Facts of the Persecution

Dafa practitioner Ms. Zhong Fangqiong from Chengdu City, Sichuan Province first encountered Falun Dafa in March of 1999. After two months of practice, all of her previous illnesses disappeared. Zhong Fangqiong firmly persisted in Dafa practice even after July 1999, when perpetrators from the Wannianchang Police Station in Chengdu City ransacked her home. They abducted and detained her 14 times.

Because Ms. Zhong Fangqiong wrote an article to expose a slanderous television report made about her, she was sentenced to one year of forced labor, and her sentence was later extended by three months. In order to escape, Zhong Fangqiong jumped from the fourth floor of a building in the labor camp. She fractured her pelvis and right leg, injured her left foot and sustained paralysis to the lower half of her body. The horrific persecution has reduced her to just skin and bones. Her weight dropped from 110 jin [approximately 121 lbs.] to 60 jin [approximately 66 lbs.].

In September 2002, Dafa practitioner Liu Weishan, an employee of the Hanjiang Machinery Factory in Xiangfan City, was unlawfully sent to the No. 1 Detention Center in Xiangfan City for telling people the facts about Dafa. Ms. Liu Weishan refused to cooperate with the evildoers and held a 40-day hunger strike. The perpetrators secretly sentenced her to four years in prison and sent her to Wuhan City's Female Prison. Due to the savage tortures they subjected her to, Ms. Liu Weishan had a nervous breakdown. Right now she is emaciated and in critical condition. The guards shaved her head bald to humiliate her, and every few days they dragged her to a clinic for injections. They also tied her to a metal railing for a long period of time. Her life is at risk.

Dafa practitioner Ms. Shui Li, a police superintendent from Nanjing City, was abducted and sent to a brainwashing class. Authorities ransacked her home many times. Her phone was tapped; she was followed wherever she went, and perpetrators from the street committee and the local police precinct often went to her home to harass her. They also ordered her neighbors to monitor her. Her elder son was detained for 15 days and his home was ransacked. Her younger son was detained for 48 hours. Her husband's hair turned white from worry and anguish. A group of police officers, led by head officer Xiao from the Nanjing City Police Department, ransacked her home and persecuted her family.

Zhang Xiansheng, a Dafa practitioner from Fushun City, gives a first-person account of her persecution experiences, as follows: I was arrested on February 13, 2002 [Chinese Lunar Calendar] when distributing flyers and was sent to Kuandian County's Detention Center, where I was held for 34 days. Later I was sentenced to three years of forced labor and sent to the Dandong City Forced Labor Camp, where I was compelled to do hard labor every day. Sometimes I worked until midnight. The guards there often slapped my face and shocked me with electric batons., I escaped from the labor camp on August 28, 2003 but could not return home.

My name is Yang Yuchen and I am a 52-year-old female Dafa practitioner from Fushun City. I was abducted three times and sent to a detention center; another three times I was sent to the Fushun City Labor Camp. I was twice sentenced to forced labor. I was held at the Masanjia Labor Camp in Shenyang City for one year, followed by two years of detention at the Fushun City Labor Camp. At Masanjia Labor Camp I had to get up before dawn to work every day, which didn't end until 9:00 p.m. We were often given extra work and stringent deadlines. The guards never stopped using corporal punishments on me. They also forced me to stand and squat for long periods of time. I was tortured in other ways at the Fushun City Labor Camp, leaving me with scars to this day.
