(Clearwisdom.net) I am a farmer living in Cang County, Hebei Province. I quit school after the second grade. In 1997, I learned how to practice Falun Gong from a friend. After studying the principles of Falun Gong, I knew how to become a good person. Both of my daughters also became less selfish. They started to follow the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" and gradually began to practice Falun Gong. After that, my sister found that Falun Gong was so wonderful, from getting along with me. She started to practice Falun Gong, quit smoking and gambling, and felt energetic every day. She always said, "Falun Gong changed us."
After that, I heard that many practitioners were arrested. So, on July 20, 1999, we went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. The police detained us for four to five hours. We did not cooperate with their violent interrogation. Since they could not obtain any information from us, they released us. As soon as we arrived home, county government officials detained us and forced us to attend a "learning class." They did not allow us to go home, or walk freely. We were monitored even when we used the washroom. At night, many male and female practitioners slept in a big room, and the lights of the room were not allowed to be shut off. During the day, we were forced to watch TV programs, newspapers, and magazines which defamed Falun Gong. As soon as we looked at them, we understood that they were all lies and propaganda. We were detained and tortured for more than ten days.
In order to call for righteous people to stop the persecution, in October 2000, we overcame many difficulties and went to Tiananmen Square in Beijing to clarify the truth about Falun Gong. We were arrested on the morning of the 26th. Officials from the Political and Legal Committee of Cang County, Cang County Police Station, and the county government took me to their hotel, blamed me for creating troubles for them, and demanded to know the whereabouts of other practitioners. About six or seven people took turns beating me with a hard baton. Then they clapped my face for more than ten minutes. They were out of breath and shouted to me, "Just wait and see how we will deal with you when you return."
After we came back, the local government officials immediately imprisoned me at a detention center for more than two months. My second daughter was released after more than a month of detention and was forced to pay more than 2000 yuan. My first daughter was on hunger strike for more than one week and was released. After that, I was transferred to a labor camp.
Kaiping Forced Labor Camp was a chaotic place. There was no personal freedom at all. We had to report even when we used the restroom. Beatings were possible every day. The guards strived to obtain bounties from the CCP or to be promoted, by forcibly brainwashing Falun Gong practitioners, and defaming and attacking Falun Gong. In order to achieve their goals, they used all kinds of torture methods. To request basic human rights and to stop the brainwashing, Falun Gong practitioners started hunger strikes together. The guards then force-fed Falun Gong practitioners and kicked and beat them with electric batons or fists. One time, the guards arranged a TV program and ordered us to watch it. After learning that it was a program defaming Falun Gong, we stood up to clarify the truth. They beat us and some of us were wounded.
My first daughter thought that everything was over for her after returning home. However, the people who arrested us did not give up. After my daughter stayed at home for one month, they broke into my home and arrested my daughter again without any reason or legal procedure. All the people in my village were very angry with them and said that they kidnapped my daughter. This time, my sister also was arrested and sent to Kaiping Forced Labor Camp in Tangshan City. However, she was rejected by the camp and sent back home. My daughter was sentenced to two years in the camp. Because of her attachments, she said something against Falun Gong under the pressure of a long jail term and severe persecution. After returning home, she felt very guilty about it. We will definitely double our efforts to make amends, recover the losses to Falun Gong, and become qualified Falun Gong practitioners.
