were all very clear."
Mr. Chen said he thoroughly enjoyed the entire show. "The performances were all very good and very exquisite. It presented five thousand years of Chinese culture, and the scenery fit perfectly with the themes. What was great about the show was that it encompassed many nationalities: Han, Manchurian, Mongolian... This show is a once-in-a-lifetime event. Tonight was a journey of the soul: a rich spiritual journey."
(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Chen Ying-Wei, a painter and professor at the Department of Cultural Business and Development at National Chin-Yi University of Technology, was very pleased after the show. "I am very moved seeing the idea of Buddhism being brought into modern art."

Mr. Chen does choreography, musical composition, and stage design. He especially appreciated the DPA's stage design, "The stage design, the tools, and the stage decorations are terrific. I am also very impressed with the lighting and sound effects in the show." Chen thought the show contained a spiritual quality that could improve people's morality. The stories about gods and Buddhas touched him.
Mr. Chen was most impressed by "The Loyalty of Yue Fei," "This program, with the drum dance, creates a powerful atmosphere." "I can see the artists spent a lot of effort in learning how to carry themselves gracefully and hold on to what they believe, which makes them very respectable."
"I have a sense of responsibility in cultural development and, to be honest, I would like to understand how this company promotes a show that can attract so many people--it's truly unprecedented," said Mr. Chen.
When Mr. Chen learned that most of the artists are second generation Chinese from the US, he was impressed, "It started in New York and comes all the way to Taiwan. That is great! I hope the third and fourth generations can continue the spirit. I am truly moved."
(Clearwisdom.net) Since the New York Divine Performing Arts performed its first show in Tainan on February 29, 2008, a great upsurge in interest in the show has emerged. Many audience members were so deeply moved that they shed tears. On March 10, Huang Yong-syue, CEO of Daibier Jewelry Company, watched the Divine Performing Arts show at Hueisun Hall in Chung Hsing University, Taichung City. After the show, she said: "I felt the program, 'To be Free' in the beginning was so perfect. I was so touched that I shed tears."

Huang Yong-syue thought that a big difference between Divine Performing Arts shows and other shows, was that Divine Performing Arts employs advanced technology and has made many breakthroughs regarding its backgrounds. She said: "We feel lively and dynamic. We experienced a close interaction with the performers. It seemed like we were part of the show."
Huang Yong-syue was greatly impressed by the backdrop. She thought the combination and display of culture and arts were perfect.
Huang Yong-syue, who has lived abroad over the years, was especially interested in the drum performance. In Japan and Thailand, she also watched drum performances. However, she really felt the heart-stirring quality strongly as she watched the drum performance in the Divine Performing Arts show. She indicated that playing the drums is not only for show, but for displaying the drummer's internal spirit. She said: "The Tang Dynasty was a flourishing age. The Divine Performing Arts performers did look very brave, which displayed that dynasty's imposing nature. I felt the scene was so real."
The program Huang Yongsyue enjoyed the most was "The Loyalty of Yue Fei". It reminded her of the true Chinese tradition. She said: "In the program, the mother encourages the son and the son accepts his duty. I was touched by the look in their eyes and the silent communication. It is because I also have a son."
Huang Yong-syue thinks modern people are very perplexed and cannot find their true selves. A layer of dust covers the human heart. She said: "Through watching the Divine Performing Arts show, people's true natures are recalled. In such a chaotic society, these programs can purify people's hearts."
Huang Yong-syue brought about a dozen committee members and their friends to watch the Divine Performing Arts show. She said with joy: "It is really a wonderful feast of the arts. If the Divine Performing Arts comes to perform again in the future, I will ask all of my friends to watch."
(Clearwisdom.net) On March 4-8, 2008, Divine Performing Arts presented the Chinese Spectacular in Kaohsiung Taiwan. Over the five-day tour, people expressed their deep love for these shows. Each performance drew a full house. Every day, more people stopped at the box office to buy tickets for the Spectacular. People of all ages, old and young, and entire families came to see the show. The wonderful, high-class performance moved the audience. A Minghui/Clearwisdom reporter from Kaohsiung interviewed several audience members:
Ms. He Zhihua said, "The sound of the drums was full of power and grandeur."
Ms. He Zhihua, who immigrated from Fujian Province in mainland China and settled in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, said, "I was trained in dance and feel that the dance skills in this show were very good. The stage backdrop is also very beautiful. The most touching thing is that these dance performances are al part of ancient Chinese tradition. Some examples are 'The Loyalty of Yue Fei' who served the country with utmost loyalty and 'Victory Drums,' the last performance, featuring traditional Chinese drums. As I watched, I felt excited. My son was happy seeing these performances, too. He's so young and could still understand it. Wow! I am so impressed."
A mother-in-law and a daughter-in-law from Chaozhou said, "We enjoyed every one of the performances."
A woman and her daughter-in-law from Chaozhou told the reporter that every scene was very beautiful. "We are surprised to see such beautiful performances. I shed tears when watching the first dance, 'Descent of the Celestial Kings.' Every scene was very beautiful and we enjoyed all of them from the first one to the last one."
Ms. Chen Shufeng from China Life said, "It's excellent. I am surprised to see such a good performance. I was moved by all the performances. After watching the show, I felt that everyone changed. They were different from before, easy to deal with and nicer. I think those who watched the show this year should see it again next year. Those who have not seen the show yet this year should see it. It would be a pity if you miss this chance."
A Buddhist monk from Fahua Temple in Sanwan Reservior, Desheng, said, "I wanted to see the Divine Performing Arts Show while I am still alive."
A Desheng Buddhist monk, accompanied by friends and family, traveled from Miaoli to Kaohsiung to see the second Divine Performing Arts show. He is about 97 years old. He told the reporter before entering the auditorium, "I have heard about this high-level performance for a long time. They said this show will be good to purify one's heart, and help one's cultivation. I have cultivated for about 50 years. I wanted to see the show while I am still alive." The monk said his grandson, who lives in Wenjianhui, bought four tickets in order to fulfill his wish.
Ms. Zhang Wanyong told the reporter, "I felt the show was truly wonderful. The dance about the two young men who came across a divine being ("The Fruits of Goodness") made a deep impression on me. I was very moved by this dance. The entire show was excellent. The audience responded with enthusiastic applause from time to time during each performance. I think people actually have kind hearts. Everyone has a kind heart, it's only that people's kind hearts have yet to come forth ."
Ms. Zhang Jinghua was moved by the inner meaning of the program. She said the dance "Descent of the Celestial Kings" really struck a chord in people's hearts and souls. There was a feeling that was hard to describe, hard to express in any language. She said, "I could not express it in detail, although it truly touched me."
Gu Heng, a young child, said, "I liked the dance, 'Descent of the Celestial Kings.'"
A young boy named Gu Heng said he liked the sculptures of the divine beings in the performance. He thought they looked very good. He said he liked that story and also the divine beings, and especially the Bodhisattvas on the stage.
Mr. Zeng Ruiming said, "The Divine Performing Arts shows are really exquisite. I liked this show a lot. I am shedding tears right now. They promote traditional Chinese culture even though they are living abroad. I feel that it's really difficult to do that, especially in the United States. They still promote such historical Chinese culture. It's really beautiful. I liked it a lot."
Lin Peiren said, "This kind of performance can purify people's hearts."
Lin Peiren told the reporter, "The story about the 'Lady of the Moon' is our traditional legend. Therefore when we see it on the stage, it conveys to us higher realms and feelings. The 'Victory Drums' and 'Drummers of the Tang Court' were both very stirring. Moreover, using traditional Chinese dance to express ancient Chinese culture in such an unconventional performance can have an effect of purifying people's hearts."
(Clearwisdom.net) Attorney Terri Marsh, Executive Director of the Human Rights Law Foundation, submitted a legal document to the United States Court of Appeals, 2nd Circuit Court on March 10, 2008. The document pointed out that China Central Television (CCTV), which was sued two years ago, should not have foreign immunity.
On January 23, 2006, the International Judicial Association, the American World Human Rights Organization and International Human Rights Legal Project jointly submitted a petition to the United States District Court of the Southern District of New York, suing CCTV for aiding, instigating, inciting, coordinating crimes, ordering, planning, encouraging and promoting torture and genocide of Falun Gong practitioners. This programming was initiated and planned by the CCP and its prime culprits Jiang Zemin, Luo Gan, Li Lanqing, Bo Xilai, Ye Xiaowen and Wang Xudong and others. The plaintiffs are five Falun Gong practitioners including Wang Huimin and Chen Gang.
This civil dispute over suing CCTV is mainly based on the "Alien Tort Claim Act" and "Torture Victims Protection Act". Precisely because of these two bills, Party Committee Secretary Liu Qi from Beijing and Deputy Governor Xia Deren from Liaoning Province have already been announced guilty by the American court.
Chen Gang and other plaintiffs pointed out in their petition that the defendant adopted the same behavior as Nazi Germany did in World War II when reporting in its media and TV programs. They are using the exact same propaganda as during the genocide of Rwanda's Tutsi by the Hutu, and the "ethnic cleansing" in Yugoslavia by Slobodan Milosevic. In the occurrence of all these violent attacks and slaughter, slanderous propaganda played an important role, enabling evildoing to occur and continue.
Such propaganda techniques are exposed on the Chinese Communist Party's website, Chinese Anti-Cult Association (CACA): "First decide who the terrorist is, then choose suitable measures." (From the Xinhua website, one of the Chinese Communist Party's main official mouthpieces). The CCTV repeatedly describes terrorists, criminal offenders, psychopaths, and other criminals as being Falun Gong practitioners in its news reports, documentary films and interview programs. Through massively distributed and sedulously produced lies, the CCP incites hatred and deceives the public, police and security system to arrest and detain Falun Gong practitioners. Those practitioners are then illegally interrogated and tortured, and subjected to brutal brainwashing, with the aim of forcing practitioners to give up their belief. On many occasions, Falun Gong practitioners have lost their life for holding on to their belief.
The extent of the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners and its degree of severity is nationwide and the persecution of Falun Gong in every province in China has been verified and recorded in detail in US State Department reports on Human Rights Practices, especially in the annual report of the US State Department on international religion freedom. Also, non-governmental human rights organizations, such as Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch have records regarding the persecution. The US State Department's 2006 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices pointed out: "Among 250,000 prisoners in forced labor camps in China, at least half of them are Falun Gong practitioners. UN Special Rapporteur Manfred Nowak said in his report, at least two thirds of torture victims in China's prisons are Falun Gong practitioners."
Attorney Terri Marsh wrote in her legal document submitted to the United States Court of Appeals of the 2nd Circuit Court on March 10, 2008:
"A careful reading of the complaint and especially the testimonials of the Plaintiffs reveals the depravity of the persecutory acts that Defendant China Central Television perpetrated through its anti-Falun Gong broadcasts in the United States on CCTV channel 4 and in China on CCTV channel 1. Like the torturer described by the Second Circuit Court in Filartiga v. Pena Irala, 630 F.2d 876, 890 (2d Cir. 1980) as the "hostis humani generis" ("enemy of all mankind"), those who make such acts possible and those without whom such acts could not take place also situate themselves outside of the community of man, and, they must not be permitted to perpetrate these crimes with impunity."
On legal procedure, this case is under appeal in the 2nd Circuit Court (intermediate court). Besides the "China Bar Association" representing the CCP's attempted interference in the case as a third party, defendant CCTV has not responded in any form to the charges. The primary court rejected intervention of the "China Bar Association," but mistakenly ruled that the defendant has immunity under "Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act" (FSIA). Attorney Marsh said that the CCTV does not have any immunity rights under the "Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act," and she believes that the appeals court will announce a correct verdict that benefits the plaintiffs, and return this case to the primary court for further hearing and assessment. The local court will eventually issue, and should issue a verdict in favor of the plaintiffs.
Note: Filártiga v. Peña-Irala,630 F.2d 876 (2d Cir. 1980)is a historical case in the American law and international law. The case opens the precedent of American law punishing non-American citizens for crimes of torture violated outside of the US. This case expands the American judicial jurisdiction to a global scope in torture crimes. This case was ruled by several US 2nd Circuit Court judges in 1980.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Sun, who immigrated to Canada from Shanghai, learned from a phone call to a practitioner in Shanghai two weeks ago that the plainclothes police from the Songjiang 610 Office came and knocked on his door. Through the peephole, he recognized that the person was from the 610 Office, so he did not open the door. The police stayed outside for two hours and then left.
"He told me that another practitioner who he is familiar with opened the door when the plainclothes police knocked. The police then arrested that practitioner and took him away," Ms. Sun said.
Ms. Sun told the reporter that the CCP arrests people on the excuse of hosting the Olympic Games. Shanghai is one of the places where the most arrests have taken place. They secretly arrested practitioners based on a blacklist. They took the arrested practitioners away from their homes without being noticed by the practitioners' neighbors.
Ms. Sun continued that the CCP is very heinous. In addition to protesting, we must expose all the sinister deeds it has committed. "Today I come to the Chinese Consulate to protest the CCP arresting my fellow practitioners. Not only were practitioners I know arrested, but many more practitioners across China were also arrested. The CCP is most evil."
According to the Falun Dafa Information Center, from January 1, 2008 until today, it is estimated that the CCP has arrested 1878 Falun Gong practitioners in the context of preparing for a "successful" Olympic Games. Nationwide, the arrests have involved 29 provinces, cities and autonomous regions across China, among which 156 cases were in Beijing.
Senior citizen Ms. Guo told the reporter in tears, "They arrest Falun Gong practitioners,and suppress appellants in the context of preparing for a 'successful' Olympic Games. This should not be allowed. To host the Olympic Games, they should follow the Olympic spirit. Such a persecution is unpardonable by heavenly principles, so I must come to protest."
Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang, who immigrated to Canada from Guangzhou, pointed out that Falun Gong practitioners have not broken any Chinese laws, so the CCP does not go through normal legal procedures in dealing with Falun Gong practitioners.
"They attempt to deceive foreign journalists. By arresting those who the CCP is persecuting, the foreign journalists won't be able to find them," Mr. Wang said.
He continued that "The CCP wants to present a false picture of peace and prosperity, but it can be seen that they are weak and fearful. The CCP has never changed its brutal nature, what keeps changing are their methods to deceive the world's people."
Spokesperson for Falun Gong Joel Chipkar pointed out in his speech that the CCP's continuing brutal persecution of Falun Gong directly violates stipulations in the Olympic Charter.
He said, "Today, we are here to demand an immediate release of all illegally detained Falun Gong practitioners. We also call on the international community to condemn the CCP's atrocities, and help stop the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong."

