1. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Sun Xudong Remains in Custody at Masanjia Forced Labor Camp

On October 27, 2007, Ms. Sun Xudong, a Falun Gong practitioner in Dalian City, was turned in to the police for clarifying the truth and taken into custody by the Haimao Police Station on Shanzhong Street in Dalian City. Ms. Sun was subsequently taken to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp and is serving an 18-month term without the authorities following any legal procedures.

Ms. Sun's mother is in her 80s. Her husband is ill and cannot take care of himself or their teenage child. Her family no longer has any sources of income.

2. [Anshan City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Lu Manku Forced to Leave Town

At around 9:00 a.m. on March 2, 2007, members of the Qianshan District 610 Office, officials of the Tangjiafang Town government, and officers of the Tanggangzi Police Station searched practitioner Mr. Lu Manku's home while he was not at home without a search warrant. They took away all recently published articles by the founder of Falun Gong, tapes of the Falun Gong exercises, a cassette player, and self-adhesive labels. The police claimed they were going to come back to take Mr. Lu into custody when he returned home. Mr. Lu has been forced to leave town and he has no place to stay. His parents, in their 80s, and his child have no one to take care of them.

In late 2007, the officers who staked out Mr. Lu's home mistook one neighbor as Mr. Lu and tripped him, causing him to fall to the ground, in order to capture him. Village officials have set up a reward of 1,000 yuan to anyone who turns in Mr. Lu Manku.

3. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Cai Minzhi Unlawfully Placed on Trial at Tiexi District Court

Ms. Cai Minzhi, and her husband are practitioners in Yuhong District, Shenyang City. Her husband spoke out on behalf of Falun Gong after July 20, 1999, and was taken to a labor camp. Ms. Cai was forced to leave town to avoid being illegally arrested. In May 2007, officers of the Tiexi District Domestic Security Division and members of the 610 Office took Ms. Cai Minzhi into custody while she was on her way to process the paperwork for her husband's medical insurance. The police suspected that she was delivering Falun Gong truth clarification materials. After being held in custody for nine months by the Tiexi District Domestic Security Division, Ms. Cai Minzhi was recently placed on trial at the Tiexi District Court.

4. [Baishan City, Jilin Province] Ms. Gong Qiumin, Ms. Wu Chuanru, and Ms. Xu Cuihua Sent to Forced Labor Camp

Ms. Gong Qiumin, Ms. Wu Chuanru and Ms. Xu Cuihua, all from Jiangyuan County in Baishan City, were taken to Heizuizi Women's Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City, Jilin Province, two weeks ago. They have been forced to engaged in hard labor every day.

5. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Li Chunying Sentenced to Three Years in Prison

Ms. Li Chunying, who works at the No. 4 Oil Extrication Factory in Honggang District, Daqing City, was sentenced to three years in prison by the Honggang District Court. At the end of December 2007, she was taken to Harbin Women's Prison.

In late December 2007, Mr. Cui Jian, who was unlawfully held in Qingtaizi Prison in Fushun City, and Mr. Dong Weijia, who was held in Yezi Prison in Liaoyang, were transferred to Nanguanling Prison in Dalian City, Liaoning Province.

On July 2, 2007, Mr. Zhang Lijun, 45, was taken into custody while he was distributing truth clarification materials in the Deluyuan Residential Community in Mentougou District, Beijing. His case has been processed by the Mentougou District Court.

9. [Shanghai] Mr. Kai Chaohua in Pudong District Taken into Custody

On the morning of January 16, 2008, 14 members of the 610 Office and officers of the Gaoxing Police Station broke into the home of Mr. Kan Chaohua, a practitioner who works at the Gas Factory in Pudong District, Shanghai. The officers confiscated DVDs, Falun Dafa books, and a computer hard drive. Mr. Kan was taken to the Gaoxing Police Station. In 2003, Mr. Kan was taken into custody by the Pudong District 610 Office.

