(Clearwisdom.net) In July 2008, officers from the 610 Office of Zengcheng City (a suburb of Guangzhou City), Guangdong Province and the Xiaolou Town Police Station arrested Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Tan Jianju and took her to the "law education school" in the Chatou Area, Baiyun District for brainwashing. Ms. Tan Jianju is still mentally disoriented after recently leaving the brainwashing center. The local police still threaten to revoke her permanent residency registration.
Ms. Tan Jianju was born in Hubei Province. Her registered address is in Xiaolou Town, Zengcheng City. She worked as a hair stylist at a beauty parlor in Shenzhen City. Her family has encountered incomparable difficulties after being persecuted for many years. She has had no money to pay for the burial of her husband's ashes, and her young child has no caretaker.
Ms. Tan obtained the Fa in 1998 and through the practice she became healthy both physically and mentally. After July 20, 1999, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) created widespread rumors and slandered Falun Gong. In March 2000, Ms. Tan went to tell of her experience to the Beijing government, to clarify the truth about Falun Gong. She took the train alone from her hometown in Hubei Province. However, she was detained by the local police and held in a basement at the Guangdong Province liason office in Beijing. After a few days, police from the 610 Office of Zengcheng City and the Xiaolou Police Station took her back, and detained her in the Zengcheng City Drug Abuse Center for 15 days.
Not long after her release, Ms. Tan practiced the exercises publicly, and was sentenced to forced labor camp for two years. She experienced inhumane persecution at the notorious Sanshui Women's Labor Camp in Guangdong Province. She was released after about one year, and was assigned by the local 610 Office to work at a barber shop in Xiaolou Town.
During the Chinese New Year in 2002, Ms. Tan planned to go home for the holiday, but was arrested by the Zengcheng 610 Office and the local police station, even though she had not broken any laws. She was taken to the Zengcheng City Drug Abuse Center and detained for three months without any legal procedures. During that time, she suffered torture and brainwashing.
Afterwards, Ms. Tan married Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liu Guohua from Lianzhou City (suburb of Qingyuan City), Guangdong Province. Shortly after their marriage, Mr. Liu was arrested and sentenced to two years in a labor camp. Ms. Tan was pregnant at the time, and was forced to return to her parents' home in Hubei Province alone.
Mr. Liu developed serious uremia after being persecuted in the labor camp. His entire body was swollen when he returned home. Their financial situation was difficult and he was very ill. Yet, the local 610 Office still went to his home to harass him frequently. This caused his illness to worsen and Mr. Liu Guohua died at age 30.
Ms. Tan Jianju had much difficulty raising her baby son alone. However, the CCP continued to harass and threaten her. In mid 2007, the CCP arranged for her to work at a local senior home so that she could be kept under watch and brainwashed more easily. Her salary was paid through a designated person assigned by the 610 Office. Ms. Tan agreed to this arrangement in order to survive. At the senior home, Ms. Tan took great care of the elderly and was much appreciated. However, the Xiaolou Police Station continued to order officers and others to harass Ms. Tan and her son.
Ms. Tan was forced to write a resignation letter in July 2008. Officers from the 610 Office of Zengcheng and the Xiaolou Police Station arrested Ms. Tan Jianju and took her to the "Law Education School" in Chatou, the Baiyun District for brainwashing.
At the brainwashing center, officers Li Zhiqiang, Yang Yongcheng and others threatened Ms. Tan and forced her to say that her husband's death was the result of practicing Falun Gong and failing to seek medical treatment. They forced her to say that Falun Gong caused her husband's death in front of a video camera three times, hoping to shift all responsibility onto Falun Gong. In reality, Mr. Liu Guohua's death was due to the fact that he could not afford medical treatment after the persecution had caused his illness as well as his financial difficulties. However, due to the serious illness, he still entered the hospital and eventually died in the hospital.
Ms. Tan Jianju's life was very difficult because of her husband's death and the persecution. She has been forced to leave home to avoid further persecution and the continuous harassment from the 610 Office.