Spokesperson for Falun Gong in Vancouver, Sophia Bronwen hosted the rally. She condemned the CCP's using the Olympics as an excuse to wantonly arrest practitioners in Beijing, escalating the persecution in a blatant violation of the Olympic spirit.
The press conference exposed the troubling fact that the CCP is using the Olympics as an excuse to escalate the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in mainland China, particularly the practitioners in Beijing.
According to an announcement by the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG), when the CCP was granted the privilege of hosting the Olympic Games in 2008, the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners has only gotten worse. The new nationwide escalation of the persecution involved 29 provinces, cities and autonomous regions all over China. From the end of last year to March 11, 2008, the documented cases of illegal arrests of Falun Gong practitioners were 1,878.
Information obtained by the Falun Dafa Information Center shows that all arrests of Falun Gong practitioners in Beijing were made in a planned and systematic way. These arrests overrode the law, and different work units and departments coordinated together. The general scenario shows the district Party committee issuing the order of arrest, and agents from the grassroots offices - community centers, residential committees - as well as police stations and detention centers, monitoring, arresting and even ransacking practitioners' homes at any time and taking pictures of their cabinets, suitcases, and drawers. They arrest the practitioners once they find any Falun Gong materials in their home.
For example, practitioner Mr. Xue Fuchun from Shunyi District, Beijing was arrested on the afternoon of January 23, 2008. The police searched his home for five hours, confiscating Falun Dafa books, truth-clarification materials, and a personal computer. During the illegal arrest, Mr. Xue had his neck fractured and he passed out immediately. He was taken to the Shunyi District Hospital. Due to the severity of the injury, the officers were worried about being held responsible. Mr. Xue is currently on parole at home pending investigation.
On the evening of February 22, 2008, Mr. Qi Wei, a practitioner in Chaoyang District, Beijing, was taking a stroll with his wife near their home when several plainclothes police officers apprehended them and took them to the Anzhen Police Station in Chaoyang District. Half a dozen officers then broke into their home and confiscated a notebook computer and a removable hard drive. The officers viciously beat Mr. Qi Wei when he was taken into custody. The officers from the Anzhen Police Station took Mr. Qi's cell phone, handcuffed his hands behind his back, and threatened him. After protests from Mr. Qi's family, the police released his wife early on the morning of February 23. Mr. Qi was transferred to the Chaoyang District Domestic Security Division for interrogation.
Police ransacked the Jinkui Decoration Company at Heizhuanghu Village in the Chaoyang District, Beijing on January 24, 2008. All practitioners and non-practitioners alike who were working there were arrested. They included Chen Gang, Chen Jiaolong, Yu Yajing, Wen Jiaqi, Han Ligang, Zuo Yan, Liu Yan, Su Na, Dong Tingshui, Yu Yafang, Teacher Ms. Qi and Ms. Zhang. Some of those arrested were relatives and children of Falun Gong practitioners.
At the rally, several Vancouver practitioners made speeches. They condemned the CCP's nearly nine-year-long brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners who cultivate "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." They strongly protested the CCP's using the Olympics as an excuse to blatantly violate the citizens' human rights and escalate this persecution that has never stopped during the past eight years. These human rights abuses are making a mockery of the Olympic spirit, and are once again exposing the CCP's lies about improving human rights through hosting the Olympic Games.
Ms. Wang, who came to Canada from Shenyang City this February said that the persecution of Falun Gong has been taking place all the time in China. The neighborhood committees use the Olympics as an excuse to monitor practitioners. Four practitioners she is familiar with were arrested and sentenced to imprisonment. The police arrested the practitioners in the stillness of the night, and then sent them to forced labor camps.
Another older woman who just arrived in Vancouver from Beijing was in tears during the press conference. She said that two practitioners that she knows were arrested not long ago. One of them was a mother of two children. The two children were left without care after their mother's arrest. Thinking of the harsh situation of practitioners in mainland China, she was moved to tears.
Falun Gong practitioners in Vancouver called upon the international community to be bold enough to voice their concern and shoulder their responsibility to pressure the CCP authorities to stop the brutal persecution as soon as possible.
(Clearwisdom.net) "This is outrageous," declared Helmut Pauli, Managing Director of the Tonicale Concert Agency in Munich, Germany. Since he agreed to book the Chinese Spectacular at Munich's famed Prinzregenten theater, he says, scarcely a day has gone by without him getting a phone call from the Chinese consul in Munich or her staff. "They are threatening me and my company!"
Mr. Pauli is a famous activist in the German music community. He has founded several associations and organizes two or three concerts in Munich every week.
Chinese Consulate officials have called the music agency many times. Later, the Chinese vice consul Wang Yanmin and a co-worker went to the office of Tonicale on March 11. Wang asked Mr. Pauli to cancel the Chinese Spectacular, which will be held in April. The reason was that the show is sponsored by the Falun Dafa Association in Germany.
Among the messages the Chinese diplomatic mission delivered to Mr. Pauli are that should the show go on, Pauli might never set foot on Chinese soil again. Also, he was told that he would be blacklisted from doing business with Chinese partners, he says.
"I've seen the show in Frankfurt, and there is nothing offensive in it in my point of view," says a Tonicale employee who made arrangements for the show in Munich.
"It is to the show's credit that the President and the Vice-President of the European Parliament, as well as several German political representatives, sent congratulatory messages that are included in the program handout," she added.
The Chinese Spectacular by Divine Performing Arts has been held in the United States, Germany, the Netherlands, the U.K., France, Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, and Slovakia. The company is set to visit 60 cities around the world and hold more than 200 shows by the end of May. From March 14 to 17, it is to perform in Berlin and Hamburg, and in April, it will come back to Munich.
According to employees at Tonicale, Chinese vice consul Wang Yanmin threatened that if the show were to go on, the Chinese consulate will ask all the Chinese people living in Munich not to go to any activities held by Tonicale. The vice consul said that the show would hurt the relationship between China and Germany. In spite of this, the Tonicale Music Agency refused to cancel the show.
Chinese officials have attempted to interfere with Divine Performing Arts' productions at many of its stops, including most recently in the Czech Republic, where three shows were put on at the Prague Congress Centre. In Prague, the Chinese Embassy published a front-page advertisement in the local Chinese language press, warning people not to attend the show. Czech TV, the country's largest television station, reported in prime time that they too received a letter from the Chinese Embassy, this one warning them not to cover the performance.
According to a local TV station on February 14, the Chinese Student Association in Ruhr has asked Chinese students not to go to Divine Performing Arts' Chinese Spectacular in Duisburg.
Dr. Qian Yuejun, a legal scholar living in Germany, said that this is a typical tactic that the Chinese Communist Party uses to control overseas Chinese. Dr. Qian said, "In Europe, people can freely express their opinions. This is a free society, and their rights are protected by the law." He reminded the Chinese officials, "This is Europe, not Beijing. We are not under the Chinese Communist Party's jurisdiction."