10. [Tianjin] Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Guo Guangxia Taken into Custody

Ms. Guo Guangxia lives at Shuangkou Village, Beichen District, Tianjin. At 10:00 a.m. on January 15, 2008, four officers from the local police station broke into her home and took her to the police station. Ms. Guo was transferred to the Beichen Police Department at 8:00 p.m. the same evening.

11. [Shandong Province] The Persecution of Mr. Sun and His Wife by Zhaoyuan City 610 Office Agents

Mr. Sun Guo, 45, was sentenced to eight years in prison for clarifying the truth in 2002. He is being held in Jinan Prison. His parents passed away while he was in prison.

Mr. Sun's wife, Ms. Teng Yingfen, 48, had been forced to live away from home for five years. In June 2007, she was taken into custody by the 610 Office. After she was released, she was able to find a job to support herself and her daughter with help from kindhearted people. In January 2008, the 610 Office again took her into custody.

At 9:00 a.m. on January 16, 2008, Ms. Chen Aiye, 32, was at work behind the counter in a store. Seven or eight police officers arrived in two police vehicles at the store. The officers carried Ms. Chen into the police car.

Mr. Wu Jianjun, who works at the No. 641 Factory in Shijiazhuang City, was placed on trial last Wednesday. No sentencing was announced.

17. [Hebei Province] Ms. Li Yueqing Taken into Custody in Chengde City

Ms. Li Yueqing, 25, was taken into custody in Chengde City, Hebei Province, in mid-December 2007. She is being held at the Chengde Detention Center. Ms. Li was contacting attorneys to defend eight of the 17 practitioners, including Ms. Cai Shumei, who were arrested on June 30, 2007, and subsequently received lengthy prison terms.

18. [Qianxi City, Hebei Province] Ms. Chai Junxia Appeals Four-Year Sentence by Qianxi Court

19. [Zhengzhou City, Henan Province] The Recent Situation of Ms. Nie Yulan

Ms. Nie Yulan and Ms. Huang Huili, practitioners in Zhengzhou City, were turned into the authorities at noon on March 27, 2007, while they were clarifying the truth. They have been held at the Zhengzhou No. 2 Detention Center. Ms. Nie has been sentenced to five-and-a-half years in prison. Ms. Huang was sentenced to five years. The two practitioners have appealed their cases. The Zhengzhou Intermediate Court is to reach a decision in late January 2008.

21. [Chongqing City] Mr. Lei Zhengxia Taken into Custody

Mr. Lei Zhengxia is a practitioner in Xinqiao Community, Shaping District, Chongqing City. At about 3 p.m. on January 14, 2008, officers from local State Security Division and police station rushed into his home and apprehended Mr. Lei, who was taking a nap. They also seized four MP3 players and one DVD player. At the police station, he was brutally tortured.

At about 11:00 p.m. on the same day, officers from the Shaping District Police Department rushed to his home again, plotting to seize his wife and 11-year-old daughter. They escaped and fear to return to their home.

22. [Wugang City, Henan Province] Ms. Wang Xiu Taken into Custody Again

On January 2, 2008, Ms. Wang Xiu was tracked and taken into custody for posting truth-clarifying stickers. Her home was also searched and a copy of "Minghui Weekly" and 500 yuan in bills with truth-clarifying characters written on them were seized. She was released the same night.

On the night of January 10, 2008, Xu Qiuping (female), the chief of Political Security Section and chief of the 610 Office, directed some officers to break into Ms. Wang's home and take her into custody. Ms. Wang was taken to the detention center and detained there.

23. [Dazhu County, Sichuan Province] Mr. Rao Dengtao Taken into Custody

At about 1:00 p.m. on December 28, 2007, Mr. Rao Dengtao was reported to the police by the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) secretary in the Dazhu County Hospital for clarifying the truth about Dafa in the hospital. He was taken to the Dazhu County Detention Center and detained.

