(Clearwisdom.net) On the evening of July 20, 2004, to mark the fifth anniversary of the start of the persecution against Falun Gong, practitioners from Edmonton, Canada held a rally from 7:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on the lawn of the practice site at the University of Alberta. The rally condemned Jiang's group's persecution of Falun Gong and commemorated the practitioners who have died as a result of the persecution in China. Practitioners also displayed a series of Dafa truth clarification display boards on the lawn along the roadside, and unfolded large banners reading, "Falun Dafa is Good" and "Bring Jiang to Justice."
The event began with all the practitioners practicing the exercises together, and later around 9:00 p.m. everyone lit a candle and arranged them in a long row along the roadside. The candlelight symbolized the commemoration for fellow practitioners who have given their lives for persisting in their belief and who upheld the truth, and also symbolized the light of the Fa that forever guides us in the darkness. The candlelight also symbolized the peaceful journey of Fa-rectification over the past five years -- a journey that may seem simple on the surface, but that is incomparably resplendent. Some people passing by stopped and watched, and practitioners had a conversation with them, telling them about the truth of Falun Gong.
The entire activity concluded shortly after 10:00 p.m. after practitioners sent forth righteous thoughts.