(Clearwisdom.net) On February 22, 2008, Mr. Ma Guobiao and his elderly parents were
illegally arrested and the Shanghai 610 Office searched their home. Their home address is Room 501, No. 11, 2588 Lane, Tongchuan Road, Jiading District, Shanghai City. No further information about their whereabouts has been heard.
Ma Guobiao, his father Ma Dongquan, and his mother Jin Runfang are all Falun Dafa practitioners. Ma Guobiao is 36 years old. He was detained in Beijing for 15 days when he went to Beijing to appeal against the persecution in May 2000. Not long after he was released, Ma Guobiao was arrested and sent to Qingpu Law College where he was forced to undergo brainwashing sessions. During these two months of imprisonment, he was bombarded with lies and brainwashing materials. He kept practicing the exercises and studying the Fa teachings, for which he was threatened to be sent to a forced labor camp by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) agents. A few days after Mr. Ma left the brainwashing center, he was illegally detained again for 15 days.
In December 2002, when Ma Guobiao was at work, CCP agents from Changning District came to arrest him and detained him in Changning District Detention Center. Later on, personnel from the Changning District Police Station sentenced him to two years of forced labor. The two people responsible for his illegal sentence were Jin Weijun and Chen Kuang. In the labor camp, Dafa practitioners were imprisoned in a specific group and tortured. Ma Guobiao was shocked with electric batons on his private parts, and tortured with the "Shanghai Style Tiger Bench" (the practitioner is pushed against a wall and several people stretch his legs apart to 180 degrees, while several others beat him and hit him). He was also deprived of sleep.
While Ma Guobiao was being persecuted in the labor camp, his mother Jin Runfang was also persecuted in the women's forced labor camp, which was close by. Jin Runfang is in her 60's. She is a kind and caring person. She used to suffer from various diseases, but all of them disappeared after she started practicing Falun Dafa, and she regained her health. Because Ms. Jin benefited from Dafa, she often told others, "Falun Dafa is great." After the persecution began in 1999, she went to Beijing to appeal despite her age. However, she was illegally detained in Beijing for doing so. In the detention center in Beijing, she often witnessed the police torturing Dafa practitioners, and heard the screams of practitioners being tortured.
In 2001, Jin Runfang went to Beijing to appeal for justice again, but was taken back to Shanghai by Shanghai policemen in Beijing. She was then sentenced to two years of forced labor. In the forced labor camp, Ms. Jin underwent violent brainwashing sessions and was forced to watch defaming TV programs that were full of lies. However, she never submitted to saying that Dafa was wrong. All imprisoned Dafa practitioners had to go through "transformation" and "education" including: being forced to stand facing the wall all day long, being forced to sit still for extended periods, being forced to hand copy the camp's regulations, being forced to read slanderous propaganda materials, being deprived of sleep, being forced to work, and being hung up if they tried to protest.
The local 610 Office has threatened Ma Guobiao's father Ma Dongquan from time to time. Once when Ma Guobiao was illegally detained, the 610 Office staff lied to Ma Dongquan, saying, "As long as you promise you won't go to Beijing to appeal and stay home, we will let your son come home." They also extorted money from him. Ma Dongquan had to agree in order to get his son out. However, after receiving the money, the 610 Office still sentenced Ma Guobiao to two years of forced labor. Upon learning of their deception, the Ma family couldn't do anything and were distraught.
When Ma Guobiao and his family were watching TV on the evening of February 22, 2008, policemen in Shanghai arrested them and searched their home. Ma Guobiao and his father are currently detained at the Jiading District Police Station.