24. [Changsha City, Hunan Province] Ms. Liu Huichun Taken to the Baimalong Forced Labor Camp in Zhuzhou City

25. [Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang] Mr. Zhan Xingchao Taken to the Railway Detention Center

Mr. Zhan Xingchao works in the Mudanjiang City Railway Section. On about January 11, 2008, he was "illegally detained" by his boss and other staff members of the Security Division in his workplace for refusing to deliver Jiang Zemin's books. A day later, he was taken to the Railway Detention Center and held for one month.

26. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhang Yan, Ms. Zhang Jin, And Guo Lixia Have Been Subjected to Persecution for One Month

On the afternoon of December 10, 2007, Ms. Zhang Yan, Ms. Zhang Jin, and Ms. Guo Lixia were taken into custody for distributing truth-clarifying materials by the officers of the Dali Road Police Station in Tangshan City. Afterwards they were taken to the No. 1 Detention Center and have been subjected to persecution for one month.

27. [Shanghai] The Persecution of Ms. Zhang Ning

Ms. Zhang Ning is a 35-year-old practitioner. On the morning of May 9, 2006, officers of the Yangjing Police Station in Pudong New District incited a gang of vagrants, among them Tang Wenfu (male), to conduct a body search of Ms. Zhang and "illegally arrest" her.

On June 7, 2006, officer Chen Guorong and Wang Wei broke into Ms. Zhang's home and took her and her mother Ms. Yao Ning, fellow practitioner

Mr. Xie Sinan, and Ms. Yang Shuying into custody and detained them for 15 days.

On October 29, 2007, when Ms. Zhang was at work, she was taken into custody by the officers of the State Security Division of Minhang District Police Department. Afterwards, she was sentenced to forced labor for one year and three months. At present, she is in the Minhang District Detention Center. Her 70-year-old father came down with an illness and has nobody to take care of him.

28. [Hebei Province] Authorities from Hebei No. 1 Prison Refuse to Let Mr. Zhang Yanqing's Wife Visit Him

For over six months, the authorities from Hebei No. 1 Prison, which is located in Baoding City, have not allowed Mr. Zhang Yanqing's wife to visit him.

In May 2007, Mr. Zhang was transferred to the No. 4 Ward, which is a harsher section, for practicing the exercises and teaching others the exercises. To gain the right to study the Fa and practice the Falun Gong exercises, Mr. Zhang has held a hunger strike for more than 10 days. His wife is extremely worried about him, but the head of the No. 4 Ward has used every possible excuse to keep her from seeing her husband.

29. [Tianjin City] Mr. Zhang Xuechun Taken into Custody

Mr. Zhang Xuechun is a practitioner in Wangjiawa Village, Cuihuangkou Town. At about 8:00 a.m. on January 15, 2008, when he was posting truth-clarifying posters on the Yangcui Road, he was taken into custody by officers of Houxiang Police Station and taken to the police station. After 9:00 a.m., officer Wang Xinliang (male) of the Houxiang Police Station searched Mr. Zhang's home.

30. [Pingdu City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Zhongfang, Wang Meixiang, and Mr. Qi Tongshan Taken into Custody

On January 10, 2008, officer Liu Jie (male) of the State Security Division, together with officers from the Yunshan Town Police Station, rushed into Ms. Wang Zhongfang's home in Diaoyutai Village, Yunshan Town, and took her, Wang Meixiang, and Mr. Qi Tongshan into custody. They also searched Mr. Wang' s home and seized a satellite dish, a motorcycle, a TV, and some Dafa books.

At about 5:00 p.m. the same day, six or seven officers of the State Security Division and the Zhugou Town Police Station searched Mr. Qi Tongshan's home in Shantou Village, Zhugou Town. They seized a TV, Dafa books, a printer and some satellite TV equipment, the value of the confiscated items amounted to 7,000 yuan.