The police arrested them on October 12, 2007, and are still detaining them. Some were sentenced to forced labor, some have become mentally disordered from torture, while others are seriously ill. Please pay close attention to the devastating situation these practitioners are in right now.
Ms. Gao Chunlian became mentally traumatized from torture
On October 12, 2007, 42-year-old Ms. Gao Chunlian was arrested once again and is still being detained. Her life is already at risk since she became mentally disordered from torture. Her case goes back to 2001.
On April 18, 2001, Zhuozhou City National Security Bureau officials found Ms. Gao Chulian's home phone number in the home of another practitioner who was arrested. They took Ms. Gao to the Nanma Brainwashing Center, but she escaped the morning of April 21, 2001. On April 24, while in a practitioner's home in Beijing, officers from the Babaoshan Police Department in Beijing arrested Ms. Gao. They held her in the Shijingshan Detention Center in Beijing for 25 days. She was forced to sit on a stool the whole day. If her posture was not straight, the guards would beat her. Later on, she was transferred to Zhuozhou Detention Center. Ms. Gao started a protest hunger strike. Chief Wang ordered prison doctor Zhang Yugang to force-feed Ms. Gao. Zhang Yugang inserted a thick rubber tube into Ms. Gao's nose and down to her stomach. When the tube was removed, large amounts of blood followed. The detained criminals who were watching were so upset by this that they cried. Zhang Yugang declared he would insert a tube through one nostril in the morning and through the other one in the afternoon.
On July 31, 2001, Domestic Security Division police officers Yang Yugang and Zhang Weiqiang took Ms. Gao Chunlian to Balizhuang Forced Labor Camp in Baoding City. Zhuozhou City CCP Party Head Han Zhanshan announced her two-year forced labor sentence in a city-wide public assembly. In addition, they publicly paraded Ms. Gao through the streets as a warning.
While Ms. Gao was in the forced labor camp, the guards coerced criminals to physically abuse her and deprive her of sleep. All practitioners who were firm in their cultivation were made to do heavy labor, including cleaning lead boards, carrying heavy metal frames, and other such tasks. Ms. Gao's hands were worn out and covered with blood and blisters. While working in the high temperature environment, she and other practitioners inhaled large amounts of poisonous lead every day. They were not given any protective clothing or masks. Some practitioners fainted from fatigue, and some coughed up blood. In the winter they were forced to work from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. without lunch.
The labor camp officials didn't let family members visit those practitioners who would not yield to the officials' demands. Guard Zhang Guohong took away their pens and paper, preventing them from writing letters to their families.
On July 25, 2002, Ms. Gao refused to watch videos that slandered Falun Gong. Guard Liu Ziwei beat her brutally, pulled her into a small office, and handcuffed her onto a chair. Guard Bai Jie ordered someone to fix her legs to the chair. During the night, mosquitoes feasted on Ms. Gao. The guards kept watch on her the entire time and did not let her sleep. They tried to shake her firm belief in Dafa. Division head Li Xiuqin and political head Yan Qingfen talked to her from after midnight until 4:00 a.m. (The time to get up and work is 5:00 a.m.) Because she refused to write a guarantee statement, guards Zhang Guohong and Chen Yajuan took turns kicking her legs.
On August 12, 2002, guards Li Xiuqin and Zhang Guohong were on duty. Chen Yajuan shocked Ms. Gao with electric batons for refusing to give in. Liu Ziwei ordered several criminals, including Zhang Hong, Wu Xiaoli and Kan Chunjuan, to take turns beating her. The inmates grabbed Ms. Gao by the hair and knocked her head against a wall more than 40 times. They also slapped her face over 100 times and hit her in the mouth and jaw. They took turns kicking her legs. Liu Ziwei kicked her in the abdomen. Four of them beat her for more than three hours. Ms. Gao's hair was all over the floor, and her mouth and nose were bleeding. Her jaw was fractured and her face was swollen and disfigured. Her head was swollen. She had a searing headache and it hurt to lay her head on a pillow. Her left leg was injured and she could not walk. Even now, she cannot walk for a long time or perform heavy physical labor. Because of the beating, her left leg is thinner than the right one, and it often feels cold throughout the year.
On May 28, 2003, labor camp authorities contacted the Zhuozhou Police Department, and Qingliangshi Administration Office head Gao Jian sent Ms. Gao to the Nanma Brainwashing Center. The next day, the brainwashing center head, Gao Xuefei, instructed Zhao Yinjiu, Wang Chao, and Wang Lei to beat Ms. Gao. Wang Lei beat her with a rubber baton and force-fed her. Li Ming, the 610 Office head, ordered thugs to handcuff her to a bed every night for over a month.
Because of the torture, Ms. Gao kept vomiting and her face turned purple. She was emaciated and weighed only several dozen kilograms. Du Yonglu insisted on not releasing her until she was near death. Refusing to accept responsibility for their abuses, they then informed her family. Ms. Gao's family took her to Erkang Hospital for emergency care. While there, several officers from the Judicial Division of the Qingliangshi Administration Office tried to force Ms. Gao to cooperate with them. They included Chang Dechun, Li Chunhua, and Wang Xuesong. They also sent people to monitor her.
After leaving the hospital, Gao Jian, Chang Dechun and Li Chunhua still frequently harassed Ms. Gao at home.
She was arrested again on October 12, 2007. Ms. Gao is now imprisoned in Zhuozhou Detention Center. Her family members are forbidden to visit her. She has become mentally disordered as a result of torture. Her hands and feet are cold all the time, and she cannot stand still. She needs other people to assist her when she uses the restroom. She is barely recognizable and is close to death.
Mr. Dong Hanjie showed symptoms of renal failure after being tortured
Mr. Dong Hanjie is retired from the Transit Center in the Mining Bureau. He is now 52 years old. He began Falun Gong practice in October 1995. Six years later, on September 25, 2001, Zhuozhou 610 Office agents and those from the Law and Political Office of the Public Security Bureau and some vicious thugs from the Mining Bureau arrested Mr. Dong at work. They arrested him because they feared Mr. Dong would go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong during the national holiday. October 1 is the CCP's National Day. The evening of Mr. Dong's arrest, he was detained in Nanma Brainwashing Center in Zhuozhou City. The guards used electric batons, rubber clubs, and handcuffs to torture him, also hitting and slapping him. They forced him to do hard labor, but gave him precious little to eat. Ironically, a sign saying, "No Beating or Scolding" hung on the wall in the same office where Mr. Dong was tortured. Six months later, Mr. Dong was transferred to a detention center and held for 50 days. After that, he was sentenced to two years of forced labor for "disrupting public security," a "crime" fabricated by the CCP agents to deceive the world.
The guards at the Zhuozhou City Detention Center forced Mr. Dong to watch videos that slandered Falun Gong. He was handcuffed to a window frame for five days and forbidden to sleep. His legs swelled. The guards tied his legs and arms and then squeezed two beer bottles in between them before they tightened the ropes. After that, they shocked him with electric batons. A few minutes later they untied the ropes and ordered criminals to violently shake him. As a result, Mr. Dong's arms and legs were in extreme pain, and he could not move. This torture was called "Tied Up."
The guards also tied his hands to the two sides of a twin-sized head-board and his legs to the foot-board at the other end. He was tied up so that he could not move for 15 days. This torture was called the Death Bed. Mr. Dong was also handcuffed to heating pipes, had to sit on a small stool, and had to sit on a small folding stool (for a month).
Two years later, because he refused to give up his belief in Falun Gong, on March 24, 2003, his wife, Wang Huanqing, arrived at the labor camp to divorce him. Division One head Li Dayong and guard Wang Lei had tortured many practitioners. Along with several detained criminals, they all beat Mr. Dong. Wang Lei hit Mr. Dong's abdomen and ribs with his knees, breaking one of his ribs. Mr. Dong lost consciousness from the pain. After regaining consciousness he was tied to a chair. It happened on the first day when he started a hunger strike to announce that the brainwashing was null and void. He continued his hunger strike for 15 days. His forced labor term was over, but he was detained for more than one more month, in complete violation of the Chinese constitution.
Between 1999 and 2006, Mr. Dong was detained three times for an average of 15 days each time. On October 19, 2000, he was transferred to a mental hospital for 110 days. He was detained in a brainwashing center twice, including the six-month incarceration in the Nanmacun Brainwashing Center, as of September 2001. In 2002, he was detained for over 50 days, and in May 2002, he was detained in the forced labor camp to perform hard labor for 20 months.
Mr. Dong started to have medical symptoms such as heart failure, kidney failure, blurry eyesight, swollen legs, and scabies. Following his release he had nowhere to go since his wife had divorced him.
On October 12, 2007, Mr. Dong was once again arrested and has been detained in Zhuozhou City Detention Center until now. His family members are forbidden to visit him. He shows symptoms of high blood pressure and renal failure, and his legs are swollen. He has been on a hunger strike to resist the persecution. He has been force-fed numerous times.
Ms. Xing Junhua has become mentally unstable after being tortured
Ms. Xing Junhua is 48 years old and was an employee at the Commercial Bureau in Zhuozhou City. She was arrested on October 12, 2007, and imprisoned in Zhuozhou Detention Center. She has now become mentally unstable due to the tortures she has been subjected to. Ms. Xing is extremely weak and unable to walk. She needs people to help her go to the restroom. Her family members are still prevented from visiting her.
Mr. Ren Baokun is sentenced to one and a half years of forced labor
Ren Baokun is 40 years old. Zhuozhou City Public Security Bureau agents detained Mr. Ren on October 12, 2007, saying he had committed the crime of "using an illegal practice to violate the law." On October 31, 2007, Ren was sentenced to one and a half years of forced labor and is now imprisoned in Baoding Forced Labor Camp. His family members considered the sentence unacceptable. They have hired a lawyer who values righteousness to appeal for Mr. Ren.
Mr. Shen Aiqiang will be illegally sentenced
Mr. Shen Aiqiang was arrested last year in Zhuozhou. He lives in Zunyi City in Guizhou Province and is now detained in Guizhou. Chinese Communist Party agents are planning to sentence him.
Mr. Shen is 31 years old. He is originally from the South Township, Wuchuan County, Zunyi City, Guizhou Province. (Wuchuan County is the Miao Autonomous County in Sichuan Province for the Gelos.) In 1999, only six months before graduating from Beijing Medical University, Mr. Shen was expelled from school because he refused to give up his belief in Falun Gong. In 2000, Mr. Shen was sentenced to one year of forced labor. In June 2001, the CCP thugs often went to Mr. Shen's residence to harass him. They considered him the "most wanted." Because of that, Mr. Shen decided to leave home to avoid more illegal detention.
At around 8:00 a.m. on November 26, 2007, when Mr. Shen and his brother were about to take their father to the hospital, he was arrested in Zhuozhou City. He was eventually transferred to Guizhou Province and put in No. 2 Detention Center in Guiyang City.
Guizhou Public Security Department agents detained Mr. Shen for the crime of "using an illegal practice to violate the law." They want to sentence him from three to seven years.

Ms. Xu Hui, 44, lived in the Songzao Mine Dormitory in Jijiang County. On the morning of July 5, 1999, while doing the Falun Gong exercises in the school field, she and a few other practitioners were picked up and taken to Songzao Police Station by Chief Tu Zhenming. They were each fined two hundred yuan.
On February 21, 2000, Ms. Xu and a few other practitioners went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. They lived in the Songzao Office in Chongqing City, and, when they left, they went by way of the city. Police from Chuqi Police Station arrested them and put them in the Jijang County Jail after holding them overnight. Later Ms. Xu was sent to Chongqing City Women's Forced Labor Camp in Maojiashan for a year. The other three practitioners were fined two hundred yuan each and held in jail for 30 days.
In 2001, Ms. Xu finished her forced labor sentence and went home. The manager of the Security Department of Songzao Mine, Gong Xe, told her to write a letter pledging to not practice Falun Gong, and threatened that if she did not comply, they would either fire her husband from his job or tell him to divorce her.
On March 8, 2004, she went to Anwen to get medicine for her husband, who was suffering from liver calcification. Policeman Yang Mingyu from the Anwen Police Station of Jijiang County Police Department arrested her and took her to the station. Later she was sent to Jijiang County Jail and held there for 30 days. Finally, the children of another practitioner arrested at the same time gave 30,000 yuan to the jail, which got her released.
In November 2006, Ms. Xu was again arrested from her mother's home in Bishan County and taken to Songzao Mine by Yang Mingyu and Luo Mingyang, the section heads of the Songzao Mine Community.
(Clearwisdom.net) Before and after the Chinese New Year in 2008, police from Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province worked with local thugs to harass and persecute Falun Gong practitioners. On March 4, police from the Daqing City Police Department and the Wolitun Branch arrested several practitioners.
The following practitioners are verified to have been placed under arrest.
1. Ms. Jiang Fengqin, 56, is a retired employee of the Daqing Petrochemical General Factory. At about 9:00 p.m. on March 4, 2008, Daqing police took Ms. Jiang into custody when she was taking care of her grandson at home. Her home was also searched. Truth-clarifying materials, CDs and Dafa books were packed into four or five big plastic bags and taken away. A copier and about 10,000 yuan in cash were also taken away.
Currently, Jiang Fengqin is being detained in the Daqing City First Detention Center, which is also called the Daqing Detention Center.
2. Mr. Sun Ruilin, 67, is a retired officer from the Anda City Railroad. At around 3:00 p.m. on March 4, 2008, the police took him away from his apartment. They also took away his personal property in two or three bags. About a dozen policemen drove three police vehicles and took away many things. Mr. Sun shouted, "Falun Dafa is good!" Afterwards, he was pushed into one of the vehicles.
Sun Ruilin is being detained in the Daqing City Fourth Detention Center, otherwise known as Longfeng Detention Center. The guards in the detention center questioned Sun Ruilin repeatedly, and each time he responded with, "Falun Dafa is good!" He continued to be firm when a policeman struck him in the face.
3. Ms. Zhao Yumei, 40, was an employee of the Daqing Petrochemical General Factory who was forced into early retirement. On March 4, 2008, she was arrested by police from the Wolitun Branch of the Daqing City Police Department. She is being detained in the Daqing City First Detention Center.
4. Mr. He Biao, 40, was forced to retire early from the Daqing Petrochemical General Factory. His wife Han Yunhua works at the same factory. On March 4, they were arrested by Daqing police. When Mr. He's older sister went to visit him from Zhaodong on March 1, 2008, she was also arrested. They are being detained in the Daqing City Fourth Detention Center.
5. Ms. Li Yanjiao was forced to retire early from the Daqing Ethylene Computation Center. On March 4, she was arrested by police from the Wolitun Branch of the Daqing City Police Department and members of the Wolitun Community Security Team, including Cai Hua, Li Yan, Zhang Zhongxiao and Liu Xiangdong.
Ms. Li's home was searched, and Dafa books and other personal property were taken away. She is being detained in the Daqing City Fourth Detention Center.

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Wang Xiangling is a Falun Gong practitioner from the Songshan District, Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia. In March 2000, local police officer Liu went to Ms. Wang's home and told her to sign a guarantee statement that she would not practice Falun Gong. Ms. Wang refused. As a result she was taken to a local police station in the Songshan District. She was forced to hand in almost 300 yuan for food and lodging. After being detained for 15 days, she was sent to another police station in the Songshan District and was forced to sign a "statement" that abused and slandered Dafa and Master. She also paid 5,000 yuan as "earnest money".
When she returned to her company, the chief of the security department, surnamed Ding, tried to force Ms. Wang to sign a guarantee that she would not practice Falun Gong, threatening to fire her if she didn't. Ms. Wang was forced to resign. With help from fellow practitioners, Ms. Wang got a job in a store run by a fellow practitioner, but the police pressured the fellow practitioner to not hire Ms. Wang. She ended up working for herself.
Xicheng Local Police Station in the Hongshan District and people from the residential district still went to her home and the place she did business to harass her repeatedly.
In December 2000, Ms. Wang went to Beijing to appeal for an end to the persecution. Then Hongshan District Police Sub-bureau officers went to her home to arrest her. She was compelled to become homeless in order to avoid being arrested from home. The authorities issued a warrant for her arrest. They went to her home, her daughter's school, and her relatives to harass them many times. Her daughter suffered both physically and mentally. They also conspired with the secretary from her husband's company to pressure him to turn in his wife. Under such formidable pressure, her husband was compelled to divorce Ms. Wang.

1. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Mr. Zhang Guozhi Arrested
On February 17, 2008, Mr. Zhang Guozhi was reported to the authorities while he was clarifying the truth about Falun Gong on the train from Changchun City to Jiutai City. When the train reached Longjiabao Police Station, it was stopped by a Longjiabao police vehicle, and Mr. Zhang was arrested. He is currently detained in Jiutai City's Majiagangzi Detention Center.
2. [Jilin Province] Ms. Liu Shuhua's Prison Term Extended
In early 2005, Ms. Liu Shuhua from the Yanshan region of Jilin Province was arrested and sentenced to three years of imprisonment. She has been detained in Shijiazhuang Women's Prison. Her prison term has expired, but she is still being detained.

Around 2:00 p.m. on February 21, 2008, Ms. Tang Jia from Zhonglin Street in Sa'ertu District, Daqing City, was followed while she was clarifying the truth. The police from the Sa'ertu District Police Branch went to her home, attempting to arrest her.
4. [Beijing] Ms. Wang Yuhong Arrested
On February 19, 2008, Ms. Wang Yuhong was clarifying the truth and was reported to the authorities. She is currently detained in the Qinghe Town Detention Center, Changping District, Beijing.

In 2005, Mr. Chu Qinghua, 18 years old, was tortured in the Shandong Province Second Forced Labor Camp, causing him not to be able to walk. His current status is unknown.
Mr. Wu Fengyi, in his 20s, was tortured in the Shandong Province Second Forced Labor Camp, causing him to suffocate. He was sent to the hospital for emergency treatment and regained consciousness after about six days. Then he was put in the "strict disciplinary team" again, where he contracted pulmonary tuberculosis. In 2007, Mr. Wu was released on bail for medical treatment. His current status is unknown.
8. [Tai'an City, Shandong Province] Ms. Liu Hong Arrested
Around 2:00 p.m. on February 18, 2008, several policemen from the Caiyuan Police Station of Tai'an City broke into Ms. Liu Hong's home. They knocked down the door and confiscated Falun Gong books, truth-clarification materials, personal computers, printers, and several thousand yuan in cash. They arrested Ms. Liu at the same time. Her whereabouts are unknown.
9. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] Mr. Liu Xun Arrested
On February 19, 2008, Mr. Liu Xun from the Zhangdian District in Zibo City went to Fengshui Town in the Zhangdian District to try to persuade people to quit the CCP. He was arrested by plainclothes policemen and taken to the 610 Office of Zibo City.
10. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Shaohua Tortured in the Shandong Province Second Forced Labor Camp
Ms. Wang Shaohua from Weifang City was sentenced to forced labor over a year ago. During her term in the labor camp, she has not been cooperating with the unreasonable demands of the authorities and thus has been tortured by the guards. The guards handcuffed her and shocked her with electric batons. Ms. Wang was forced to perform heavy manual labor, after which she was forced to stand facing the wall for long periods of time, causing both physical and mental injury.
11. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Ms. Sun Liping and Others Arrested
On February 9, 2008, Ms. Sun Liping, 45 years old, from the Zhanshan area of Qingdao City was arrested at her home by policemen from the Ningxia Street Police Station.
On the evening of January 26, 2008, Ms. Liu Lianjun was arrested while visiting Guo Zhiqiang.
On February 4, 2008, Ms. Xu Zhifeng and another female practitioner were arrested.
Mr. Zhuang Ming and Ms. Liu Qinglian from the Xishan area of Li Village were arrested months ago. They are still detained at the Dashan Detention Center.

On February 14, 2008, Mr. Liu Xun, a retired senior engineer in his 60s with the Xinhua Pharmaceutical Factory of Zibo City, was arrested by the local police. His whereabouts are unknown.
13. [Zibo Shandong Prvoince] Several Practitioners Tortured
On February 4, 2008, Mr. Zhai Mochen, Mr. Mo Chaojian, Ms. Xu Guilan, and several other practitioners were arrested and taken to the Fujia Town Detention Center of Zibo City, where they were tortured. Among other abuses, they were stripped and drenched with freezing water in the winter. They were each fined from 10,000 yuan to 15,000 yuan.

14. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yin Xinxiao and Ms. Lu Xueqing's Families Hired Attorneys to Appeal
On February 20, 2008, attorneys hired by Ms. Yin Xinxiao and Ms. Lu Xueqing's families visited he Liaoyuan Street Police Station, the Yan'an Street Police Station, the Qingdao City Police Department, and the Shibei District Police Branch to bring up requests on behalf of their clients, including (1) correction of the illegal detention because of the lack of warrant and the lack of family notification for the extended detention, (2) guarantee of the victims' lives and health, (3) rights to visitation, (4) release of the detainees without extension. The authorities refused to answer directly to these requests. Instead, they threatened the attorneys through the influence of the Jinan City's Politics and Law Committee and the Jinan City's Law Enforcement Bureau and forced them to terminate their legal services to the families.
15. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] The Persecution of Ms. Zhu Lanying
Ms. Zhu Lanying, around 40 years old, was sentenced to three years of imprisonment for going to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong. She has been detained in Mancheng Prison, Hebei Province, where she has also been tortured.
Ms. Zhu's mother and elder brother, also practitioners, were both tortured to death. She was fined 100,000 yuan by the authorities of Hancun Township. In 2008, each village resident should have received compensation of 35,000 yuan after the government "purchased" their farmland. However, Ms. Zhu's family was denied compensation. When she hired a lawyer to sue the government, the authorities refused to establish the case.
On February 19, 2008, Ms. Zhu was arrested by the Xiantai Township Police Station of the Mancheng County, Baoding City. On February 21, she was taken to the Baoding City 610 Office.
Another practitioner, Ms. Kong Lanzhi, was arrested.

On January 21, 2008, Ms. Cui Yinxia, a teacher at the Ma Village Middle School, Renqiu City, was reported by Qian Haimin and others from Chenbian Village and was then arrested while posting truth-clarification materials. She was taken to the Renqiu City Detention Center by Xinzhongyi police.

On September 23, 2007, Mr. Xie Peizeng, Mr. Zheng Guiyou, and Ms. Wu Zhujun were arrested by local police on the charge of distributing Falun Gong materials. Around 3 o'clock on the afternoon of February 20, 2008, Mr. Bai Shaohua and Mr. Yang Hui were driving from the Beijing inner city to the Huarou District of suburban Beijing and were arrested by Beijing police at a checkpoint on the highway. On February 21, Mr. Yang's family went to the local police station and found out that he had been taken to the Huirou District Detention Center. It is believed that Mr. Bai Shaohua is also detained there.

29. [Liaoning Province] Imprisoned Practitioners Secretly Transferred
In 2007, the Liaoning Province authorities started transferring imprisoned practitioners to cover up the crimes the authorities have committed in the torture of these practitioners and also to create an extra barrier for visiting families.
On December 19, 2007, Huazi Prison officials transferred 21 practitioners elsewhere. Among them, Mr. Liu Hongbo, Mr. Chang Wanliang, Mr. Liu Huaxin, Mr. Hua Shuangyu, and Mr. Qu Lianxi were transferred to Panjin Prison. The remaining practitioners' whereabouts are unknown.
On December 20, 2007, Dabei Second Prison transferred Mr. Ma Ronghua and ten other practitioners. Mr. Ma was sent to Panjin Prison, and the others' whereabouts are unknown. Some practitioners were videotaped during the transfer process, including Ms. Gao Zhengqin, Mr. Li Quanchen, Mr. Ha Enli, Mr. Jiang Bo, Mr. Wang Tao, Mr. Wang Hongfeng, Mr. Bai Rongchun, Mr. Sun Yongsheng, Mr. Xue Jun, Mr. Wang, and two other practitioners whose names are unknown. The prison authorities spread rumors that these practitioners were to be released instead of transferred. After the transfer, practitioners were strip-searched. The second day, the prison authorities deceived the practitioners into fingerprinting on falsified release papers. The videotape and falsified documents are just tricks the authorities are using to deceive the general public.

30. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Mr. Gao Weixi, Ms. Wang Fuxia, Mr. Shi Guoliang, and Ms. Yang Defang Tried and Sentenced
On May 9, 2007, the Changchun City Intermediate Court tried Mr. Gao Weixi, Ms. Wang Fuxia, Mr. Shi Guoliang, and Ms. Yang Defang, who were arrested by the Nanguan District Police Branch and the Shuguang Street Police Station.
The final sentence for Mr. Lu Xianfeng from Yushu City was also eventually determined by the Changchun City Intermediate Court. The Yushu City Court initially sentenced him to three years. The Changchun City Intermediate Court added another year to the sentence.

(Clearwisdom.net) I was fortunate enough to start practicing Falun Dafa in March 1996. Incredible things happened only a few moments after I picked up the book Zhuan Falun for the first time. A shadow appeared in the corner of my right eye. With a closer look, I saw that it was a big Chinese character, "Forbearance." It appeared whenever I opened my eyes. How amazing! Benevolent Teacher knew that I was short-tempered and hinted to me to forbear more. I kept this in mind and was determined to work hard on forbearance and cultivating my xinxing. When studying Teacher's article "True Cultivation," I could not keep from crying. The Fa and Teacher's words were deeply rooted in my heart, and this laid a solid foundation for me to validate Dafa in the future.
I've followed the path of cultivation for more than a decade under Master's protection, while being harmonized with Dafa. Four generations of my family have done the exercises in the park including my mother (88 years old), my grandson (3 years old), my son and daughter-in-law. My entire family was immersed in the illuminating light of the Buddha Fa. We studied the Fa every day and cultivated our xinxing, and we have benefited tremendously from it.
When the Chinese Communist regime started the persecution of Dafa and its practitioners in 1999, I chose to follow the path of validating Dafa and did not allow them to take away a single piece of paper that is related to Dafa. I reminded myself constantly that since I chose to follow Master to help rectify the Fa, no hardship would set me back. I would do what Master instructs us to do and follow the cultivation path arranged by him. No one can dissuade me from cultivating firmly in Dafa and following Master.
1. Master Helps Me to Eliminate the Attachment of Fear
The attachment to fear surfaced when I went out to distribute truth-clarifying materials. One evening I went to a building to distribute materials. It was dark and after I reached the fifth floor, a door suddenly opened and a man came out. I continued to the sixth floor and when I finished, I noticed the man was still standing beside the door. He followed me and asked, "Where are you from? What are you doing here?" I replied that I was looking for someone. He asked for the person that I was looking for, and I told him a random name. I was a little afraid at that time because I still had some materials with me. When we got to the second floor, remembering Master, I asked for his help. Instantly that person softened up and said, "I know you are handing out pamphlets" and then he left.
Another time when I was distributing truth-clarifying materials, I reached the sixth floor of a building and saw a box-like object in the dim light. Two dogs suddenly barked from inside the box. I was startled and started down the stairs at once. Someone came out of the apartment in the floor above but I was already down below. I spoke to Master's photo, "How could I be so cowardly? My righteous thought is not strong enough, Master, please give me more courage." No matter what the interference is, we should carry out the things that need to be done. When a problem arises, if we can think of Master then "after passing the shady willow trees, there will be bright flowers and another village ahead!" (Zhuan Falun)
While distributing truth-clarifying materials, I have been followed by Chinese Communist Party agents, but managed to escape from their pursuit. However, there were times when fellow practitioners who went with me were arrested. Master said,
"To tell you the truth, the entire cultivation process for a practitioner is one of constantly giving up human attachments."("Zhuan Falun")
After studying the Fa and reciting the poem "What's To Fear?" in Hong Yin Vol. II , I told myself that when I send forth righteous thoughts I am a god that is as tall as the heavens and incomparably noble and I will not allow any evil beings to interfere with me. If they do interfere, they will enter the gate of no life and their sins would be so great that no redemption would be granted. Master once again eliminated the things that made up my attachment to fear. All is done by Master.
2. Removing Human Notions to Do the Three Things Well
At 9:00 p.m. on September 9, 2007, I saw an Udumbara flower that had bloomed for nine days. It grew on the iron cover of a lamp. Gradually these flowers started to bloom in many other places as well. As a practitioner during the Fa-rectification period, I feel that my responsibilities are huge. It has been a journey full of hardship, but practitioners have become more mature and more determined along the way.
When I clarified the truth and suggested to people that they quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), sometimes human attachments would surface. I have been to the markets in rural areas and clarified the truth on the bus, in shopping centers and supermarkets, at weddings and at gatherings of all sizes. I talk to anyone I meet. Master has given me a heart of benevolence and I use it to save sentient beings. Things usually go smoothly if I have sent righteous thoughts and have studied the Fa well enough beforehand. I also had to eliminate human attachments. If our heart is solely focused on the good of others, we will be able to save them. There are those who do not yet understand, but we should persist in what we are doing. There are many vendors in the markets, and most of them claimed that they were not on the side of the Chinese Communist Party and would follow their own path. Some people even said loudly, "Falun Dafa is good!"
I am very happy when I talk to a person and he quits the Communist Party. Some people are strongly influenced by the Party and said that the Party gave them money and a livelihood. I tell them that the fortune of a person is the result of many previous lifetimes. The party members do not give you money from their own pockets, but rather from the people. I answer their questions with a kind heart and keep eliminating any evil factors and interference. I use the Fa principles of the cosmos to rectify their mindset. They often became speechless after hearing my words.
During the process of validating the Fa, I reminded myself not to forget my own cultivation. I tried my best to rectify myself in the Fa and leave no worries for Master. Since 2002, we have kept up group study in my area. Sometimes conflicts arise among practitioners to improve our xinxing level. One time there came a person who did not read well and claimed to be a veteran practitioner. In the past, as a group we could read two chapters of Zhuan Falun in half a day but now with her, we could barely finish one chapter. I became impatient and my attachment rose. I was ready to jump when she could not make out a sentence. I also questioned what kind of veteran practitioner she was when she could not even read through Zhuan Falun. Others also said that she only studied the Fa intermittently.
At some point I thought that I would just stay home to do my own studying. Why invite the bad feelings? During the days that I studied at home, Master gave me hints in my dream that there was a layer of substance on my human side that still needed to be eliminated. I started to search inside myself. To a cultivator, anything that happens serves as a chance for improvement. After I listened to Master's "Fa-Teaching Given to the Australian Practitioners" seven times, I remembered a line from Master, "When you shy away from the tribulation, it means that you have not passed it." Master teaches us to cultivate ourselves to be a selfless, righteous and noble being that lives for others. He also talked about improving as a whole and elevating as a group. During the process of cultivation, any incident is considered to be good, whether you think it is good or bad. If there is a clump of something in your heart that makes you suffer, then it is a form of interference. It must have been that there were attachments that needed to be discarded. I did not use my kindness to help others, and there were the human attachments to competition, showing-off and impatience. At the root lay the lack of forbearance.
While my spirit was cleansed by the magnificent Fa principles, I had the urge to cry. I had not lived up to Master's protection and hints. I rejoined the group Fa study and shared my thoughts with fellow practitioners. We agreed to help each other more and elevate as a whole. When I listened to my fellow practitioner reading the book again, I no longer felt annoyed. An attachment was melted away and my heart was lightened. In this corrupted world, we can only try to purify and improve ourselves by searching inward with the Fa principles.
We are determined to walk well the path arranged by Master and negate all forms of interference and arrangements by the old forces, and assist Master with Fa-rectification. We will accomplish this historic mission, do the three things well and leave Master no cause for worry.