At about 9:00 p.m. the same day, the gang of officers rushed to Ms. Wang Meixiang's home in Dongliuquan Village, Yunshan Town, and seized Dafa books, posters, banners, truth-clarifying material, a TV, a computer, a VCD player, a satellite dish, and 5,000 yuan cash. They also took Ms. Wang's husband into custody and would not release him until 1:00 a.m. the next day.

31. [Anda City, Heilongjiang Province] Officers Extorted Money from Mr. Guo Chen's Family

On January 13, 2008, Liu Yingshan (male), the chief of the Political Security Section of Anda City Police Department, and other officers rushed into Mr. Guo Chen' s home and took him into custody. They also searched his home without a warrant. The next day, Liu Yingshan extorted 2,000 yuan from Mr. Liu's wife, and told her that Mr. Liu would be released within the next 10 days.

32. [Linqu County, Shandong Province] Mr. Yin Hua Sentenced to Forced Labor Camp

On December 20, 2007, Mr. Yin Hua from Linqu County was taken into custody and detained in the No. 2 Detention Center in Linqu County. After 25 days, he was sentenced to the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp in Zibo City for one and a half years on January 15, 2008.

33. [Shenzhou City, Hebei Province] Many Practitioners Taken into Custody

On the morning of January 3, 2008, while some practitioners were in the Leisure Square in Shenzhou City, several police cars suddenly drove by. More than ten officers jumped out and forcibly took the practitioners away, and impounded their bicycles. The practitioners were held in the detention center. Those whose names are known include:

34. [Shantou City, Guangdong Province] The Persecution of Ms. Luo Lijun, Mr. Zheng Minghui, Ms. Peng Peishan, and Ms. Wu Huizhen

On November 25, 2007, Ms. Luo Lijun, a practitioner in Shantou City, was taken into custody by officers from her grocery store, and her home was searched. The next day, Mr. Zheng Minghui, Ms. Peng Peishan, and Ms. Wu Huizhen were also taken into custody and their homes were searched. They are currently being held in the Shantou Detention Center. Moreover, it was learned that Ms. Luo Lijun was approved to be arrested on December 15, 2007.

Ms. He Jing, a practitioner from Maoming City, has been detained in the No. 2 Detention Center. She is holding a hunger strike to protest the persecution. Her parents and sister are hospitalized without anyone to take care of them. Her husband plans to divorce her.

36. [Jiangxi Province] Ms. Tian Haiying Transferred to Ruichang City Detention Center

Ms. Tian Haiying has been transferred to Ruichang City Detention Center and detained there. Mr. Huang Jinrong and Ms. Zhou Meili have been taken to the Jiujiang City Detention Center by the Jiujiang City 610 Office and detained there.

37. [Beijing] Mr. Xiao Xuemin and Ms. Liu Quanying Sentenced to Prison for Two and a Half Years

Mr. Xiao Xuemin, a practitioner from Beijing, was taken into custody by officers of the Haidian District Police Department in September 2007. He was sentenced to prison for two and a half years.

Ms. Liu Quanying, a practitioner from Haidian District, was sentenced to prison for two and a half years. She held hunger strike to protest the persecution, and is hospitalized.

38. [Guizhou Province] The Persecution of Practitioners by Kaiyang County 610 Office

During the vacation period around October 1, 2007, the authorities of the Kaiyang County 610 Office incited the CCP's secretaries in villages to call local practitioners' homes and prohibit them from going out to distribute truth-clarifying materials. In the middle of the night, police cars stopped outside the practitioners' homes and ran their sirens. In the meantime, all government employees and enterprises of towns and villages, and all village CCP secretaries were not allowed to take vacation. Instead, they were assigned to watch the electricity poles around the clock in case Falun Gong practitioners attempted to tap into the regular TV programming. Dreading the loss of their jobs, some employees dared not leave, and just went to buy instant noodles during their shifts.