1. Great Hand of Compassion and Power
I began to practice Falun Dafa in January 1997. Before that, my physical condition had been very bad. I had suffered from tracheitis since childhood and always caught colds. As I grew up, I suffered from many ailments such as chronic gastritis, cholecystitus, mastitis, oral cavity ulcer--one thing after another. I took various types of medicine all year round. As soon as I heard that a certain medicine was effective, I would quickly go buy it. Even though I spent the money and took the medicine, the physical problems continued. Sometimes I felt really bitter and tired. I felt as if life was meaningless.
My mother introduced Falun Gong to me. She said that she had benefited a lot from the practice. She told me that it was not a normal qigong, but rather a great cultivation way of the Buddha School, and that Dafa's Teacher came to save people. Since childhood, due to the influence of my grandmother, I believed in the existence of gods and Buddha, so I agreed to practice it. In the beginning, I listened to Master's lectures on tape with other people and learned the five sets of exercises. I began to practice at home. Shortly after practicing Falun Gong, I began to undergo significant physical and xinxing changes. First, Teacher adjusted my body, and all the diseases disappeared. I was not able to eat fruit before, but by summer, I could eat any fruit I wanted. I experienced again what it was like to be without illness.
While I was experiencing the beauty of Dafa and practicing diligently, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in 1999. My home was a practice site, so a village cadre came to me and said we could no longer practice. My heart was heavy and I said to the village cadre, "We Falun Gong practitioners are good people, why not let us practice?" The cadre said that it was ordered from the top, and that the Falun Gong practice was banned throughout the country. Dafa was slandered in newspapers and TV, and no other viewpoint was allowed. I said to my family in tears, "That which is true cannot be hidden. Sooner or later this will get redressed." Under pressure from the authorities, my family members watched me and prevented me from contacting fellow practitioners. Cadres at the township and village level often harassed me at home, wanting me to write a guarantee statement and say bad things about Teacher. Once, out of fear of being taken away and not understanding the consequences, I said something bad against Dafa. I did what a practitioner should not do and left an indelible stain in my cultivation; it was shameful. I realized that I was wrong and felt so regretful. I became very passive and hardly studied the Fa after that. The bitterness in my heart was indescribable, and I felt so ashamed and filthy.
As I was suffering painfully, I had a vivid dream. In the dream, there was a limitless, vast ocean. A baby stuck out a hand as it was sinking, and suddenly a huge hand reached down from the sky and grabbed hold of that tiny hand. This picture was fixed in my brain, as I had never had such a vivid dream. After waking, this scene remained clear in my mind, and even now it is so vivid.
I cried, and I knew that Teacher had not given up on me, the practitioner who did not make every effort to succeed. I was depressed and felt trapped, as if I was sinking. Our merciful and great Teacher reached out with his hand to me and allowed me to regain a new life after nearly being destroyed. I began to study the Fa and practice the exercises again. I made contact with fellow practitioners. I studied Teacher's new articles and understood how we should do the three things well, and I walked the Fa-rectification path of clarifying the facts, validating Dafa and saving sentient beings.
2. Distributing Truth-clarification Material to Save People
In the beginning, I had no truth-clarification materials, so I bought small booklets for recording phone numbers. I wrote "Falun Dafa is good. Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance is good. Falun Dafa is the righteous Fa." I put the notes inside of phone booths, at stalls or counters in shops. Sometimes I used carbon paper to make four sets of each writing. I handed them out at night. Later, practitioners sent me truth-clarification materials. I learned that the process of distributing them is also a process of cultivation. Sometimes my mindset was not steady and I was afraid. Teacher then gave me hints and encouraged me.
Once, a practitioner and I went to a village at night to distribute truth-clarification material, and there were many dogs in the village. We had just arrived at the front of a home when the dog inside began to bark madly. I was so nervous that I lost my righteous thoughts and felt very frightened as I left the materials. I put the papers inside the fence of one home, and quickly ran away. I could not help but look back; I turned back and saw that the material I had just left flashed with a light blue light. I knew merciful Teacher was encouraging me, so I calmed down. "What do I have to fear?" I said to myself. We are saving people and doing the most righteous thing, so the evil should be frightened. As long as we set our minds correctly, we won't be in any danger. Teacher protects us all the time, and it is Teacher who truly saves people.
3. The CCP's Flag Can't Rise
We live in family dormitory at a school and can see some events at the school. Once I watch a flag raising ceremony at the school. I thought, "Do not let this bloody flag rise up and poison people." I silently sent forth righteous thoughts to disintegrate hidden elements of the CCP in the school. I saw the rising flag fall down, yet the students tried to raise it again. Then as they pulled the flag up halfway, the rope suddenly broke, and it fell down again. Afterwards I learned there had been young practitioners among the students, and they too had sent forth righteous thoughts. For a very long time the flag was not raised as a result of our righteous thoughts. I hope that fellow practitioners will not neglect sending forth righteous thoughts.
4. Using Freegate
Sometimes our truth-clarification materials got delayed for long periods of time before reaching us. I thought that it would be great if I could make them myself. Probably because of this thought, I obtained two truth-clarification DVDs of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party in what seemed to be a coincidence. Later, when I opened the first DVD on my computer, it not only contained truth-clarification materials, but also a "small pigeon" program (Freegate software that allows people in China to access government-banned websites). Back then, I did not even know what it was. I had never used the Internet before and did not understand the software. I only knew a bit of the simplest form of typesetting.
I tried to open that "small pigeon" icon, and I was shocked as the screens appeared in front of me. I then realized it was the unblocking Internet software "Free Gate 6.0". I found the Minghui/Clearwisdom website and opened it. I saw Teacher's picture of him quietly watching the world from a mountain. I was so excited that I could not calm down for a long time. I was amazed--I had actually gone to the Minghui website! I had thought that only people with great technical skills could do that. Afterwards I understood that this had been our Teacher's arrangement. I thought to myself, "What can I do with this capability?"
5. Material Production Sites Everywhere
Teacher requires us to have truth-clarification materials production sites everywhere. So I, too, set up a small material production site. I improved while preparing the materials. Once, I asked a practitioner to reinstall the program for me, but the program stopped halfway. The practitioner tried many times, but it did not work. I was quite nervous, so I sat down to send forth righteous thoughts. As if I faced a huge enemy, I sent forth righteous thoughts repeatedly, but it still didn't work. The percent complete indicator moved on the screen, but once it reached a certain point, it stopped again.
I saw the practitioner calmly look at the computer without a trace of anxiety, and I calmed down too. I thought to myself, "My computer is a Fa-implement. It shall be the best, and this program shall be installed. There shall not be any interference at all." Then I heard the practitioner say, "Look, it's working now." I was so happy and told the practitioner my thoughts. She said, "Yeah, I was thinking that this disk still has life. If it can't be used, then it will not serve its purpose, and it would be such a pity." I was moved by this practitioner's compassion. I found a gap between that practitioner and myself, and understood how I should improve. This practitioner also told me, "I left in a rush the other day and forgot to tell you, the other disk for installing the program was indeed broken, but you saw it install successfully. Teacher is protecting us and helping us!"
Another time, when I was printing the "Minghui Weekly", I finished printing the first side with no problems, but when I started printing the other side, it stopped after two pages. After checking, I found that I had put the paper in with the wrong side up. Fortunately the paper jammed, or else all the paper would have been wasted. I felt warm in my heart. This appeared to be accidental, but again, I knew that I had witnessed Dafa's supernatural ability and Teacher's watching over us.
In June 2007, the CCP began a mad effort to block the Internet. When my computer remained unaffected and did not have problems, I was secretly self-satisfied. Suddenly one day, I could not get on the Internet. I did not get alarmed, thinking that I could ask other practitioners to download the information and send it to me without impacting the production of the materials. But as I tried unsuccessfully to find someone to fix the Internet connection, I realized the seriousness of the problem. Teacher told us to look inwards whenever there is a problem, so surely there were things for me to improve. I calmed down and looked inside myself, deeply digging into my thoughts. I found that I still had so many human notions to be abandoned! My attachment of doing things was strong. I treated making materials as a task and felt relieved after finishing it. I did not have the urgency and compassion for saving people. I had been self-satisfied, thinking that I was doing all right. I had been producing the materials without delay, but was I really cultivating? Was I saving people? I saw my shortcomings and asked Teacher to strengthen me, eliminate the evil interference, help me concentrate on Fa study and correct the negative elements within me. Only then did my Internet connection start working again.
I urge practitioners who are not using Internet to go to the Minghui website to realize that it is a cultivation process. I feel that Teacher is mercifully protecting us all the time.
(Clearwisdom.net) Before practicing Falun Gong, I was strongly attached to many different kinds of exciting things as many young people are. I was obsessed with movies, popular songs, video games and other kinds of entertainment. After I began cultivating, I still allowed myself to be interfered with by these attachments for a while, hence I was unable to cultivate diligently. I was pretty much like a non-practitioner. Some other young practitioners that I know are also being interfered with by attachments similar to the ones that I had before. Some are very attached, and therefore are not diligent at all. I am hereby sharing my experience regarding this matter, so that we can all advance together.
At present, the moral standards of society have deteriorated in many areas, including the arts, literary work, (such as those represented on TV and the movies) and other kinds of entertainment. The demonic nature in society has reached an extreme level, which is way beyond what a human society should have. For many people, their life's goal seems to be to pursue excitement or thrills, and endless enjoyment, both mental and physical. Living in today's society, which is full of temptations, young practitioners, without exception, have become unconsciously ever more tainted by many acquired notions. Therefore, it is very important for us to eliminate our pursuit of fun, excitement, physical enjoyment, desires, and distorted and even demonic thoughts. To achieve that, I believe, we need to do the following:
1. Search inside ourselves. It is not enough to merely realize that watching TV, and other kinds of entertainment, and playing video games and so on, are attachments that should be eliminated. Master said,
"If that attachment is relinquished, that material itself does not have any effect. What really interferes with a person is the attachment." (Lecture Seven, Zhuan Falun, 2000 translation version)
Upon reading this, I understood that I should find out the real reason behind my attachments. Why was I attached to these things? What other kinds of human desires and pursuits did I have? Was I attached to sentiment between a man and a woman? Was I attached to the pursuit for fame and financial benefits, the competitive mentality, excitement, or even violence and lust? After finding all of my attachments, and realizing their danger and the damage that they could bring me from the perspective of the Fa, I started firmly working on eliminating all of them.
2. Through studying the Fa, I learned that the five-thousand-year-old, semi-divine Chinese culture is the genuine human culture. Before the CCP, people in all walks of life in Chinese society understood the implications of morality and acknowledged divine beings. The true essence of Chinese culture is to guide people to walk on the righteous path so as to return to the divine world at the end. "The essence of culture is its inner moral meaning, while the superficial forms have only entertainment value. The CCP restored the superficial elements of culture, which entertain, to cover up its purpose of destroying morality." ("Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party" published by the Epoch Times newspaper - Part 6, "On How the Chinese Communist Party Destroyed Traditional Culture")
My understanding is that the spiritual enjoyments of human beings now, whether they be art works or other forms of entertainment, have gone astray from "including the Dao and morality in writings." The current forms of entertainment only focus on pumping up thrills or excitement that provoke the basest human desires to the extreme. As a result of this, people eventually give up on themselves. After being instilled with the CCP's culture, human being's demonic nature and the resulting deviation have become even more intensified. I also learned that while cultivating in ordinary human society, we should transcend this humanness while maximally conforming to human society. However, while constantly understanding the higher level Fa, we should also be clear on our understanding of the lower level Fa and the basic principles of being human. We should help rectify the connotation and surface forms of human art. Watching the programs of the Divine Performing Arts, reading articles on Minghui website that expound on genuine Chinese culture, and appreciating the paintings and sculptures created by Falun Gong practitioners can help us rectify human standards, and eliminate deviated thoughts.
3. Several practitioners who have their celestial eyes opened told us that they had seen practitioners being interfered with by demonic forces when these practitioners' thoughts were not righteous, but were instead attached to watching those warped performances. I understand that whenever we accept it, and ask for it, the demonic interference will be expanded. Although it is not demonstrated very noticeably in this dimension, its effects are devastating and quite dangerous. Cultivating in Dafa is such a noble and magnificent thing. We should absolutely not permit filthy and degenerated things to control us.
In the last stage of Fa-rectification, young practitioners should make a concerted effort to be more clear-headed. We should not linger any longer at this level, but instead make steadfast efforts to entirely eliminate the attachments to excitement and physical comfort. Let's cultivate diligently, and concentrate on doing the three things that practitioners are supposed to do well.
(Clearwisdom.net) I'm a practitioner from mainland China and I recently came abroad. I'm 27 years old and obtained the Fa in 1997. But it is shameful that I had not thought of myself as a Falun Dafa practitioner until last year when Teacher gave me a hint. Only then did I start practicing Falun Dafa and realize how much I have missed. I felt so sad. Recently, in another dream, Teacher hinted to me that I must waste no time in saving sentient beings.
In that dream, I stood between the ocean and the land. The sky was clear above the land, but black over the sea. When I looked at the land carefully, I saw buildings, large and small, and one great Buddha on the hilltop, surrounded with bright light of different colors, protecting the land and its people. I called out in my heart: "Teacher!"
Over the sea were big clusters of dark clouds that blocked the sun and created shadows on the sea. Between the sea and the dark clouds, many rotten demons appeared and were moving towards the land. I was shocked. The black clouds must be the old forces. I had a thought: "They are doing their worst on their last try. Although they can do nothing to Dafa disciples, they are trying to destroy the sentient beings."
Then, I had another thought: "I don't want them to destroy the sentient beings." When this thought emerged, I already stood on the land. I saw the demons arresting or possessing people. People started running away. Their purpose was to make people do bad deeds and drag them to hell. I started sending forth righteous thoughts. The demons nearby were eliminated immediately. My righteous thoughts eliminated them one after another. But suddenly three bigger demons charged towards me. I asked Teacher to strengthen me, then I felt power come to me from the back of my head. I focused on my righteous thoughts. At the moment when the demons touched me, the thunder from my palm immediately destroyed them.
Then I saw my past, including all my attachments and how the old forces took advantage of me and isolated me from Dafa. Teacher showed me my past and let me know where I fell short, so I could catch up.
Once I woke up, I stayed in bed and I cried. Because I have not been diligent, I have let the old forces take advantage of me, so I have suffered more tribulations and had a long detour and almost missed the last chance. But Teacher didn't give up on me. I can't imagine how compassionate Teacher is.
I wrote this paper in a hurry to urge all those who, like me, have taken some detour or encountered tribulations to wake up quickly. What are we waiting for? Let's send forth righteous thoughts, clarify the truth, and do well all that we should do. If we don't, how will we face those precious lives who have put all their trust in us to save them, even though they are lost in the maze of today's ordinary world? How can we pursue personal comfort? Our attachment to comfort has cost us many, many opportunities to save sentient beings.

In January 2008, seven more Falun Gong practitioners in China were verified to have died as a result of persecution and torture. In the name of preparing for the Olympics, the Communist regime has intensified the persecution.
On February 27, 2008, the 610 Office in Dehui City, Jilin Province, the police arrested more than ten Falun Gong practitioners and illegally detained them in Dehui City Detention Center.
Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Mei, from Jinzhou City, was arrested on October 4, 2007 for distributing truth-clarification materials and was illegally sentenced to one year of forced labor. She is imprisoned at Masanjia Labor Camp in Shenyang City. The warden has prohibited her family from visiting her because she refuses to renounce Falun Gong.
Source from inside the police revealed that Jilin Province police was given secrete orders to start a new round of persecution of Falun Gong, using the 2008 Olympics as an excuse.
Mr. Zhang Dongxing, a Falun Gong practitioner from Dulangkou Town, Chiping County, Shandong Province, was arrested at his home on December 16, 2007. He is held in the 2nd Forced Labor Camp of Shandong Province.
Mr. Wang was arrested on February 13, 2008 and taken to the Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp where he was detained in Xinsheng (Brainwashing) Ward. After going on a hunger strike and being force-fed, Mr Wang died on February 29, 2008. After a delay, Mr Wang's family was told that he committed suicide by hitting his head against a heater. When the family was allowed to see his body, they saw injuries apart from his head and incompatible with the claimed cause of death. They were denied the right to take home his body or to talk to his guards at the time of his death. The family attempted to file a lawsuit in a local court to investigate the case, but were denied.
Mr Qi Wei was arrested in February 2008 and detained without due process. The police refuse to inform his family of his condition or location.
Since February 27, 2008, Dehui police have arrested more than 30 practitioners and harrassed many others in the area. There is no known local cause and practitioners suspect a pattern of mass arrests preceding the Olympics.
According information from an internal meeting of CCP officials, the police will follow, monitor and arrest Falun Gong practitioners on a larger scale during the period leading up to the Olympic Games.
